Feather shivered as she walked outside. The cold air felt heavy on her long pelt, an unwelcome change from the warmth inside; though something so small wouldn't stop her. The young housecat padded through the thin layer of fluffy snow inside her housefolk's yard, wonder filling her eyes as she looked into the starry sky. Cloudless tonight. Perfect. She loved it when she could view the stars and try to draw shapes in them.

That was what the young housecat did for a while, staring at the sky and drawing triangles, squares, and if she was feeling creative, animals. Although fun, this didn't entertain her forever, and with a small 'thud', Feather perched on the fence that separated her house from the rest of the block.

As she didn't feel cold yet, the silvery she-cat decided to stay outside a while longer. Despite how chilly the weather was, Feather loved winter, and it wouldn't kill her to stick around a little longer. She smiled as yet another cold breeze whipped through her long fur, thoughts of others outside in the freezing cold night far away from her mind.

Feather lifted her head as a snowflake gently fell on her face. The silvery housecat tried to look at it for a moment before her eyes turned instead to a pile of snowballs. She smirked, and suddenly tossed a snowball in the direction of the other cats. Snowball fight, huh? This could only end well!

    (1/3)

The housecat hadn't expected to get hit in the face with another ball of snow. "Hey." She hissed playfully, batting another snowball at her attacker. Feather loved winter, this time of year just filled her with energy, laughing as she batted another snowball in the cat's general direction.

    (2/3)

Feather backed away, once more playfully baring her fangs. "No wild cat's getting the best of me that easy!" She declared, shaking the snow off her face. She held another snowball in her mouth and tossed it, along with a mock-glare at Dawnpaw.

    (3/3)

Feather turned with a swish of her long tail. "Fine with me!" She laughed, turning to the newcomer. Without any pause, she then... got hit by six snowballs to the face. "Alright. Everyone for themselves!" The apprentice-aged housecat declared and threw a snowball at each of them.

Feather backed away, going on defensive. She dodged most of the snowballs, though a few hit her flank, sending a chill down her spine even past her long fur. The silvery cat dropped to the ground; burying herself in the snow for a makeshift shelter of sorts. Well, from the snowballs, at least. It wasn't a shelter from the cold.

Feather waited in the makeshift snow-shelter she had created. She tried to make some snowballs, though she was met with little success, the snow she was in was fluffy and didn't pack together well. Well, if she went out now, she would just get assaulted with snowballs... the housecat pondered what to do now.

Feather knew that there wasn't an escape route. She got herself into this, now it was time to get out. She dashed out of her snow hideout, and while coated in the freezing cold snow, ran at Dawnpaw. Her aim was to tackle the apprentice, claws sheathed, and push him(her?) over into the snow. Making Snowcats did sound fun, though; it was time for someone to strike the final blow in this war!... Hopefully, at least.

Lesson learnt, clan cats often weren't fans of foxes. Maple sighed, her breathe forming a frosty puff of air. The snow weighed down her paws and the cold air felt heavy on her pale russet pelt. As she inhaled, the frosty air chilled her lungs. But still, her spirits were rising again. She was away from the cats for now, this was fox territory. Hopefully her own species would be a bit more welcoming, she had been traveling in this weather too long for her personal comfort.

"Hello?" She called, raising her head slightly. "Is anyone there?" Her words made a small cloud as they left her mouth, thanks to the cold weather. If anyone was there, they probably wouldn't answer, and there might not be anyone there in the first place. Maple just felt it was right to check. Maybe there was a fox who wasn't quite so hostile hanging around.

The housecat turned as she heard a voice. "Hmm?" Her eyes widened as the black cat seemed to glare at her. Feather would admit she couldn't fight well at all, and hoped this wouldn't end in a battle. Thankfully, though, he started up a conversation and she relaxed. "Oh. I was just looking for shapes in the sky." She laughed, breaking a smile as well. "I like to do that on clear nights. Have you ever tried it?"

"Well..." Hard question. Feather titled her head as she tried to find a way to explain it. "What I do is pretend I draw lines from the stars that look close together. I make triangles and squares and stuff." The silvery tabby cat glanced at the tom, hoping she had explained it decently well. Feather found stargazing a hard thing to describe.

The pale ginger fox listened, and sure enough there was a voice on the wind. She trotted in it's general direction, keeping an eye out for cues of anyone being there. Maple wasn't usually very cheerful, but finally being in fox territory put the vixen in a bit of a better mood; perhaps this would be a turning point of sorts. Her luck had been terrible thus far. "Anyone there?" She called, if only to confirm the fairly certain fact that she was, indeed, not alone.

The vixen noticed the other fox approaching and cracked a smile. "Hello." She said once more, walking up to her with a faint swing of her tail, trudging through the snow. "Name's Maple. I'm a bit of a traveler; it's good to finally make here." She explained. Might as well try to start a conversation, the fox thought. "What's your name?"

A star... running across the sky? The housecat tilted her head at this. "That sounds... incredible, but I've never seen a star move." She admitted. It sounded wondrous, though, at least to Feather. She could almost picture it, a single speck of a star running in the night sky... though her mental picture was far from the real thing. Not that she could tell. "Hey, mister... what's your name? I'm Feather. Do you know when they'll be a moving star? I really want to see one now." The housecat seemed to avoid stopping for breathe. "It's okay if you haven't seen one, of course, but it sounds really cool and..." She trailed off, an energetic look in her eyes.

"A... white vixen?" Maple chuckled. "Sounds like they would blend into the snow." Well, there was someone in her head. Better make sure. "Did run into one, though, on the way here. Was it an albino, or just a white fox?"

Feather nodded slowly. "I'll try staying up for a while." She purred, still trying to imagine a shooting star. How fast would it move? Would it be brighter, or alike to the other stars? Could it fall and hit something?... The young housecat still thought it sounded amazing. "Maybe not tonight, though. It's too cold to stay up all night, at least in my tastes."

... Hey, that reminded her of something. "... Hey, Sather, isn't it cold out there?" She motioned to the area outside the fence. "... I mean, it's obviously cold. But I've heard rumours that say it's cold enough to freeze cats to death! Is that true?"

"Well, she seemed like she was in a rush, but she was traveling in the wrong direction if she was trying to find you." Maple blinked. She wondered what this fox did to warrant having another fox on her tail, but that was probably a personal question. Anyways, it wasn't any trouble to her to tell Jodi about the white vixen, so she did just that. "Assuming that was the same fox; the white vixen should be heading south for a while."

Maple blinked again at the barrage of words thrown at her, trying to catch what Jodi was saying. Well... one thing at a time. "You said that maybe we should do something?" The vixen was pretty sure the energetic fox had said something like that. "I'd be alright with that, not sure what to do though."

"Huh. Thought she'd still be heading south." Maple tilted her head. This fox was smarter then she'd have thought, and that could be dangerous. The pale ginger vixen wasn't the best fighter, she'd admit, and started to hope this wouldn't end in a battle... though she knew that would be pushing her already bad luck. "Well... you got a plan, Jodi?" And what'd she do to get this fox on her tail, anyways...?
