Well, if the title didn't say it all, then someone might as well say it now.
Mary and Oatmeal sat together- they had been almost inseparable since they joined- debating between themselves. Oatmeal, the one who wanted nothing to do with being social, was saying that they should go out and hunt- be useful! Mary, the social butterfly, wanted to meet everyone in the clan. Mary had won the argument, and now she was deciding the best way to meet lots of cats at once.
So she just sat there for a little bit, not saying anything at all. She wanted to learn everyone's names. Maybe others would approach her. That seemed the most acceptable plan: wait.
Oatmeal, for the record, loved that plan.
Mary Sparkle Gemstone Fabulous Rainbow Breathtaking Stupendous Susan, as the white feline was fully named, looked around for others. Most of them seemed pretty scarred. She wondered how brutal this 'clan' idea was. Sure, Oatmeal was scarred too, but still! This looked tough.
The bland brown tabby gave a huff of annoyance at the fact that they weren't being useful, but stayed next to her sister. Oatmeal and Mary balanced each other out, so Oatmeal got to be social, and Mary didn't send everyone away with her arrogance. It was a pretty good partnership, to be honest.
There, that's explained it. They waited together, hoping others would approach, ready to learn the names of anyone and everyone.
