Cloudpatch couldn't bare it. She tried to run back to camp, but she didn't have the energy-the shock of Stormstar's secret had drained it all- and she fell back down, landing awkwardly on her hind legs. She yelped in pain. "S-Stormstar..."

Suddenly, dread filled Cloudpatch as she realized she couldn't stand back up; her body was splain on top of her hindquarters and she still didn't have the energy to lift herself up. Pain was engulfing her. "S-Stormstar-lift-my-body-off-my-legs-NOW!" she screeched; she couldn't bear the pain much longer. Does she care for her apprentice so much more than me that she won't even notice? she thought painfully.
-
Suddenly, Cloudpatch managed to heave her body up. Standing up-she was a bit shaky at first-she muttered darkly to Stormstar, "Go and help your apprentice. She didn't even seem surprised when you revealed your kits; I wouldn't be surprised if there were other secrets you had told her and not to me."
-
Cloudpatch's gaze suddenly softened and she mewed, "I didn't mean it Stormstar. But you know why I said it." She swore like a kit, and she thought she noticed a glimmer of amusement in her leader's eyes. She nuzzled Stomstar's cheek.
-
Cloudpatch looked away. She didn't care for the apprentice's kits. "Ummm... I am going to go train Cloudpaw," she mewed disheartedly, her head hung and her tail drooping.
-
Cloudpatch began to limp away, wishing she could be reassured that Stormstar wasn't keeping any other secrets from her.
-
Cloudpatch turned toward Stormstar, hoping she would defend her against Purplepaw's nasty remark.
-
Is Stormstar going to do anything? Cloudpatch thought desperately and mentally painfully.
-
Cloudpatch threw her daughter a grateful look and then glared at Purplepaw.
-
Cloudpatch noticed Purplepaw's muscles tensing under her pelt, getting ready to leap onto Willowbark. "Don't you dare even think about attacking my daughter, or I'll show you..." Cloudpatch hissed. When she realized the apprentice had given up, she went back to camp to find Cloudpaw.
-
Cloudpatch heard all this and turned back a second time and snarled, "Keep your tongue to yourself; I wouldn't be surprised if your kits got your genes and grew up to be just as mangy furballs like you."
-
"And my daughter's heart may be damaged!" Cloudpatch snapped. "Can't you see that? You used to be so close to Willowbark, and ever since you find out this apprentice was expecting kits, you closed that door of friendship on her."
-
"Don't you remember what she did to me? If I had Moonblink with me right now, he would understand me!" Cloudpatch hissed.
-
"But we used to be so close Stormstar; now all of that has changed,"Cloudpatch mewed painfully.
-
Suddenly, it dawned on Cloudpatch; she had mentioned Moonblink-her youngest brother who she had told Cloudpaw had died. There was much more to the story than just that, and StarClan had made her swore she would never say anything, but her big mouth had opened anyway! "Ummm..." she began hesitantly. "N-no o-one at-at a-all."
-
"Ummm... Willowbark, the fresh-kill pile needs to be stocked. Do some hunting. And Stormstar, don't you have camp chores to look to?" Cloudpatch mewed desperately, anything to get the two she-cats to forgot the very secret topic she had just accidentally brought up on her long lost brother.
-
Cloudpatch nooded slightly and wondered what these "matters to be discussed" might be. She sighed and walked towards the roots of the knarled oak tree where Cloudpaw had been sleeping earlier. She nuzzled him and whispered gently, "Cloudpaw, how would you like some training?"
-
Following her into camp, Cloudpatch heard a moan coming from the apprentice's den, and walked in to find Purplepaw with her paws digging into head and stomach. "What's wrong?" she snorted, licking her paws.
-
Cloudpatch sighed and mewed, ""Then go see Cherryblossom." With that, she walked out of the den and wandered into Stormstar's den, mewing, "Stormstar, you... you wanted to talk to me?"
-
There were only two cats in all of BlazeClan that Cloudpatch hated more than her father-the cat who had left her mother and caused her newborn brother to die, and later on, her mother herself. "Well..." Cloudpatch begun hesitantly; she knew that even mentioning Purplepaw's name in a rude manner would spark up Stormstar. "There is Redleaf I completely despise... and you know that's because of Faithpaw. And... look Stormstar, I know you won't like this, but I absolutely hate Purplepaw. I know you will side with her either or, but... there is one particular reason I hate her so much, but you..." Cloudpatch wavered the sentence, and looked down at her paws, wondering if she tell her leader the real reason she despised Purplepaw so much.
