Shuddering with sadness, Crowkit pressed himself against Poppy's side. He was somewhat comforted by the she-cat's words, but he couldn't forget what he'd witnessed that day. He sighed. "Do you think she'd be happy where we are right now?" He fidgeted and glanced up while Shikekit looked at Poppy with big, expectant eyes. "Do you think she'd like it if we lived in.." He paused, looking for the right words. "In this Clan thing..?"

Shrikekit and Crowkit glanced to each other. Neither of them had ever felt the need to be concerned with where they were, and Laurelkit was safe and sound when they got here. Crowkit looked at Poppy and nodded his head.

Shrikekit agreed with Crowkit, his ears twitching. "They take good care of us, and they even said they'll teach us to hunt when we're a little older." He purred at the thought of being able to help his brother and sister.

Crowkit watched Poppy walk off before he was abruptly tackled by his brother. The two toms started tumbling and wrestling around again, as though nothing had happened and went back to playing their kit games.

"F-fine." Laurelkit stuttered, crouched with her paws tucked underneath her. She sniffled before continuing. "I just miss my momma." She pressed her ears against her skull and stared at the ground in front of her, wishing she could just curl up next to her mother again.

Content with Ghost's answer, Laurelkit purred and got to her paws. She batted his paw away from her head then gave his nose a quick lick before running over and jumping into the tangle of paws and tails that was her brothers.

Just as Laurelkit hops away, voices pass by Ghost's ears. There's one in particular that sounds familiar, perhaps the one that had spoken before, but no actual words can be made out. They drift away towards the forest in the direction of the river just as a sparrow feather drops from a tree above and lands softly in the middle of the camp.

Rowan was in the middle of congratulating Tigerpaw on his catch hen Ghost approached. He looked at the medicine cat, tipping his head to the side with confusion. "No, I didn't say anything." He blinked. "Except to Tigerpaw, I mean." He watched as Ghost looked just as confused as he did himself. Rowan then glanced towards his apprentice, wondering if the young cat had any idea what Ghost was talking about.

Rowan shook his head as he watched Ghost. "I'm not sure," he admitted, turning towards Tigerpaw. "Maybe he's been too close to his catmint or something."

Chatting with Boulderfur, Linnet noticed Ghost walk back into camp. Concerned, she excused her self and padded quickly over to him. "Are you alright?" She asked as her ears twitched and touched her tail to his shoulder.

Rowan nodded in agreement then flicked his tail "I'd better bring something back to." Tigerpaw's bird was a nice catch, but with both Poppy's kits and Leaf-fall on the way soon, he'd need to step up his game.

Feeling as though she was brushed aside by Ghost, Linnet sat down with a sigh. She curled her tail over her paws and watched the tom-cat walk to his den, still wondering if everything really was alright with him. She stayed for a moment before getting up and making her way back over to Boulderfur.

Rowan had just slipped out of the den, blinking sleep from his eyes. He looked to Ghost and took a moment to process his words, still trying to wake himself up. "I think I'm okay." He told Ghost after a moment or two. "It doesn't hurt so bad when I do this." Rowan dropped to a crouch in a long, awkward stretch. His hind end stretched up and his tail waving in the air. He looked up at Ghost as his paws moved further forward. "See?"

Rowan shot up straight into the air, startled as Tigerpaw grabbed his leg. Landing on his paws next to Ghost, he blinked a few times and started at the apprentice with round eyes, trying to collect himself. "Well, " he started, trying to think of something that would keep the young cat entertained."What if we use it as a stealth exercise?" He purred. "Let's see how long we can tail her without being caught, like stalking prey."

Rowan chuckled as he followed Tigerpaw out. He caught the look the apprentice gave his brother and Rowan tilted his head. He thought about asking Linnet and Mousepaw to join them, but he thought better of it afterwards; Linnet seemed like the strict type, but he knew that she did it to keep Mousepaw safe; he'd have all the training he needed to take care of himself.

Boulderfur was sunning himself under Tallrock, lazily grooming his paws when Ghost approached him. He blinked at the mention of StarClan and he sat up, ears twitching with interest. "Well, I don't know." He confessed. "The connection between a Clan's medicine cat and StarClan was never discussed, and only visions and signs were told to the Clan leader." The old tom then paused when it finally hit him. He leaned towards Ghost with eyes full of wonder. "Why; have you had a sign? A vision? Have StarClan spoken to you!?"

Looking disappointed, Boulderfur crouched back down with his paws tucked under himself. "Oh," he mewed while he held back a sigh. "It's quite alright." He ears drooped slightly as he watched Ghost pad off and he started to question if these band of cats really could become a Clan some day.

Rowan stayed quiet. As much as he loved messing with Fox, it'd be a cold day in Greenleaf before he'd let her accuse him of something like that again. "I don't know if that's such a good idea." He flicked his tail, thinking for a moment then he shook his head. "No, definitely not; I don't want her yelling at me again."

Rowan shrugged, the scent of blood wafting over to him as well and he scrunched up his nose. "I don't know." He mewed. "She's a mouse-brain." Though, inwardly, Rowan knew that it was because Fox didn't want to seem like she couldn't handle it out here. Perhaps that was his fault, telling her she couldn't make it as a Clan cat. He looked guilty for a moment then shook it off. "Maybe it really doesn't hurt her." He tilted his head. "It could get infected though, one time in-" He quickly stopped himself, realizing he was blurting out things he probably shouldn't be. "Nevermind." He mumbled, watching the she-cat trot back towards camp.

Rowan shook his head and trotted into camp. He didn't want to think about those things now, or ever again; they still sent chills down his spine. He looked on as Ghost treated Fox's wounds. Again. He wondered if the she-cat would ever listen to any of them. "Good tracking work, by the way." He put in, prodding Tigerpaw in the side.

Rowan stretched, feeling his back tighten up again. He sighed; he hoped this wasn't something that was going to become a regular thing. He padded over to the warriors den and stopped in his tracks, noticing the thrush. He started; wasn't this the thrush that Fox had brought home? Did she leave it for him? He didn't know, but he cast a sideways glance towards the she-cat as he picked up the bird and quickly dragged in inside, hoping to do so before she saw him.

Pale moonlight filtered through the now-opened ceiling, refracting off the multicolored crystals that lined the walls and floor of the cave. There was silence, nothing but the dripping of water into a pool. It echoed through the entirety of the crystallized cavern, but the source seemed to be coming from below. Then, just as before, the voices began to make themselves heard. Again they were indiscernible and no words could be made out, but the murmurs tugged Ghost's feet forward; pulling him closer as the ground began to slope downwards.

They continued to echo throughout the cavern, leading the tom down further and further; taking him around twists and turns until it was impossible to tell which way he had come from. It was much darker now, the only light coming from bio-luminescent mushrooms that dotted the cave walls and parts of the ceiling.

Further still, what surely must be the center of the world by now, the voices stopped. Only now the sound of dripping was heard, louder than it had been in the rest of the cavern. Then a new source of light appeared, something very unlike the crystals and the mushrooms. A shape appeared further down the tunnel; it was definitely cat-like, but it was translucent, able to see the wall beyond it. It carried two, bright green eyes that looked as though they could've been made of the gemstones from the cave. They burned into Ghost's pelt, willing him forward then they seemingly disappears as quickly as they had appeared. With the figure gone it had revealed a small tunnel, one that the medicine cat would surely have to squeeze through if he decided to carry on even further.

The sound of the dripping was even louder as the tunnel opened up to reveal the source; a massive cavern with a huge crystal that jutted up from the center. Water droplets fell from the ceiling and onto the large stone in the middle, trailing down it's oddly jagged form before finally landing in a pool that surrounded it like a moat. The form appeared again, green eyes blazing as it stood near the pool. It seemed to be oblivious to Ghost now and leaned down, as though to take drink from the icy water. Then, just as before, it disappeared as quickly as it had come.

Plush grass spreads under Ghost's paws and goes on as far the eye can see. In the distance, moors roll on for miles. A warm Newleaf breeze blew through the tom's fur and buffeted the trees nearby, sending small leaves falling gently falling to the ground. A cat slid out from behind the trees, seemingly forming from the shadows of the woods. A she-cat, pelt as black as pitch, began padding towards Ghost, leaving visible paw-prints that looked as though they were made of stars. They covered her lithe frame as well and it was almost like looking into the night sky itself.

"You've finally made it." Her voice sounded like velvet as she spoke, taking a seat in front of Ghost. Her eyes were the same emerald color as the ghostly figure that appeared in the cavern, but one was marked by a long scar across it. They burned into the tom's pelt once again, but there was a warmness to them this time. "We've been waiting for you." She meowed as she rested her long tail over her paws.

Amusement flashed in the she-cat's eyes and she chuckled. "I realize this all must be so strange to a cat that isn't Clanborn." She flicked her tail as she listened to Ghost blurt out all these questions at once. "One thing at a time," she soothed, trying to calm him. "This is StarClan's hunting grounds and you can call me Nightpool."
