"Right..." he replied. Judging from the scene he could tell they were almost at the coffee shop. He felt like he had thought too much about the situation yet, it didn't feel like he thought enough. Whenever he met strangers, he would always study their movements and behaviors first in order to tell what kind of person he or she was by eliminating certain possibilities. It was his way of thinking and only his alone.
There was one thing he had forgotten to consider. Was she a ghoul? A human? Alien? He would always think of the most ridiculous ones since his policy was to expect the unexpected.

"To expect anything would be a very wise thing to do Yoshigaki. Human or ghoul it doesn't matter. That's how you will remain to live and survive in this world." his father had said to him when he had asked what to do if he was alone. The sad thing was he explained that to him right before he left their home and never came back.

A tear rolled down his face but he quickly wiped it off, not wanting the girl to notice.

Distracted by thought, he answered suddenly. "Y-Yeah, I'm okay." he cleared his throat. "So she's not here then?" he asked, now noticing he had walked a long distance with the girl into an alleyway.
He clapped his hands together. "Well! It was nice knowing you Tsubasa-chan. I need to go off now to continue my studies since the search lasted a bit longer than I expected. Sayoonara!" he exclaimed with a smile. He waved and headed the other direction since he couldn't spend another second in creepy and dark places like where they were in now. Call him a coward or scaredy-cat he didn't care, Yokashi just didn't want to get any trouble with his teachers or anyone else while he was still outside. Plus it seemed a likely place for ghouls to have their happy fun time killing people.

Getting out of her dreaming state, Otoro suddenly realized how long she had stayed in the cafe. She quickly stood up and headed out of the door. She had already gotten used to the Anteiku air and it had been intoxicating.
She walked out, thanking the waiters for their service and headed back to her alleyway. Adjusting her backpack on her shoulders, she wandered around for a bit, observing her surroundings of Tokyo. Peaceful yet crazy since it was a main city.
As she looked around she started thinking about a variety of things. Exactly how many ghouls were there in Tokyo? What of the investigators? She hadn't seen a single one since she had arrived which gave her an uneasy feeling. There were plenty in the 4th though she knew the reasons why (one of the reasons being her herself).

A peculiar scent made its way to her nose. She stopped walking. She sniffed the air, taking in more of the scent. It smelled so...familiar. Why was that? It smelled more human than ghoul. Her senses were getting messed up from just smelling it. Why had it interrupted her in that way? She decided not to interact with it and went the other way, taking a detour to her territory.

Yokashi gritted his teeth as the ghoul took a bite of his shoulder. This couldn't be happening, this could definitely not be happening. One of his suspicions were right and he just knew he should have stuck to it.
Something felt off though. Gripping his shoulder and wincing in pain, he recalled a slight pause before she did what she did to him. Hesitation?
There was blood all over his hand and neck, almost dripping off to his back and arm. Oh god, he thought to himself. He began going into panic but still trying to calm himself down as he tried to escape her range. Tears became forming in his eyes since the pain had become too great on him. He was a fool to think that she would be human.

He started laughing but still managed to crack a smile while still in pain. "Heh... I applaud you for tricking me into this... Tsubasa. Not many people I know... can do that." He had to somehow get her grip completely off so he can leave with only this injury alone. Maybe he could pull some things off on what he learned at the academy in the CCG. Though, he doubts he would be any match for her. Plus he didn't really enjoy fighting unless it were debate.

Otoro now heading back to her alley, thought about what she would do for the time being. She would need to ask some people around in order to find the mask shop, but who exactly? She didn't want to rely on that too much since she still felt a bit tired. She sat down in the middle of the pathway and pulled out her book. She felt better reading outside than inside since it was easier for her to concentrate when hard words came up. This is what she did instead of going to school like other humans and ghouls would. She felt that she would easily be rejected from her classmates and teachers since she was known to wreak havoc in areas that didn't need to be disturbed.

Her Ecology book seemed rather heavy in comparison to other books in the library she had went to. She enjoyed big books because of how much information that she can absorb reading a couple hundred pages a day. She was a very fluent reader after all, and her vocabulary followed as the same. To her, she was smart, but not when it came to hunger and preserving certain resources.

The scent kept on bugging her as she read, making it hard for her to focus. She sat down in various positions, trying to shake the feeling off but she just couldn't. Next thing Otoro knew, she was staring at the one sentence that popped up in the Parasites and Virus section. ...they would absorb and devour the dead parts until there was nothing left. Why had it felt so familiar? The scent of whoever that was she probably must have known, or her mom must have known. A guy? This bugged her to a certain extent. She herself must have known him sometime ago but she couldn't place her finger on when...

Yokashi nodded in agreement as he stumbled almost falling. Telling anyone would be a mistake she said. Yokashi valued his life a lot since he was practically the only one left in the family as far as he knew. He gripped his shoulder tighter. This is going to leave a bad scar. Yeah, he had to stay positive to ignore the pain. He was just going to walk the streets, upright. He didn't encounter anything strange today, nope! As he was walking, he glanced back at the alley entrance that he had come from. Trusting no one would be a better way to live now that he learned his lesson, thanking the gods that he had been spared. Though, why he was spared he did not know. He didn't know some ghouls were as soft as that. Also the hesitation before...

He made sure to avoid contact with the arm he had gotten bitten by onto other people he had passed. He had to get home quickly and fast in order to avoid unnecessary infections to make the day even greater than it was before. He knew how to operate himself with his private medication kit.

Tsubasa the Ghoul huh...truly fascinating how that all happened. Now the motives of ghouls puzzled him. If there were other like she, than what other things do ghouls do besides killing others and trying to get accepted by society? Do the have other things that they might want to do that humans have always done? So many questions yet little information. He needed to know.

Hearing the voice, Otoro quickly snapped out of her thoughts. A ghoul was asking for directions...was she to answer him or ignore...She decided to respond, since she wasn't into her reading yet anyway.

She turned around looking at the man and that where his feet were...was he afraid to intrude?
"Oh! Uhm... I think the mask shop is further down that way," she said pointing to the end of alleyway towards the east. "I don't know any more directions from then on...though I was planning on going there later today."
Maybe they would find the shop together in hopes of finding a mask. She felt a little bit happier now that another ghoul had a likely interest as her.

Yokashi finally made it to his apartment building, thankfully there weren't many people around to see him awkwardly walk around and up the stairs to his home. Opening the door with his other hand, he quickly closed it and went to get his medicinal supply box in his cabinet. He managed to open the box with a few unsuccessful efforts and looked for alcohol to treat his wound. After applying it he continued on bandaging his shoulder so no blood was visible. He then washed off what was left and put it away. Reading medical books from the school and some you can borrow in the CCG was helpful at certain times in his life.

Yokashi went over to his work table and put his study books down. He turned on a light, since he knew that he would be working most of the night since it was a pretty big test and compared to End-of-Year exams it was quite similar. He found his CD collection and inserted it into a player that connected to a stereo. Whenever he studied he took it seriously.
