"Oh something stylish and sleek, preferably a metallic black." he said, pulling out a slip of cardboard shaped a bit like an iPhone 5. Someone had taken a Sharpie and drawn the button and screen outline, but with the fox's confident grin, the way he flourished the cardboard, it was almost believable.

Patting her on the back, the man said with pride, "Thatta girl! Now, I'll send for the dress to be ready, in the meantime, come with me." He stepped toward the door, unlocking it. As he opened it, he also slid the clothes she had behind the door. He had taken a liking to having her like that; she couldn't really leave the mansion, nor was it bad on the eyes.
-
Mr. Thorn stepped out and lead Gwen down the hall to a door off to a large room. A middle aged female Neko, older than Thorn, and a young kid, likely her son by the look of his face. Both had cream colored cat ears and tails, and wore simple black clothing.
"Gwen, I would like you meet your caretaker, Tabitha, and her son Luke. They're family has gone back as long as the Thorns' have." the business man said, smiling at his family's history. Luke smiled innocently, but Tabitha scowled with the troubles of many years.
Luke reached out his hand to shake. "Hi, what's your name?" he asked the nervous girl, oblivious to her, or likely any, hardships.
-
Tiberius smiled and slid the cardboard back into his pocket. "Tell me ma'am," he said, strutting like a true gentleman, "Has anyone ever told you that you have gorgeous eyes?" He may have only been a man of status and class in his mind, but that didn't stop him from acting like one.
-
Turning to leave, Mr. Thorn added, "And Tabitha, treat her like she's a daughter of James Thorn the First." The older woman nodded, looking to Gwen and her child when he was gone.
"Gwen eh? Well, I'm guessin' youse awantin' some sheerts an' trousas an' what not." Tabitha spoke, her voice barely legible between the accent and slur in her jaw. Her boy ran up to her and she lifted him up into her strong arms with a sigh.
-
Tabitha grabbed a large shirt and a pair of sweatpants from out of a laundry basket. "Now youse gonna needa collar." She reached into her pocket and pulled out a black leather ring. Holding look in one hand she lunged forward and slapped the collar around Gwen's neck. The leather stung, the metal ends connecting and snapping together quickly.
-
Again pulling out his "phone" he said, "I was told by one of my peers that I would do well to have a phone case. Added protection with a bit of personal styling, it's simply a good investment." He did not snicker as of this was some prank, he was serious about this.
-
Adjusting his cap and clearing his throat. He looked ahead as if under some trance, his eyes rolled back and his voice echoed, "In days of past, a sat like night, I was taken for my light, my fires fueled all of greed's might, and send iron and flesh to the fight." The fox returned to normal and looked expectantly to his new friend.
-
Taking the first one, Tiberius gave it a look and held the cardboard up to it. "This one." he said with confidence. "How much?"
-
"T'make sure you don't run." Tabitha said, surprised. "Now that yer of age, not like Luke and me. Too young and too old to last long on our own." Her voice was weak and sad, tired from years of cooking, cleaning, and bearing young for the Thorn family.
-
"So how about you kit, what's your story?" she said, taking a seat in a big wooden chair. Luke slipped out from her grip and ran off to go be a kid, innocent and unaware of the horrors his kind faced.
-
Tabitha nodded, saying, "Well no story's too long for me." She was older than most Nekos, most of them dying at half her age. After that they simply loosed their youth, their sex appeal, and therefore their value to humans.

Pulling out a checkbook, nearly empty, the fox shook his head. "No, well- maybe. Tell me, have you ever eaten at Le Noeud du Renard?" he asked, cocking an eyebrow to her as he casually filled out the check.
-
Not content with an answer like that, Tiberius said, "Oh money is not an issue my dear, if I can afford a ten-thousand pound (£) phone from British Somoa, I can afford to take anyone to Le Noeud du Renard." He patted his pocket, as if something thick and full of currency was in there. "When do you get off for lunch?"
-
Tabitha nodded, her eyes showing some sympathy. "My, uh, my momma was Mr. Thorn's grand-daddy's mistress. He- he had her killed when she fell for some other rich feller. She had me n' Mr. Thorn's daddy, but nobody else."
-
The Neko smiled though, looking up to Gwen. "But you're lucky. Tim ain't gonna use you, you get to be his trophy. Now I gotta teach you edikit, so let's head on inta the kitchen." she said, rising from her chair. Her ivory colored tail waved as when she was young.
-
The fox smiled, saying, "I will go and prepare our reservations. Arrive whenever you like, however you like, and ask for Tiberius Ascalon. Jen will show you to the room."
-
The fox sat down and scratched behind his ear, his big cap shaking as his black paw relieved his itch. "Maybe. I guess that sounds right." he shrugged, still unsure. "By the way, where excactly are we?"
-
A small table was set up in the kitchen, surely not the forest manor's main. A spot at the table was prepared with a plate, forks, knives, spoons, and a few other tools. An older male Neko, younger than Mr. Thorn, stood nearby dressed on a black suit and bow tie. "Ready?" Tabitha asked.
-
The older male nodded, taking the chair and pulling it out. Tabitha motioned for Gwen to take the seat, turning to the cherry cabinet and opening it to several large unwieldy bottle.
