(i go to a highly ranked school where the population is mostly asian-american. i myself am raised by a guyanese indian mother. my view on college/education is likely influenced by this)

1. secure, higher paying jobs (doctor, lawyer, etc) require higher education.
2. hm...not everyone will end up in college, like it or not.
3. Parents > high paying jobs > thirst for knowledge
