Getting dressed... "I'm a murderer, Mira." Damien eyed his bloody sword. He took it up and sat on the couch, starting to clean the blade. I killed a lot of vampires, but I killed some innocent people who were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Should I be allowed to live here? What if I wish to keep hunting those vampires outside and seek death where it will come to me?" He cleaned the dried blood off the weapon, restoring its shine with some oil. "Humans are still being killed out there."

Damien folded his arms, angrily distraught over the situation. This girl was very, very young. Being turned with such a young mind was a recipe for disaster. Damien knew she was going to kill somebody and not a vampire. By all rights, he should have decided to humanely destroy her, but he felt such sympathy for her sense of regret. He knew he was going to regret this later.

"Alright." He began. "I know how it is to feel responsible for the deaths of others, and my only hope is that you will be wise enough from that not to cause any further deaths. I will let you live and begin your vampire life, but know this. I am watching you. If you become a threat to humanity, I will return and do what I should have done tonight."

He let her up to go and started walking away. "Learn quickly."

    Name: Damien Varomere aka. "Death."
    Age: 1037
    Gender: M
Appearance or Picture: Long straight black hair, deep brown to black eyes, stern expression, light complexion.
History: Vampire Lawbringer. He is the reason why humans don't believe in vampires; he keeps vampires under control. History shrouded in mystery and rumors.
Other: Fights with two scyth-like hand blades.

Damien was in the mountains far from humans. The city lights polluted the sky not far from his location as he levitated over a mountain lake. The brilliant sparkle of moonlight danced beneath his feet.

The kick to the head was enough to tell Damien that this vampire didn't want to hurt him. Damien backed up and shook his head to regain his focus. The girl was weak, and at this time didn't pose a threat. He stood up and lowered his weapons, frowning. "Alright. I don't really want to kill you, and I can see that you don't really want to kill me, but I'll tell you, that girl is going to kill the both of us eventually." Damien turned his back and began to leave.

The depth of those embers, like hot coals at the bottom of the ocean, such were the master's eyes. Inwardly, Damien felt fear. Dracula was far more than a mortal, far more than an immortal, but he wasn't the devil himself. Damien had no doubt the master could make good on his threats, but fear was not what was driving Damien. "I am well aware of your capacity for wrath, my lord, and yes, I fear it... but I would deserve no less if I were to fail you."

"Look into my eyes, master. What do you see? ... Your blood runs in my veins, and I cannot deny it. I am your agent. By doing this, I will cut out the human heart that has tainted me since my remaking unto darkness." Damien prepared himself mentally for the sacrifice he was about to make out of Miranda. "This is how it must be, and the fault is mine." He bowed his head. "I beg you, send me now. Release me to carry out my word."

Having been dismissed, Damien left the throne room for another part of the castle. Dracula's "keep" was immense. Damien walked out onto a long wide rampart between towers, barely able to remember this place. He had been here before in ages past. The sky was open, a bright blood-moon shining, and the waves were crashing rhythmically down below. To a vampire, it was as bright as day. Beside one of the burning braziers, Damien stopped to look out over the water. It seemed so peaceful here.

He thought about what he had to do. It seemed unfair for him to kill someone when they were down, and especially when they trusted him. He hadn't counted on any of this happening, just as Miranda certainly hadn't counted on being what she was. He would have to be cold, and quick, to lessen the girl's suffering.

"When will he kill her? How will it be done?" A woman's voice echoed his private thoughts, catching Damien off guard and irritating him.

He narrowed his eyes. "If you know what's best for you, you will stay out of my mind." He wasn't sure who or what it was, but the fact that he was being watched was not surprising. Damien turned as a half-demon female appeared behind him. She was darkly beautiful, with black wings, curled horns, and a tail.

She smiled. "I am Shakira. Are you threatening me already? Haven't you rejoined us, Damien? We're all very excited." She flicked her tail coming up to him cautiously.

Damien returned his gaze to the horizon. He wasn't interested.

She sauntered slow up to him, placing her hands around his shoulders. "I would enjoy befriending you..." She admired his form as she felt him. "...or torturing you." She smirked.

He shook her off and growled softly.

She jumped back, entertained with herself. "The master has won this round, Damien. Not even if you help the girl could you stop him. I wouldn't suggest disappointing him."

"Dracula is not completely devoid of mercy, Shakira, as much as he'd have us believe it. I have seen it." He continued, "But I will not disappoint him. I owe this to him." The vampire promptly melded into a black mass of bats, disappearing into the sky.

    ---------------------

It was too late in the night for Damien to make his attack. Dawn would soon be upon the world outside Dracula's castle, and thus time was not in his favor. The evening of the next night saw the vampire descend onto the holy ground of a small chapel on the outskirts of town. Even at night, the doors were always open for the faithful to come and go as they pleased. Of course, not very many came after midnight. Such it was, an empty structure, save for father McNealey asleep upstairs, when Damien Varomere entered the open doors.

No, he did not burn, or choke, or bleed. No windows shattered and no candles went out. Damien approached the alter and knelt respectfully. "I know in the end, you will win." He began. "I do not understand your plan, but you have delivered me into the hands of my enemy three times. I do not now why, but it is clear to me that you want me here. I do not mean to test you, lord god, but I tell you, if you do not stop me, then I will kill Miranda. Have mercy on her, and when the time comes, I pray you will also have mercy for Dracula, and me." He then stood and bowed before walking out. Surely other, common vampire hunters or slayers would be out looking for him. It was time to leave this place. He wouldn't be doing any killing of innocents on holy ground.

    Miranda's house.

A few cars drove by. No lights were on. Was she there?

Unlike divinely chosen slayers, vampires did not have a sixth sense to detect their enemies. Granted of course, their other keen senses, and their powers, often gave them enough information. He knew she was there.

A mist in the darkness, he filtered in. He was a thief, an intruder, a plague. Manifesting into human form, Damien's black outline cast a shadow in the moonlight. He was in her room.
