Normally, he would wait until darkness fell to torment the Southern apprentice, but he felt a moment of weakness and took over, replaying the horrific scenes of what he had forced the apprentice to do in Cowboypaw's mind. The screaming and the blood, but most of all the sick satisfaction Jack felt when the screaming stopped. He gently put Cowboypaw to sleep then and there in the middle of camp, messing with the apprentice's mind relentlessly.
Cowboypaw's eyes shot open as he lay gasping in camp, trying to recollect his thoughts. This was new - Jack seemed to be gaining power over him, bit by bit. Sometimes at night he couldn't tell who was in control, he found himself agreeing with Jack more and more. Ravenpaw didn't deserve me, no body does. Of course I am better than everyone. Murdering worthless beings is really a service, when you think about it...
He had to shake himself out of thoughts like these every time, reminding himself of his past and who he really was.

Oh, they could row for hours. Reyna watched as he deflected it with his hand, and staggered on his broom. He was able to hold on however and the Quaffle was back in play. Ethan took the ball, flying towards the goalposts and aiming a pass to Luke. The two Chasers seemed to be in sync as they moved down the pitch, until Luke took the shot, hopefully on target.

To be honest, Reyna wasn't. Now that the game had finished, she realized that most of the saves Octavian could have made he didn't, and made a mental note to press him for information later. She shook hands with all of the players and the referee, graciously accepting defeat. She didn't pause or act differently when she got to Annabeth, not wanting everyone else to know there was something there before they had even decided what it was.
They went back to the changing rooms and she saw the Captain, Luke, talking lowly to Octavian. The younger blonde seemed pretty scared, as if something was going to be discovered. He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly and uttered some words, growing red in the face. Luke sighed angrily and turned around to the team.
"You all played very well, but we have potential to be better. The reason we allowed so many goals in -" he said, cutting off to glare at Octavian. "Was that Octavian here put his relationship above the team. His Ravenclaw girlfriend was apparently more important than his own house. They are our biggest competitors this year, so new rule: I don't want any of you getting romantically involved with a Ravenclaw until after the final, especially if they are on the team. It's only a month, so just keep it in your pants. Got it? Dismissed." Luke finished.
As Reyna went into the girls' changing room with Thalia and Clarisse, her heart sank in her chest as she realized what this meant. She would have to keep Annabeth a secret, and not just because of the whole gay thing. It would be risking her place on the team to continue, but she wasn't sure if she would be able to say no.
Soon enough the black-haired girl was in her uniform, lying about forgetting something in the changing rooms as the rest of her team left. She waited outside and peeked around into the other team room to see if Annabeth had left yet.

The words he muttered before he even had time to second guess them. He knew how Ravenpaw worked - she would hold it all in and put on a strong front. He knew she wasn't fine, he was part of the reason she wasn't fine.
It did hurt that she stepped back, but he didn't blame her. He would be angry at himself too, but would have at least heard it from his side. His life wasn't that fun either. Sure, he joked and flirted during the day, but when it came down to it he was alone. No family, and barely any friends. No one to confide in.
And as soon as darkness fell and it showed how alone Cowboy was, Jack stirred in his mind and made him relive the horrific crimes he was forced to commit. He would sometimes take complete control, other times barely enough so that the tom didn't know who was in charge anymore. And it wasn't the memories that were the worst. It was the sick feeling of satisfaction that Jack felt when he was torturing and killing the she-cats.
And as Jack whispered in his ear that they were a team and that Cowboypaw was better than everyone else and killing useless beings was really a service, when you think about it...Cowboypaw found himself agreeing more and more. And that is what terrified him.
