    empathy has four main components; perception, control, psychometry, and clairvoyance. empaths feel the emotions of those around them. its like a sixth sense, and there is no way to turn it off. they have the ability to slightly control others’ emotions. there are places with significant amounts of emotional residue where an empath can feel the emotion, even if there is no one around. these are places like graveyards or significant buildings. if an empath forges an especially strong bond (usually romantic, though sometimes platonic) with another person, they will have a sort of connection to them. they will be able to sense if that person is in danger, and are especially in tune with their emotions. they are also able to locate them via an “emotional scent.”

    jasper was born in ohio to young amelia and conan. they met in the hospital; she was a nurse, and he had two broken legs. sparks flew and two years later they gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, peridot. four years went by and they lived happily together, and then amelia gave birth to jasper. their lives were rather normal, and jasper and peridot grew very close. it was when jaz turned nine that their lives changed forever.


    jasper was diagnosed with a benign tumor on his cochlear nerve. while the surgeons did end up removing the mass, they were unable to save the young boy’s hearing. jasper was deaf. it hit the family hard – they had just been a normal family, living in the suburbs of ohio. what had they done to deserve such a disaster as this? luckily, jazzy was a fast learner, and adapted to his new life rather well. things would never be the same, but they didn’t need to be.


    if jaz and perri had been close before, the tumor had just brought them even closer together. they were inseparable; they learned asl together, and generally spoke using only that. because jasper could still talk and had a tutor teaching him to read lips, his parents only learned minimal phrases.


    after graduating, jaz left ohio to explore the world. needless to say, he ended up in atticot and figured he’d stay for a while. that was two years ago.

    PERSONALITY. jamie is a passionate young man filled with potential. Before the war, he was imaginative and free spirited, always optimistic.     The plane ride home was the final stretch before the soldiers were able to see their loved ones again. It was no surprise that Jamie was itching to arrive home; it had been two very long years since he'd seen the love of his life. He knew that so much had to have changed in those years, but that wouldn't matter when he saw her beautiful face again.




    The ride wasn't so bad, except that it seemed to go on forever. nothing around them seemed to change; it was just clouds and sky and the tinyest hint of ground below. Eventually, the pilots voice could be heard, announcing that they were preparing to land.




    The airport was crouded, and there were several of his comrades - dressed in the same camouflage uniform - with the people they'd left behind. He scanned the room, eyes searching for her small frame and unforgettable eyes.
