Pikescar followed him, legs shaking.
Was Oakpath going to harm him?
He sure hoped not.

Crystalstar smiled at Oakpath. She knew he was testing the new warrior; she knew he wouldn't be like that, unless it was for a good reason.

Fallenwillow stopped in her tracks. "You...You were part of a clan?" She stammered.

Fallenkit heard the harsh exchange of words between her parents. She flattened her ears and began to sob. She knew her father wouldn't be returning.

"Why were you kicked out?" She whispered, fighting back memories of her old Clan...

Pikescar yelped and ran off, tail bushed out. His eyes were wide with terror.

Fallenwillow nodded, and said nothing further. She finished with the nests and curled up in her own.

"What a psychopath!!" He mumbled to himself. He scented the air, but he tasted nothing.

Fallenwillow sighed and stared at the wall, keeping watch. She had to protect her new kit. She was determined.

Pikescar bolted back to camp, shooting into the warriors' den.

Crystalstar shook her head. She needed warriors that had nerve.

Fallenwillow nodded. "Yes, yes you are." She mumbled.

Fallenkit quivered and cried, shaking her head. She curled up next to Wolfkit, burying her face into her fur.

"I've noticed." She murmured, staring at the den.

Pikescar was watching the entrance, eyes wide.

"You aren't yet."

"When you are ready, my sweet." She purred.

Crystalstar sighed. "Let him recover first. I'm sure he'll shake at the mere sight of you."

Fallenwillow jumped at the snarl. She said nothing, though she was scared of his mood shift.

Crystalstar gazed after him with distant blue eyes.

Fallenwillow jumped again, curling up in a tight ball. She squeezed her eyes shut, wrapping her tail around herself and resting the tip on her pink nose.

Fallenkit didn't look up at Sunfish.

Fallenwillow asked herself, What have I gotten myself into?..
