Thornstar looked worriedly among her clan. From her spot on the highrock, she winced about the news that was about to be told. "All cats under the highrock, and I will appoint the new deputy!" Tears welled up in the leaders eyes. It was sad that the old deputy, Pepperclaws, had died of greencough. Thornstar turned her gaze to her most trusted friend, and the next deputy, and wondered, is this the right choice? The cat she wanted to be deputy, and someday leader, was already the medicine cat. But she couldn't strip him from his position just because she wanted him to be deputy. If it wasn't for the brave tom, Thornstar, and many other cats would still have greencough. "All cats under the highrock, and I will appoint the new deputy!" She repeated, and held her head and tail high. She had to stay strong, for the sake of her clan.

Thornstar looked around. Tears flooded her eyes. "As you remember, greencough killed our dear deputy. So I have chosen a new one." She paused, took a deep breath, and mewed. "Eclipsemoon." She winced, and bowed her head, her eyes catching a glimpse of the spot where Pepperclaws used to sit, and she half expected to see him sitting in that spot, but she was not surprised he wasn't.
