Hawkkit quickly padded after them, observing their surrounds. He too scented the bird, but he also scented something else. He slipped off to the side, and upon managing to find a tree with low branches, he clawed his way up. Standing on the lowest branch, he wobbled, before regaining his balance. He had two options, go after the squirrel that sat in a tree nearby, or, go after a bird.

Deciding to go after a bird, Hawkkit crept along the branch he was on, climbing onto a higher one. It wasn't long until he spotted a bird, perched on the end of the branch he stood on. Very slowly and quietly, the intelligent kit crawled along the branch, until he was just close enough. The tabby jumped, landing on the bird with an umph, and just managing to catch in in his jaws. Hawkkit's claws left deep marks in the wood, deep for a kitten to leave anyway. He had been holding on as tight as possible, worried that he might fall off.
