"you don't have to," lucas stated after a moment of silence, figuring he would try his hardest to keep her in their bed with him. "we could cancel this whole dinner," he murmured as he gently brushed his lips against her earlobe. "you could stay right here, i could make your time worth while." he blew out a breath of air against her neck, before gently sucking on his chosen area.

luke couldn't help but laugh, it was amusing how flustered she was getting over the picture. he didn't really care about her picture, she still looked fairly cute back then. he would pick her looking like her picture again over covered in scratches, bruises, and scars, but of course that wasn't anything he could've helped. "were you emo, then?" he asked curiously, raising his eyebrows at her as he grabbed a saltine cracker from the baggy she had been holding. he wasn't hungry, but figured he might as well grab a few pieces to snack on. "or goth? what even is the difference?" he questioned instead, wondering if she could explain the difference to him. he had never really understood before.
he listened to her statement about london, laughing as he nodded his head. "not quite sure it would be the safest thing for me to come along with you, but alright princess." he murmured before biting down on his cracker, quietly chewing for a moment.

andy automatically sobered up at luke's glare, realizing that this probably wasn't his territory to impede on. he racked his brain for another question, soon blurting out, "what football team?" luke relaxed softly at the change in subject, glad that courtney seemed okay. he knew it had to be rough, with daniel constantly being brought up, so he was trying his hardest to make sure that wouldn't happen. "please tell us you're not a michigan fan," ryan groaned out, a small smile on his face.

"thatta girl," ryan grinned out, nudging rebecca's side gently. "we should just stop hanging out with you and start being friends with courtney, she has better football opinions than you." rebecca narrowed her eyes at ryan threateningly, letting him know not to push it. "keep talking and this child will end up a michigan fan too." luke couldn't help but laugh, knowing that rebecca meant every word. "everyone is pretty much an ohio state fan," he murmured to courtney quietly.

luke looked away from courtney as two men walked in, funny enough it was the twins that had grabbed courtney for him. "i'll be right back," he stated before getting up from the couch and heading over to the twins, folding his arms over his chest as they started talking lowly. mackenzie looked back at courtney, waiting a moment before she asked, "what's luke like, when he's with just you?" the group seemed to fall silent at the question, everyone's attention now on courtney.

luke watched her with a small smile as she laid down, relieved that he was able to see this side of her again. he was almost certain that he had lost everything they had when he informed her about who he truly was, but gone was the girl that he first dealt with once again. he quietly reached over and brushed a strand of her blonde hair off her face, chuckling to himself for a moment as he listened to her question.
"you know how i told you before that i was a drug dealer over there and things went south?" he asked, remembering his story about why he came over. "i did the same exact thing i did over here, i was a confidential informant for the police there, and we tried to take them down but i didn't really work out as well as we thought. some other guys on the task force were actually bad cops, and it ended up with me having a nice sized scar on my back and some of the guys within the gang still out of jail, from the last i heard." he thought back to his time in london, gently chewing on his bottom lip for a moment before speaking up again, "they don't know anything about my mom or sister, luckily, but i can't really take the risk of going back over and having one of them see me."

"really?" mackenzie asked with a slight hint of amazement in her voice. toby shook his head slightly at mackenzie, figuring that it would be best for everyone if they didn't dig deep into that conversation. "well, i'm glad," rebecca finally answered, a warm smile spreading across her face. "he seems to really care about you." andy nodded his head in agreement, "i'm sure this isn't really good news for you, but he raised your ransom price higher last night. i asked him why, figured the stakes were already high enough and he said he didn't want to get rid of you quite yet."

rebecca gently bit her lip, figuring she might as well answer her question before luke walked back over. "same reason he's letting you stay in his apartment, which none of us have ever seen, same reason that you're down here now, meeting all of us. he trusts you, he enjoys your company." she smiled softly, resting her hand on her stomach. she was about to say more, but spotted luke walking back out of the corner of her eye and stopped, not wanting him to walk in on a conversation about himself. "so, courtney, what exactly do you get at this favorite diner of yours?" andy asked, folding his arms over his chest quietly.

luke listened closely to what she said, his gaze switching away from her and onto the pond in front of them, noticing two ducks that were swimming along casually. it seemed as though they didn't have a care in the world, and he almost wished he had the stress level of those ducks. "i wouldn't really consider me strong," he laughed out, shrugging his shoulders a little bit. "i just know it's better to keep them safe rather than pushing my luck." he looked back at her as she asked about his scar, shaking his head soon enough. "glass shards, actually. one piece was about four inches, and the rest of the pieces were smaller but still hurt like hell." he gently moved his hand to his back, turning slightly to face her before he lifted his shirt and pointed to the discolored, raised skin on his lower back to the left. he listened to her next question, soon shaking his head again.
"you were under eighteen, right?" he asked curiously, wanting to make sure. if she hadn't been under eighteen, then they probably had a few problems up their sleeves, but he would worry about that later. "as long as you were under eighteen, you're considered a juvenile. they can't charge you with something you did now that you're twenty. even though you look like you're about sixteen." he teased her with a grin, dropping his shirt back down and facing her again.

andy nodded at that, looking over to luke as he paused for a minute then turned around again, heading back over to the two twins. was he trying to impress courtney? not that he would ever admit it, but yes. soon enough he headed back to the couch and sat down next to courtney again, offering her a soft smile. "luke, what's carter been doing?" mackenzie asked curiously, watching as he blew out a sigh. "just keeping an eye on high risk people, making sure no one does anything out of line." he answered with a shrug.

rebecca happily smiled back at courtney, "i'm due in a month or so," she replied, now resting both of her hands on her stomach. "and luke's the dad, too," toby stated with a joking tone, laughing even harder as luke shot him a nasty look. "i am not." luke said firmly as rebecca rolled her eyes, "if luke was the dad then i wouldn't still be in my crappy apartment." she rolled her eyes again as mackenzie reached over and smacked toby's arm. "you're just going to confusion courtney, stop talking you idiot." mackenzie had no tolerance of toby's joking, glaring at him yet again.

    thank you very much!!

luke gently smiled, brushing his thumb over the side of bonnie's hand. if you would've told him two months ago that he would be completely head over heels for a woman he met in a coffee shop, he would've called a doctor for you. but now he couldn't be happier. ben raised his eyebrows at aria slightly, wondering what that look was for. he quietly smiled back at her, figuring that her look wasn't about anything bad.

lucas groaned and let go of her, a soft frown on his face as he watched get. he wouldn't say that he was happy that he hadn't convinced her to cancel the dinner, but he knew it wouldn't be the right thing to do. especially because lucas and charlie were heading back to work tomorrow, it needed celebrated a little bit. he watched her closely, staying under the sheets for a moment as he put his hands behind his head, just casually lounging around.

luke glanced at the time himself, nodding his head. "wouldn't really want to upset him anymore, he's already pissed at me for taking you away." he chuckled at his statement and picked up his sweatshirt, glancing over at ben and aria. "we'll have to do this again," he murmured, smiling slightly. ben nodded his head quickly, definitely wanting to do something like this again. he liked it, he hadn't really been able to have a full conversation with bonnie before.

lucas rolled his eyes, sitting up as he called out, "says the one that made me stink," he called out lamely before judging softly, glancing over at the clock they had on one of the bedside tables, before he got out of the bed, grabbing a t-shirt and some jeans with underwear before he headed into the bathroom, soon enough turning on the shower.

luke reached into the bookbag, pulling out his own water bottle, taking a quick drink of the water. in all honesty, he wasn't really used to talking this much. of course he normally did at work, but not consistently. it was nice, though. getting to talk about more personal things. he quietly shook his head, laughter bubbling up from him. "not thrown through it, when the guys stormed the warehouse i had to act like i was still apart of the gang so i dumbly jumped through a window. landed on my feet, but it still hurt bad." he shook his head at himself, remembering how easily he could've died. he flinched as she touched his scar, his eyebrows raising slightly in surprise. he hadn't really expected her to do such a thing.
he soon focused back onto her question about being arrested, biting down on his bottom lip for a little bit before speaking up. "i'm going to pretend that i didn't hear about the part of you still helping up until we met. i'd just leave it that he had you work when you were under eighteen and you tried to stop but then he would threaten you and take advantage of you." he took another sip of his water, soon chuckling yet again. "whatever you say, sweetheart."

"that sounds fine with me," luke answered with a nod, hoping that it just wouldn't be on a friday. he wanted his nights alone with bonnie, not really wanting to share their time with aria and ben. ben nodded, soon getting out of the booth himself. he smiled at aria gently, figuring that she could take him home, since luke was clearly taking bonnie home.

lucas soon enough got into the shower, just getting a quick shower before he was out in under ten minutes, dressing himself before he headed out into the kitchen, biting his lip as he looked at anna. "i think you just want to tease me as much as possible." he murmured to her as he leaned against the counter and crossed his arms over his chest.

luke looked over to courtney and half smiled, shrugging his shoulders to say, 'what can you do'. "i'm not the father," he told her quietly, hoping that she wasn't confused or anything. "another guy out working is, they've been happily together since high school." he looked over to rebecca, watching as mackenzie asked some questions about her pregnancy. it was almost like a breath of fresh air for luke, reminding him that even his gang members were humans who did human things. plus he was going to be the godfather, so that was pretty cool.
