Not quite a whisper, but his voice rattled from inside his chest and was only loud enough for her to hear.
"It's not safe for you on Earth, and I can't protect you." His breath tickled behind her ear and the tone of his voice came off a little more sinister than Leon intended. Rounding the last corner of the hallway, he practically pushed her into an office room and slammed the door shut after.
Across the room, guarded by two tall figures, both regarded in suits and facing the blinds-covered window behind them, sat a small silhouette. The office was dark, and with two loud claps, lit up in a heartbeat. Spinning around in the computer chair, a purple skinned woman with swirled yellow hair and red lipstick gazed at them. She was very tiny, maybe 4'11, and skinnier than what was healthy. She wore a pencil skirt and blazer, but you couldn't tell that since she was hidden behind the desk. A small smirk formed on her devilish lips. "Dantalleon," she spoke.
"Nicolaia," he responded.
"What mess have you gotten yourself into this time, boy?" Nicolaia spoke slowly, and had the voice of a middle aged woman who could pass as anyone's aunt as far as audio goes.
"Jeriah's henches tried something I didn't take a liking to. Long story short, I need your help."
Nicolaia raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "You were running with Jeriah's men? I never had you begged as a paperboy, Danny." Leon cringed at the nickname, and even by now had not lot go of the grip he had on Trix.
"I owed him a favor." Leon replied simply.
"For?" Nicolaia pushed.
"I may or may not have f*cked his daughter a little bit too hard and he was pissed when she whined to her daddy about how sore she was." Leon spat, cold and sarcastically.
"Now, Danny, you and I both know that isn't true. You're a lover in bed, not a fighter." By now Leon was more than agitated. "I will admit though, it was hard to walk for about a day after. Just because of the sheer size of-"
"Enough-" he interrupted loudly. "That's enough, Nicolaia."
"Since when are you modest? Especially about sex? Last time you visited me, I could have offered to feel you down and you'd have been hard before your pants hit the floor. I mean," suddenly eyeing Trix, she stopped, an amused look on her face.
"Can it, Nicolaia." Leon warned, reading the woman instantly.
"It's because of the virgin, isn't it?" she began to cackle uncontrollably, stuttering and slurring between gasps of air. After her laughing fit, she wiped her brow and cleared her throat. "Listen, I know you've been with virgins before. So I don't know why you're jumping through hoops for her. She couldn't even get you off like anyone else you have access to- aka me." Separately and to Trix, she added, "Listen honey, let me tell you right now, I'm honestly surprised he hasn't fucked you and left already. So I know you seem all flustered and needy now, but he's not gonna be able to give you what you want in any way except for sexually. Which is good! Especially for powerful women such as myself. But you're young, and needy, and especially a virgin. So you'll get attached. And that'll tear you up more than his d*ck will."
"Nicolaia, do yourself a favor and stop talking." Leon hissed. "I need you to pay Jeriah off, alright?"
Pausing, her hands now fiddling with a pen on her desk, she responded, "And why would I do that for you after the way you've spoken to me in my own office?"
With an irritated huff of breath, Leon released Trix and stalked over to her desk, leaning forward and whispering something that he knew the virgin girl wouldn't find audible by her own ears. After a few seconds, Nicolaia nodded, picked up her telephone, and began to dial a number. By the time the other line had answered, Leon was back at Trix's hip and walking her out. But he felt she seemed distant, and annoyed, and when they were a few feet away from the door and she'd pushed herself from his grasp, his suspicions were confirmed.
