Kila's eyes flickered across the snowy ground, concealed in the burrow she hid in. Her brown feathers made her stand out in the almost all white landscape. Her green orbs flickered over to the bushes at the sound of movement. She stared, still as the snow, at the bushes beginning to wither from the cold. When she saw nothing she spun her head around almost in a complete circle, checking her surroundings again. When she heard movement from the bush again she quickly looked back. She saw a mouse scurrying. Quietly, as to not startle the small creature, Kila stepped fully out of her burrow. The burrowing owl slowly flew up above the ground, staring down at the winter wonderland below her. Once she was at a height of her liking she flew towards the bush, searching once again for the mouse. As she spotted it she quickly swooped down, her front talons outstretched. As she flew over the unsuspecting creature her claws hooked into its furry body, carrying it off of the ground. She flew above her burrow and dropped it, hearing its body make a light thud as it hit the ground. She landed and picked up the mouse by its tail in her beak, carrying it into her burrow to eat.
