Once her pile of moss had been established, Vix would nose her way back out of the den and head towards the fresh-kill pile. Upon arriving at the pile, the apprentice would select a plump mouse, dipping her head and grabbing it between her jaws gently before advancing to the elders den. As she made her way to the log in which her grandfather slept in, she had to use all self-restraint to stop herself from sinking her teeth into the tasty morsel, as she had not eaten today.
"Im here!" Vix would announce, crawling through the hollow tree log, And peering into the darkness as her eyes adjusted to the lack of light. "You're later than usual" Her grandfather, Slittedgaze, would rumble as he pushed himself into a sitting position, arthritic joints creaking in retaliation. "Sorry i was busy," Vix would explain sheepishly "But i brought you some fresh-kill" she ended in a purr, dropping the mouse between the old tom's paws and placing herself a respectable distance away. The tom would bend down to take a bite, revealing teeth yellowed with age. "Thanks." his voice softened, as he took a bite, chewed it, and finally swallowed it. "So what did you do today, young 'un?" He'd query, bending down for another bite. "Uh, Berrywing took me battle training with Flamepaw, and i managed to beat- err i mean unbalance, him by targeting his paws!" Vix happily rambled, seeing Slittedgaze nod in approval. Whilst the apprentice had been talking, the tom had taken a few more bites, nearly finishing the mouse off. "It sounds like you're doing well," he'd praise, tongue flicking around his maw, searching for remains. "You must be starved now, do you want any?" He'd gesture to the remainder of the mouse. "Nah, im fine" Vix would assure him, giving him a small smile. Slittedgaze would give a small sigh as he gulped down the last few bites, and began to groom himself; a low purr erupting from his chest.
It was obvious Vix was no longer needed and so she would back out of the log, calling out her farewells as she turnt around and bounced off, stretching her legs out as she headed back towards her den. Catching sight of a movement in the corner of her eye, Vix would turn and notice Hollytwig. Shooting the medicine cat a smile, she'd call out a greeting.
