[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; width: 225px; margin-top: -20px;][justify][color=black][font=arial]For the first time, Monarchkit had woken up early.
Perhaps too early, though. The sky was still dark, and the sun hadn't come up yet. But instead of just assuming it was nighttime, the serval kitten decided to look outside. Coincidentally, that's when the sun chose to rise. As orange and golden rays lot up one end of the sky, she sat, gaze affixed, fascinated.
Monarch had never seen a sunrise before.

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; width: 225px; margin-top: -20px;][justify][color=black][font=arial]"Yup, scarves!" Monarch replied to Kissingpaw, before running over to the crate and peering at the jumble of different colors. She slotted an orange one that she liked, because it matched her fur (sort-of). But after a thought, chose a white one instead. White for the snow that would be gone when summer came, and white to match her ears.

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; width: 225px; margin-top: -20px;][justify][color=black][font=arial]Secrets. And kits. It was pity that by the time they came, Monarchkit would have become Monarchpaw, and she would be tied up with whatever apprentices did and so have less time to meet new kits. The serval femme would try though...
    "Do you know how many?"

"There..." Monarchkit nodded vaguely in the direction of some bushes, then scrutinized the words again. But staring wasn't going to help her understand any faster, was it? And though she didn't want to admit ineptitude and ask, Monarch was reaching that point of curiosity. Reaching, but not quite...
"Look!" The serval kitten exclaimed, showing the book to her father, in hopes that he would understand what the markings meant and explain. It wasn't actually a question, so...

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; width: 225px; margin-top: -20px;][justify][color=black][font=arial]"Fine..." Monarchkit agreed, with a hint of impatience. Yes, she was slightly out of breath from the run as well, but was she going to let Pockykit see that? Nooo.
Instead, the serval kitten paced around the other kit in a circle, to pass time. It was, on a smaller scale, what she had seen Pockykit do when he was bored: run in circles.
    "Done yet?"

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; width: 225px; margin-top: -20px;][justify][color=black][font=arial]As the sky brightened, and the orange faded away to blue, Monarchkit got up and shook her fur out. She really should wake up early more, and so see the sunrise. It was a pity that the sight only could last for a couple of minutes, at most. As well, it was unfortunate that the sky had to be blue. Orange was a much nicer color!

Turning around, the serval kitten suddenly spotted Repeatingkit, sitting in the corner, and half wondered how long he had been there. And how long she had sat, staring into the sunrise, unknowing of the blind kit's presence. How rude she would seem!
So to make it up, if he was indeed offended, Monarch padded over to Repeat with a greeting and an introduction. "Hi, I'm Monarchkit! You?"

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; width: 225px; margin-top: -20px;][justify][color=black][font=arial]"The humans made it, so surely they must be able to read it?" Monarchkit asked, slightly confused. Then she extended one cautious paw and pawed at the white-block-thing-with-drawings again, as if to make sure that it was actually real, and snot some magical human thing.
It was, and to her surprise, one sheet of the white block lifted up and flipped over, revealing more drawings. It seemed that they were rather like leaves, or flower petals. The pages were thin, and the book had many layers of them.

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; width: 225px; margin-top: -20px;][justify][color=black][font=arial]It was awhile since Monarchkit had actually had a real conversation with her siblings. Yes, there were greetings when they met around camp and such, but no real conversations. She just didn't really... Send much time with family much, Lemniscatecross either.

And the serval femme thought that it was time she should.
    "Witchpaw, Regulkit?"

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; width: 225px; margin-top: -20px;][justify][color=black][font=arial]"Ooh! Another one!" Abandoning her book temporarily to inspect Connor's, the serval kitten found, to her delight, actual pictures. There was a bird and... Though humans might be strange, at least they were good artists.

Hearing Lost's question, she replied distractedly, "I think so... Nothing happened when I poked it." And then Monarch went back to appreciating artwork.

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; width: 225px; margin-top: -20px;][justify][color=black][font=arial]"So you both heard of how Lemniscatecross... He killed his son Phantomstallion?" The thought had been bugging Monarch, she couldn't understand why he had done it, or why he had even had a son in ThunderClan whom she had never heard of before the incident. Though he was her father, it made her wonder whether or not she even knew anything about him, whether there were more of her siblings out there, that she'd never met. Whether she and Regul and Witchpaw even meant anything to him at all.

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; width: 225px; margin-top: -20px;][justify][color=black][font=arial]"I guess we assemble the snowman then. Monarch then looked over the separate pieces, thinking over what the snowman should look like, all neatly stacked and tall. However, a problem came up in her mind.
"Wait, how are we supposed to stack the snowballs?"

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; width: 225px; margin-top: -20px;][justify][color=black][font=arial]Looking up at Realmwright as well, Monarch asked while pointing at the funny black symbols (words) in her book, "Do you know what these are? What they mean?" They were human-text, but perhaps... There was a chance the tiger might know how to read.

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; width: 225px; margin-top: -20px;][justify][color=black][font=arial]"Um sure..." Monarch replied hesitantly, wondering just how stupid she had looked hanging there from the branch. Enough, presumably, that Oreopaw had offered to help. At that thought, the serval made a mental note not to go trying new things were people might notice. If she was going to be important someday, she was going to need to hide her weaknesses.

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; width: 225px; margin-top: -20px;][justify][color=black][font=arial]"It's a..." What had Connor had called it again? "A book! Do you know what that says?" The serval femme gestured once more towards the black markings, not worried that she might be seen as ignorant this time. After all, if Candyfangs and Connor, and everyone else couldn't read the symbol-drawings, then they were just... Too strange.
