Occasionally, Lovino would humor himself by wondering about where his life would be if this God forsaken apocalypse had continued to be something authors wrote utopian fiction about and what screenwriters used when all else had failed. He had always wanted to be a chef and own his own resteraunt. Or he had mused over going to college again and picking up a major in astrophysics or biomedical engineering. It would be better paying, unless he owned some high class reseraunt in Venice or around Florence or Naples. And it wasn't like he couldn't do it; perhaps he'd get a little stressed at points but he knew he could do it. But he would rather own a resteraunt. Not necessarily something at the café level, but also not somewhere where you have to make reservations three weeks in advance. A family friendly place, where people could go for a humble price and enjoy themselves while eating. It seemed so childishly unrealistic now, as he laid in the back of a car with glass littering the floor and front seats and the impending threat of death looming above him, but it was what he dreamed all his life. Or, until roughly three years ago.
Lovino resisted letting out a bark of bitter laughter. Three years ago his entire life plans were ripped to shreds. He had been merely 23, just barely out of high school and slowly falling into the swing of real life. Of course, there had been the war going on, so it wasn't like he could start up his own resteraunt just like that, but instead he was working in 'Aziende Dioli' underneath the supervision of Niccolò Dioli. He had been working in the kitchens, earning very low wage due to food rations - though, to this day Lovino didn't understand why they had their food rationed. They hadn't been a part of the war in the slightest as far as he knew - but relatively enjoying his job nonetheless. But now all of that was torn out of his grip.
Niccolò was dead; Lovino had found the greying man himself. Most of his co-workers were presumed to be dead. He had no idea what happened to his family or if they were even alive. And here pitiful, little Lovino Vargas was stuck in the back of a random car with a broken and rather bloody windshield and the dented metal doors being the only things that protected him from the great outdoors. He'd like to see Steve Irwin brave this.
Red-brown hair fanned around Lovino's head as he laid on his back in the backseat of the car. His legs were bent so that he could fit on the seat, tucked into himself as far as they could go. He had his eyes shut softly, but he was well aware of the cold air that seeped into the car through the broken windows and doors and the creaking of branches somewhere above his head. A ratty brown scarf pooled around his neck and over his chest. A slightly big, black leather jacket. Tattered navy denim jeans. A pair of worn combat boots he had pulled off of someone's body. Lovino perhaps wasn't the most prepared for this apocalypse but he was trying his best.
Sometimes trying your best could be a factor in deciding whether you lived or died.
A pair of hazel optics flickered open and he slowly looked over to the windshield. The wind whistled sharply around him and the car proved only minimal shelter. Lovino slowly pushed himself into a sitting position, throwing his feet off the seat with a sharp crunching noise as the glass shattered beneath his feet. Lovino twisted and cracked his back, before sliding to the edge of the seat and leaning over to try and peer out of the shattered front window. The rest of the windows were practically useless, to be honest with you, but he supposed that the windshield wasn't much better. At least he could see out of it.
Faint light filtered through the leaves and stronger beams bored down on the Earth where there were no trees obscuring the sky. The wind blew mercilessly, just waiting for you to step into it so it could chill you to the bone with freezing claws of ice. But what was important was that he couldn't see any zombies- human or animal. Lovino leaned forward and wrapped his fingers around the freezing metal handle of the passanger door and practically threw himself forward to push the rusting metal open. There was a sharp scream that came from the metal as it grinded against the side of the car as it flew open and Lovino grimanced, twisting to grab the tattered bag that was on the floor before throwing his leg over the seat and clumsily stepping out of the car.
He stumbled once before settling himself, the temperature difference hitting him like a slap in the face as he slid the backpack onto his back and got to work on fixing his scarf. He tied it around his nose and mouth almost like a bandana, as it was being used to try and block out anything in the air. He still hadn't found usable goggles, which he needed to; the closest to usable he had found thus far was on a rotting corpse. When he had tried to take them off - like he did with his shoes - his fingers had sunk into the person's scalp almost like it was butter. He had given up after being unable to pry the glasses off without having to tear apart that person's head, and he had promptly gone and thrown up afterwards. Lovino's skin was covered in dirt and dust and his bright hazel eyes sparkled as he tied off the scarf and looked around, before starting East.
Time to go scavenging.
// eugh. I wasn't sure how to start? H o p e f u l l y this is fitting? Y'now what, just take it.
No worries!!
I know on mobile it's in the top right corner of your screen if you click on your icon a bar pops out or whatever but,,, yeah!
I mean.
Fantasy we could do something along the lines of (royalty got powers/y'all peasants don't). Ooor just everyone has got powers. Or mystical creatures or smthn.
Oh!!! Yeah!! That sounds goood~
Do you have any particular ships you were looking to do? I'm open to anything, other than incest, and I can also try new characters~!!
oh!! I actually,, love spamano haha
But yeah that works out! As for who is royal I don't mind either way. I know Royal Spain/Peasant Roma is a little overused in the Spamano community but I honestly don't mind it as long as there is a fairly decent portrayal on both sides, but I'd also be up for Royal Roma/Peasant Spain? I mean,,, either works.
I mean,, we could do a thing where Roma sneaks out or, depending on Toño's profession, he could've gone out with a servent or something after begging or w/e to buy his goods! Those are just some ideas, haha, but add on if you'd like
Yeah!! That sounds good! Though I am going to sleep now,, ooops,, , but if you want to start I can work on a reply in the morning when I wake up! I'm in EST and I just got out of school today, so I'm just tired ![]()
Modern sounds a-okay with me!!! Though usually when I do royalty I rp in mideviel times so excuse any slip ups, oops. And the name is perfectly fine, haha. It's not v/ important anyways, but I like the name cx
Also, Im switching Rome's role from 'grandfather' to 'father' for plot purposes; else, Lovino would have the throne already. Ok? Ok ?//
Lovino had begged.
He had begged and begged and begged and begged to go out into the town, to see something outside of their vast courtyard and towering castle. It all got boring to him. Sure, he could cook or draw or read or do something with his two younger brothers but at this point he was bored of it all. He wanted adventure! Excitement! Sure, maybe he won't get much adventure in the town other than a street fight or something but it was a good start, right? Whatever. But all we wre focusing on, for now, is the fact that Lovino wanted out. Eventually and quite to his favor, his stern father had caved in and told him that he could go out with one of the servents the next day when they went to buy groceries. Lovino was elated. He could go out! Out of these stuffy castle walls and into the fresh air that he was barely allowed to see. And it was as wonderful as he had thought it would be.
Lovino had been forced to put on clothes more simple than he had been wearing before, being told thar it'd 'attract unwanted attention, sir'. He wasn't too keen on that prospect, while at the same time he was unsure about what this unwanted exactly was, but he had been ordered to listen to the servent by his father during their little escapade. Initially, he had pitched a fit. Lovino was the prince! He shouldn't have to listen to a lowly servant! But after Roma warned that he listened to the servant 'or else' he gave up. So, there Lovino was: digging through his clothes in an attempt to try and find then most simple clothing that he had. Then they were heading out.
The first thing he had remembered noticing, as they neared the heart of the town, was all the smells. They were all strongly unique, and it almost reminded Lovino of the kitchen back home. But here it was stronger and more exotic. Then it was the people. So many people! They walked this way and that, busy with their own daily lives that they barely even looked up toward him and his newly found servant buddy. He was torn between irritation and being intrigued. Maybe he didn't speak it out loud, but Lovino liked to be recignized. He liked to hear praises thrown in his direction. But at the same time he was curious. What was so important that they didn't bother actually looking at anyone?
They had stopped in a few various stores by this time, and Lovino was about ready to complain to the servant about his legs being tired but Lovino kept his mouth shut. If his father heard from the servant that he'd been a pain he surely wouldn't be allowed to tag along any other time. The smells that hit him when he entered the next shop, though, were just about enough to make him forget about his father and whine to the servant about how he should get extras of this stuff, whatever it was. Bread? He was pretty sure it was bread. Wide hazel optics scanned the room around him, sparkling with curiousity and downright wonder as he slowly followed the servant to the front counter, too busy admiring the shop itself to pick up his pace just yet.
replied!! I meant to post on here earlier but I never hit the button haha oops
