She had learned to read back when she lived with some of her knowledgable siblings, and even understood a bit of languages aside from the English that seemed most common. Currently, she was sitting slightly hunched over a title that had been called "Twilight". It seemed a bit odd, but she'd been entranced by the thought of so-called vampires and romance, however clichéd said topics seemed to be in the book. Jade gaze flickering briefly upward, she readjusted, now laying in a more comfortable position and reading the book. She didn't notice the sun setting outside, nor the way a white light, seemingly cast by herself, was the only illumination. The tabby was so deeply engulfed in the book that not even a tornado could rip her attention from it, but, perhaps another living being could. (( ayy sorry i'm mobile )) [/fancypost] |

Ah, there was no excuse for good ol' prey hunting, huh? Sure, maybe her time could be better spent devouring more books entirely, but hey, hunger is as hunger does. Or something like that. Either way, Kanaya had trotted, almost lopsidedly, back to the castle with four mice dangling from her jaws. She couldn't speak through the tails, but the extra food would be worth it later. She set them down alongside a few other pieces of fresh-kill as she entered, quite literally glowing out of pride.
(( museless, sorry !! ))

Eight. The number was practically painful to think of, after the way Vriska and Kanaya's friendship had ended. But, hey, if StarClan had said this was the number that she'd find her so-called "soulmate" with, maybe it would become a number of fortune to her. Either way, Kanaya had entered the ballroom near the end of the day, frowning as she glanced around. There were nine tables, set up as though in a line, each labeled with their corresponding number, if that wild dream had been accurate. So she began hurriedly pacing through the room, quickly checking each table to see if it had the number eight. Finally, the chocolate tabby approached a table near the end of the "line", her only reaction to seeing the number was, indeed, eight being sharp intake of breath. The chocolate tabby took a seat on the opposite side of the table, greeting Odessa with a flick of her ear and an uncertain smile. "Hello," she mewed, sparing a brief moment to look the cat up and down.

"I'll play," Kanaya mewed, approaching the group with a friendly smile upon her maw. She was here in a lazy track post, but she took a seat alongside Cytus and Magiccub, wondering briefly when they would begin.

!! yeah sure
would you mind making it though? -

"Hmm?" Kanaya snapped out of her former focus, glancing around and getting hurriedly to her paws. She turned on her heel, eyes adjusting to the dim light she provided to make out the figure standing there. "Oh, hello," she greeted, glancing hesitantly back towards the book and wondering if she should just leave it open for right now. "I do hope I'm not disturbing you or anything," she began, taking a few steps forward only to see the other feline better. "If so, I'd be happy to return to my room and continue reading." The tabby smiled merrily, turning around quickly to slide a leaf into the page she was currently and close the book. Kanaya then realized she hadn't a clue as to what time of day it actually was, considering she'd headed to the library just after finishing a short hunting expedition, and she quickly looked out one of the windows along one wall, somewhat shocked to see night had fallen.

Glowing a faint white as usual, Kanaya padded outside, gazing upward at the cloudy sky with a book hanging from her jaws. She held it gently, as not to leave indents, and began to trot around the perimeter, looking to seea nice place to sit down and read through the afternoon, even if it meant she would have to take care of even more of her warrior duties later. Suddenly she halted, seeing the serval called Iowa a few paces ahead. "Herroh," she greeted, flicking an ear and tilting her head, though her words were heavily muffled by the black and red book she held. Looking down as though she'd forgotten, she gently set down the book, and sat down. "Heh, sorry. Hello," the tabby mewed properly, briefly licking a paw and drawing it over her head. "How are you doing?" Kanaya smiled, shifting slightly and twitching her tail tip. "I do hope I'm not disturbing you or anything."

Now, just to make things a tad easier, Kanaya, too, had been hunting. She'd been doing quite a bit of that recently, as well as solo training, to make up for the hours she lost reading. Already, she'd caught a vole, burying near the shoreline and promising to return soon to pick it up. She had been tracking a somewhat stale scent when she practically stumbled into the clearing, causing a small racket and a few leaves and sticks to stick to her chocolate pelt. Scoffing, she tugged away a leaf, sitting up straight but not yet noticing the stone figure before her. She gave her chest fur an embarrassed lick, glad no one was present to witness the tumble, and then looked up, eyes wide with sudden shock and a certain fear at the statue. She could feel her pelt beginning to bristle, but nonetheless the tabby stepped forward, staring up at the statue as a soft rain began to fall, slicking her fur down. Kanaya got to her paws, ready to trot away, maybe head back to the castle and tell someone about this, but then another scent wafted through the clearing. Raising a nonexistent eybrow, she paced around the statue, seeing what looked like a jaguar gazing at the stone figure. She took a few steps forward and spared a glance upward to the statue's face - or lack thereof. "Quite remarkable, isn't it?" she mewed, looking the bigger feline up and down. She'd seen him around, hadn't she? Oh, yes, he was called Prism, right? They'd never really exclusively spoken, though they might've exchanged a few brief words in the past.

Kanaya leaned back, regaining some of her poise and tucking her tail neatly between her forepaws. "I'm doing quite well, thank you for asking." She then let out a quick chuckle, wondering if it was obvious that she was burning beneath her pelt. "Although I must admit, this is a rather odd encounter, is it not?" Whiskers twitching, an expression similar to shock flickered across her features. "I do apologize. How are you doing, miss...?" The tabby supposed it was two questions in one. Despite briefly encountering Odessa on the off occasion, they'd never actually spoken, at least not in her memory. Kanaya glanced quickly around at the other tables, wondering if anyone else's situation looked as awkward. Of course, while most most people seemed to already be there, a few were sitting alone, quite likely waiting for their own "soulmate" to show up.

Kanaya opened her mouth, then perked her ears, looking quite confused. She glanced down at her paws, seeing that there was, indeed, a faint white glow radiating from her. Swallowing a bout of uncertainty, she gave a somewhat nervous smile. "That doesn't usually happen," she joked awkwardly after a moment, wondering how on Prospit she came to be glowing. "So, uh, what exactly are you looking for? Unless you've found your book already, that is," she asked after a quick pause, attempting a smile. StarClan, she probably knew this place way better than Kanaya did, which made her question practically useless.

Kanaya was hunting, letting her eyes and brain take a break from all the reading, however interesting and entrancing it seemed. She had decided to go to the river, as her older sister had taught her how to fish and she thought it would be nice to have a fish or two for HawkClan. Creeping along the banks, she began to pick up the faint smell of something... out of the ordinary. Crumpling out her nose, she stood to her full length, opening her mouth and breathing in the scent for a moment. She shrugged it off, figuring it was an older and staler scent, and hurried to the edge of the river. She crouched amongst the reeds, careful as to not let her shadow fall over the water. Frowning hard in concentration, she watched a fish begin to swim past, and rapidly shot out a paw, hooking the fish from the river in a swift movement. The tabby stared at it uncertainly for a moment, then quickly delivered the killing bite, setting the fish down before her.
(( ah i hope this is okay !! and yeah, it's absolutely fine with me uvu ))

Oh. Yeah. Toshiro. That was one of the first times they'd encountered one another, right? It had been horrifying, and boy, was she glad that he'd been saved. Or seemed to bd. "That's me," she nodded in confirmation as she spoke, taking an uncertain step nearer the statue and running a gentle paw over it's base. "Well..." she began in response, examining the statue as a whole. "See here? This part was intricately carved when it was first made, but now it's been worn down." She tapped a claw against the bottom of the cloak, where someone had taken care to show the wrinkles in the fabric. It was smoth now, practically molded into one, but small cracks of a sort indicated it's former detail. "Just from that, it must've been hear at least - what - around eighty years?" It was a rough estimate, possibly even too low, but recallig what Aradia had told her, it seemed about right. "But the face seems to prove it's been here even longer, which makes sense, taking into account that the folds would've been sheltered by parts further up." She took a hesitant pause. "By the detail in the cloak alone, the face must've had a lot, but now it's been worn completely smooth. So it must've been here a lot longer than that." Truth be told, she couldn't be sure. Even with the knowledge Aradia had shared, the BlizzardClanner would still be better. "In the end, I don't have a clue, but it must've been here a very long time," Kanaya shrugged, taking a seat and continuing to stare up at the statue.

Kanaya padded curiously into the library, tilting her head as she observed the materials laid out. What kind of a game was Prism planning on playing? "What are the rules?" she asked, sitting down and flicking an ear. She pawed lazily at one of the balls, wondering how he'd made them. However, since he may've wanted to keep it a secret or something similar, she decided against him. "And how do you even play?"
(( that sounds really fun to play wow ))

Ah, the wonders of living in a place formerly inhabited by humans who had an excellent taste in clothing, am I right? At least, that's what Kanaya thought when she found it. The room to top all others. A room of nothing but miles of fabric, some shimmering, some dark as night. She began to walk along the rows of fabrics, mouth dropped into a perfect "O" and eyes widened. She settled down at a somewhat large wooden table, gaze examining the almost finished dresses and skirts and capes that lay there. She tugged one aside, a gorgeous pink and white gown that would hang to a human's ankles. Beaming, Kanaya hurried along the row, gently taking down some bright red fabric that was soft to the paw's touch. She then rushed back to the table, careful to drape the fabric over her back so it wouldn't brush the ground. She set it down atop the table, then dragged a large wooden box near, prying it open with unsheathed claws. She carefully withdrew a thin metallic needle from the box, crude but able to fit her needs. She also pulled a wooden spool, equipped with black thread, from the box, which thinking about it now, didn't seem as old as the dusty fabric that occupied the rest of the room. The tabby carefully and slowly took up the end of the thread, and, as her sister had showed her, looped it through the needle. She tugged at the thread, making it longer, and then took up the red fabric. Kanaya stood up, clenching the fabric in her teeth, and, somehow, managed to see how the end of the cloth would fit around her waist. She made a tiny nick with her claw, marking where she'd need to start sewing it. She then tugged the red cloth away, folded it down, and began to "sew" along the top to combine it. She took the needle between her jaws, and pushed it gently through the fabric, catching the thin metal instrument with her paws on the other side, and temporarily flipping it over to repeat the process. It was long work, tedious with her time-consuming method, but effective. She made several readjustments, such as ripping off some from the bottom and sewing it up, but when she was done, Kanaya Maryam exited the room with a flowing red skirt that fell to her hindpaws and still allowed all the necessary movement. It was beautiful, if she did say so herself.
