Noctis was conceived by a feminine wolf and a male wolf, who was below curriculum standards, as he was a lone soul and a druid one at that. Thus, that fateful night after their coupling, Noctis's mother stepped back into the territory of her home pack. Despite having rolled in mud and drenching herself in a lake, it was not enough to completely erase the sent. Thus, her pack immediately smelt her treason and she was chased off of the territory, forced to keep both herself and her developing offspring alive in the harsh winter. She first went in search of her mate, albeit he was nowhere to be found, and so as her due date crept in, she settled into an abandoned den, feeding off of leftovers from bears and other packs. As spring crept in, three little pups were born, filling a desolate den with ascending hope. As the pups grew, it seemed they their futures were bright despite their bleak upbringing, until a pack of druids raided their den. Noctis and his siblings, accompanying their mother on their first hunt. Tired and starving after having spent all their energy on taking down a bull elk, their excitement was ailed with trepidation as a group of druids emerged from out of the thick foliage surrounding them, having all intentions on taking the kill the family had worked so hard to obtain.

Time slowed and sound ceased as they all stood, anticipating one another's actions. Suddenly, one wolf lunged and all hell broke loose. The cubs were still far too small to take on an adult, let alone a whole pack, and so they quickly fled -- though not without a few injuries. Their mother, on the other hand, was not so lucky. Caught up in their terror, they had all fled in separate directions, instincts telling them to run as long as their legs would allow. By the time Noctis had stopped running, he knew not where he was nor where his siblings had gone. It took him days to find his way back to his home den, and the only assurance he found was his mother's dead body, lying nearby the spot where their kill had once been, obviously dragged away by the druids. His siblings, he never found.

And so began his life of solitude.

❝ People can't be trusted; not even myself. ❞

Noctis is a slightly taciturn young androcentric wolf who takes pride in his capabilities but lacks in amour-propre. Being silent and reserved to those he deem unknown, he is articulate in speech when needed to speak; he chooses his words carefully and with tact, though, if piqued, he can obtain a sharp-tongue. Perhaps being a little ways overly circumspect (often due to a lack in trust), he prefers to keep his thoughts to himself. He obdurately adheres to a firm set of aphorisms; he is empirical to a limited extent, though at times his sentimental issues drive him to make audacious decisions. Noctis is hesitant to forgive as he takes gradually to anger; being one whom has a cacophonous presumption upon others, he is known to shy away from those who are unfamiliar for lack in better temperament as he does not take kindly to oppositions opposed to him; he may come off as frigid or indifferent at best. However, he is willing (albeit hesitant) to extend a hand of affiliation if he deem the individual relatively conscientious.

Not only am I possibly looking to give this character a mate, but I'm also looking to create a story. Due to thus, not only am I allowing potential female suitors, but I am allowing others (male and female alike) to join in this thread as either friends, enemies, acquaintances, et cetera. I only require that you post more than three sentences, at the least. I am most comfortable with advanced literacy, and honestly, people who post one-liners (and who have bad grammar) leave no room for good interaction in a role-play. If you can, a paragraph would be great. Also, beforehand, I warn all of you not to take the actions of my character at heart -- everything is for in character purposes and are not personal.

Upon joining this thread, I would love to see a simple form of information -- just the basics like age, and appearance. History and personality are optional.

I would be most grateful if you did, Casco. If I decide it is worth the effort, I plan on making a pack very unique and different.
When I come up with an idea, you two will surely be the first to know. I'm currently considering making a pack that preforms services for other packs in dire need -- like body guarding and assassinations. You could say Assassin's Creed probably influences that .-.

On the other hand, would anyone like to start role-play?

(( ooh: No problem! I have writer's block, so I can understand )).

To the masculine with oculars of the calm sea, the humdrum songs of feathered critters failed to grab his attention, boredom creeping up on him like an unwarranted menace where he was unwanted. Standing from his alighted position like a predator recoiling from somnus, his sharp digits dug into the moist soil, his bodice shaking furiously to rid his fur of the multitude of debris that had clung to him desperately. Lifting his maxilla and mandible into the air, the breeze fluctuated, accompanied with the redolence of prey -- a rabbit by the likes of it. As he pursued the scent by direction of front currents, he realised that the scent was traveling his way much faster than he was traveling to it. His ears swivelled, nares flaring as a second scent pervaded the once desolate atmosphere. His ears flattened against the apex of his cranium, lips twitching up in mock growl. Deciding to go unnoticed lest the fellow wolf prove itself ailing to his wellbeing, Noctis disappeared into the nearest thicket of foliage.

Time crept to an agonising halt, his keen luminaries able to depict through the orifices of the foliage, seeing the feminine individual advancing towards his ill-planned hiding position. He arose back unto his foundations before gradually stalking out of the bush, his tail occasionally flickering aggressively, warning her of a possible pending attack. His ebony labrums pulled back to divulge in a set of wickedly curved fangs, a low growl rumbling from the confines of his throat. Under other circumstances, a fight would be avoided at all costs, albeit in this incident, the female had stumbled upon him. "Antagonising someone like myself may be your biggest mistake yet; declare innocence while I still have the patience, vixen," he retorted coldly, allowing a seconds glance at the fresh kill she had just accomplished. He snapped his maw, emitting a sharp clicking sound at the impact of his jaw pressure, ivory bicuspids glinting in the light offered by the celestial sphere hanging above them. He lowered his cranium just above the ground, his cerulean ocular glancing up at him with a mischievous glint within them, daring her to have the audacity to object.

Like adding kerosene to an ascending flame, the scent of yet another pair of wolves were noted by his sensory glands. Fearing that the maiden before him may have been accompanied, all confidence descended as his ears flattened and his growling ceased. With cautious steps, he proceeded to move backwards away from the feminine organism before him and the two incoming scents. This turn of events was one that threw his careful lifestyle off track; as someone used to living in solitude, the presence of three others was perhaps too much to stomach. Plus, his initial judgement of the wolf who had stumbled upon him was not a very good one, and he had doubt that the other would be any different. Fighting had never been anything he had honed, thus to come against three surely would end in his death. He may have nothing to live for, but he still did not plan to die today; not under such circumstances.

(( Short post = short. Sorry, on my phone >.> ))

Role-play example | A pigmented ivory arrhenotokous laconically sauntered athwart the chersonese, the peninsula of his saggital cranium executed a svelte drip to the predominately mahogany land. Pale hues oceaned a moments breath of ocherous, assiduous haunches bristling with warning. Analysing each apathetic wedge between terminally passaged foliage, a neurotically nostalgic convivial to adopt to hospitality in margins. Careening to simple behaviour, the brute alighted upon the terrain, the melanoid indifference that commonly snaked from his cultural phyaranx slipping betwixt tenacious orifices with a monotone articulation, masking his loneliness beneath a blanket of insanity upon converse with himself. Rising to his foundations upon humdrum occurrences sifting through his basket of pleasant silence, the androcentric lupus sauntered forth once more, empty eyes searching for inferior prey to brutalise and disfigure. In all of it's usual presence, an apathetic façade took place, typically one of the scowl, or humorous sneer. A disquiet smile reprimanded rarely, founded by a faux. Something not of reality, the curiosity in eyes of all.

(( I bet you're asking 'what did I just read'? I dunno; I'm asking 'what did I just write?' Tried to see if I still had my old, old, old literary skills, but I just ended up writing crap in circles. Basically, the wolf is prowling around with a cold haughtiness, smells the ground, thinks he has smelt something dangerous, looks around, sees nothing, sits down, talks to himself, and walks off in hopes of finding victims to destroy; don't worry, I don't usually role-play like this -- much easier to read, for sure )).

    R O X

To the unfriendly murrs of a sleeping lupus accompanied a seasonal song, a melody of bristling leaves and branches about unrelenting trees and feathered sopranos laughing about a desolate zoo. Twas too early, albeit schedules suggested that the attraction would be infiltrated by homosapiens by the late evening. Soft cracklings of digits along floorboards punctuated such a disdainful occasion as the sea sick wolf tried to regain his bearings. His human captures battered sticks against the crate, hoping to stir the drowsy male, still shrugging off the sea sickness of the transportation and the drugs they had tranquillised him with. Hints of impish light gleamed into the cracks of the crate, throwing the glistening off-white coat of a record-sized wolf into pained violation before receding to leave him in the darkness. To the unmotivated wolf, the disturbances and voices could no longer motivate him to lash out and act rashly, thus prompting the human beings to assume that the male was sickly and needed vet attention. With a last ditch effort, the humans began softly patting the crate once more in unison, causing the beast to become even more disoriented and agitated.

Get up, big boy… Nicolai only blinked, staggering to his feet, using the walls of his prison to support himself. Ballistic jerks of action took place as he felt a finger poke his pelt and he began to growl, clawing at his prison. Alright, let him out! Nicolai analysed through the small cracks of his crate, seeing the ugly two-legged creatures walking off, whence he soon found the lid of his crate opening. Immediately, he dashed out, latching his digits into the ground to change direction, swivelling around where he thought his captures would be. As he turned, he found that his human captures were on the other side of a fence, having opened the crate with a rope tied to the top of the sliding door. Seeing as he could not tear them to shreds just yet, he gave in and turned around languidly, stalking off to the other side of the enclosure, away from the thick foliage, and alighted himself in the cover of the slightly long grasses that offered just enough coverage to make him feel hidden.

Still recovering from the lulling rocking of the ship he had been transported on, Nicolai brought his cranium up upon the scent and sound of a feminine wolf, the usual mischievous and deceitful glint in his eyes extinguished for the time being as long as he felt like he did now. Upon identifying the cause of his alarm, he noted that she was a muliebrous with a coal/ashen coat, accents of pure grey trickled about. He arose to his foundations like the weak animal he was, divulging his full physique to her. "Do you know where we are?" Under any other circumstance, Nicolai would have been able to figure it out all on his own, but he was at a loss; after all, how many wolves heard stories of zoos whence animals were captive against their will for the sole purpose of entertainment to the humans? He licked his ebony lips, scrutinising the area. It was enclosed, with seemingly no means of escape.

To the masculine of eyes with the palest hues, the alias in which 'Roxie' had an explanation for did not suit his knowledge, for he had nary any recollection of having ever heard such a term. The tempest's voice quickly brought Nicolai back from the reverie until he found himself staring at a spot behind her. 'Quite aptly named,' he thought to himself skeptically, raising an eyebrow at the female's request for his recognition. "Does it matter?" He responded to her question, looking up and looking down again, wondering if he could perhaps excuse himself quickly to avoid probing questions; he could probably acquire information from others elsewhere — probably. "It's Nicolai," he continued briskly, taking this opportunity to glance upon Roxie once more, his ocular pools diverting to partake in the sight of another brute backing away from him. In this, Nicolai took great pleasure. If it had not been for his size, he still would have been intimidating -- given the scars etched across his right eye. Albeit now was nary the time for such frivolous activities on his part, as he had a crisis on his hands. Taking the slightest step closer to her, he lowered his cranium to level with her luminaries, their breath mingling together in a brief moment of intense close-proximity. He inhaled sharply, her redolence fluctuating into his nares until he was familiar with her scent.

Suddenly, he turned around just as quickly as he had closed the distance between them, pacing back and forth as he dared glances up at the sky occasionally, taking note of the high walls and wired fences. "What's a zoo?" He hated to admit his ignorance, but the curiosity was eating away at his conscience.

Nicolai's pink tongue rasped along his ebony labrums, alighting himself upon the terrain with a soft thud -- the sound of his defeat. Nicolai may have not known about the existence or near mentioning of a zoo, but he had heard plenty of the humans, and knew that they were intelligent creatures, no matter how ugly inside and out. If they wanted them to stay in this enclosed exhibit, then stay they would; there was not much Nicolai could do about it. Worst of all, he was likely stuck with the others in this vicinity. His first impression of Roxie was that of a decent one, but he could not speak the same for the others. Then again, he mustn't be quick to assumptions just yet, as he still had yet to meet them. As it all seemed, they were purposefully avoiding him. Fine by him. Perhaps the humans would get the message and would be prompted to move him to a separate enclosure where they felt he would not bully the others. "What do we do now?" Humans were not his level of expertise -- they were no ones level of expertise. But he probably knew less about the situation than anyone here. For once in his life, he was not the brightest crayon in the box.

Nicolai hummed in mock acknowledgement, deeming their situation hopeless, though silently to himself. And suddenly, Nicolai could sense cool hostility, as harsh as the edge of a serrated blade, emanating from a point in the chaos strewing before him. Swiftly, he brought his ears upwards, the back of his neck prickling uncomfortably. His mind was quite oddly blank, save for the slight irritation bordering the edges of thought at being interrupted in his reverie with such an unwarranted statement, but there was no time to think about that for now. Nicolai let his gaze flicker over the fleeting faces for the source of such blatant aggression, a taut grimace forming his lips. It simply would not do if the enemies were found right in the enclosure with him, but the chances of that was outrageously laughable — Nicolai had no doubt in his abilities to take care of such sorts. He snapped his mandible and maxilla out of habit, emitting a crisp 'click' sound.

'There.' He could sense apathetic eyes boring into them, and, tossing his head lightly to shake off such a nasty feeling, advanced elsewhere from the female with the obnoxious emotions, her aura putting him at a dangerous edge. Nicolai and her were not unalike in some ways other than the fact he was calculated and tactful, able to blend in with others if he wanted to in order to lure them in. She, on the other hand, was all kinds of undesirable. If anything, he found her to be laughable more than menacing. In his upbringings, it could have gotten him killed had he dared make outbursts like that; everything had to have elegance, with just the slightest touch of insanity; professional, if you will. As if forgetting the situation and the presence of all those around him, he sunk into the shaded darkness of the foliage, disappearing into oblivion until he wanted to be found.

Submerging from within his solitary confines, the androcentric organism took note of the tense emotional atmosphere, causing his ears to swivel, feigning interest rather than letting it be known that he was slightly disarrayed by the sudden plummet in atmosphere. At once, all seemed to be pervaded with cessation at the newly announced presence of the bitter female, and the silence was where it was welcomed. Ruffling his coat with a quick shake of the bodice, he found his appendages carrying him toward Roxie, for she was all he was familiar with in this desolate, energy-draining vicinity. "What happened?" It had seemed like the last remnants of the drugs that had once been coursing through his bloodstream had ceased to effect him, and the sea sickness had subsided, leaving him slightly more vibrant than before. On the other hand, he was hungry. Scanning his surroundings, he concluded that either they would starve, or the humans would eventually feed them. Hopefully, they understood that wolves at a lot.

Nicolai did not really even need Roxie's answer to know whom was responsible. In all blatant honesty, Nicolai felt that his dominance was threatened; in a pack of large, murderous brutes and petite albeit lethal females, he had never felt threatened, because they had been his family. However, gazing upon the likes of this brute of a female (who should have been born a male), he was uneasy with the thought of her parading around like she owned the place. When it came to her, in this austere environment, he felt a realisation of something… different. T'was not her act of vengeance on the innocent, or her mistaken air of arrogance and repent for something from her past -- he did not give two elk droppings about her and her false sense of superiority. He feared for his own sake, and he would sooner see her decapitated than let her make this any more stressful than their situation already was. Unfortunate though the circumstances were, contained before them were far more potent things at hand. Nonetheless, to the wary present, the masculine gave a mirthless smirk, ivory bicuspids illuminated by the phosphorescent light of the celestial sphere.

The evening, having barely awoken, was now fraught with scents and noises. Bickering children were ushered along to view the animals by faceless parents who seemed to loath the lack in control they had over their children. Defiant teenagers complained about their reason being here, clearly finding no amusement in this gathering. 'You and I both, kid…' All of these trite, uninteresting details served to remind him that confronting the female now would only cause more commotion and attention to them if a fight ensued. Giving the female a purposeful contemplation, his ocular pools exposed fractures of distaste. 'I'm going to correct you,' his eyes told her, before he ripped his gaze away and sauntered languidly after Roxie. The slightly orange-hued male did not go unnoticed, and witnessing the disgust he presented in drinking the water, Nicolai already knew that supplies here were below satisfying. He watched as the male began walking off, but not without a warning. "Be careful of the large, brown female; she's most certainly a ticking time bomb." With those words, he reached Roxie and the discovery of the deer. It even smelt old. No matter, he was hungry and he had dibs on the cranium.

Parting his tenacious orifices, he lunged for the trachea, rigorously shaking his head in order to lacerate and serrate the flesh. He would eat the meat around the neck, and it would then make it easier for him to decapitate it, and the brains and eyeballs were all his.

ooc | Yeah, your posts are completely fine.

All was quiet, with nary a word spoken…

By the time Nicolai had eaten the meat from around the pharynx and had deposited the brain and engulfed it as well as the eyeballs, night had begun to fall, and all resumed silence as the human presences dissipated into oblivion, though not without leaving their stench behind. The smell of hotdogs, popcorn, cotton candy and other seemingly tasty foods still hung in the air, nearly suffocating him. Having been gnawing on the cranium of the doe, he stood from his feast like a predator recoiling from slumber. He had meant business when he had wordlessly confronted the female, and with only the occasional nightly security guard wandering around without really paying much attention to the animals, he felt like now was the most appropriate time lest a battle commence. The last thing they needed were ascending conflicts, but in his case, war was his game and blood was his curse. Quietly, he stalked toward the seemingly resting vixen, though he had no cowardly acts of preemptive strike in mind. Mere feet from her form, he situated himself prominently upon the hiemal sward whilst curling his thick plumage over his secondary appendage. There, he waited in eerie silence for her to rise.

In a moment of eerie calm before the inchoation of a tumultuous incident to come, the silent executioner watched in indifference as the physique of the large female stirred in what appeared to be a dream of less-than-desirable proportions. Even if he wanted to feel empathetically pitiful for her, he could not; empathising and caring was not something that had ever been acutely in his daily routine. Ever since his youth, he lived by a creed which mentioned never compromising the pack, never getting emotions entangled in political affairs, and never harm nor kill the innocent; too bad the one lying below him was no damsel in distress -- quite the opposite. It had been far more busy than it was merely an hour ago. Nicolai let himself meld into the unanimous ebb and flow of the night air, hoping against hope that he would lose himself within the stoic-minded cover of the darkness. The sorrowful night sky was pregnant with silver stars, glittering bitterly through despondent lashes of clouds and the continuous blink of artificial illuminations. He watched carefully as the body stirred once more, barely managing to disguise a grimace of caustic acclaims for the crude actions of the brute of a tempest as he sidestepped away from her, preforming a steady, predatory volte around her being.

"I'm certain that it will be a challenge for someone such as yourself, as I first request that you listen." The muscles under multiple points of his derma rippled, tightening with the anticipation of his first fight in what felt like centuries to him. "You're not superior, you're not scary; you're just an inexperienced, obnoxious psychopath, dumber than any other psychopath I've ever encountered. You are not, in any way, above any one else." As a sociopath himself, he found the slightly distinctive idiosyncrasies of the psychopath to be rather conflicting with his own. While he liked to blend in to appear normal, the psychopath tended to act irrationally, impulsively, and blamed their victims on their actions. Sociopaths weren't killers, sociopaths were minimalists who strived to manipulate unlike their psychopath counterparts. In the eyes of someone such as himself with his disposition, he was a wolf in sheep's wool, and she was the mindless, domesticated dog ruining his cover.

"I'm sure these words will only bounce off of your skull and pool to the ground like all of your other common sense, but you need to cut the crap. You may think you're invincible, but you've got another thing coming." Unlike her, Nicolai preferred not to get into any fights he did not need to get into -- especially at such a critical point in time, and especially since he had vowed not to awaken the skills he had been raised around. However, if a good quarrel was what it took to open her eyes and shut her up, so be it. "Don't make me hurt you," he murmured with a sadistic grin; this was wrong, this was inappropriate, but he had not ripped another wolf's flesh in so long. She was fresh, she was alive, and he was doing a favour, right? He inhaled, able to smell her scent, her redolence and take it in for all it was worth. This was the closest he got to falling in love. He was in love with her. He was in love with seeing her in pain. "I'd hate to disfigure such a pretty face with such a nice accent to compliment."

Nicolai chuckled, one that was neither hearty nor with well intentions whatsoever; if anything, it had underlying layers of malice and ailing intentions. 'I was hoping she'd object,' he thought to himself, mirth and glee bubbling within his chest cavity, which was now surely nothing other than liquid filled with sugar particles. This was his playground, and it was full of candy. From the confines of his cavities, a rumbling growl emanated up his trachea, ripping past his lips -- though he was clearly containing it as it was more like a 'murr' than that of an actual growl at all. He steeled himself, feeling the earth beneath him with his digits, his hind legs tensing. Splitting his tenacious orifices, a bloodcurdling screech bellowed past the open passage, piercing the eerie envelope of oxygen as he lunged forth. His mandible and maxilla were parted, ivory bicuspids and fangs glinting in the phosphorescence emitted by the moon.

Nicolai anchored himself to the ground, swerving around sharply to face his opponent without a beat behind. Her words came out of her mouth like bloody nonsense, no language able to get through to him now. She could talk all she wanted, but her words would dissipate just like his sanity -- he was far gone now, too caught up in the desire to sink his teeth into her flesh at least just once. If all he could get out of this was a single bite, it would be worth it, no matter the wound to his pride. "I'm not partaking in your ungainly waltz, child," he snapped in frustration. He knew she was trying to read him. That did not bother him. She could analyse him all she wanted, and he'd still be able to change tactics as many times as needed. "You speak of skills, and so far I'm disappointed…" He watched her crouch, licking his maw tentatively before lunging once more with a speed foreign to someone of his size.
