With an amused twitch of the whiskers, Cloudynose dipped his head as he slipped off to the exit, nose already in the air to scent for prey. It felt nearly too hot for any reasonable creature to be wandering about, but he supposed that so long as it benefit the clan, he shouldn't be too condescending. If Starclan offered nourishment even in these temperatures, it was something to be gracious for. Keeping Littlefeather's words in mind, he slunk off deeper into the territory.

Cloudynose followed a dying scent trail to the bank of the lake, minding his paws as he crept along the muddied ground. At the sound of a soft rustle, his tail stiffened midwave. On quiet steps he quickly flattened himself to the damp grasses along the water, wincing at the slip of mud along his stomach. It all paid off, however, when a water vole came scurrying from the brush. With one quick paw, he hooked a claw into its pelt, springing forward to deliver a finishing bite to its tiny spine.
The thrill of victory was short lived, when the taste of blood on Cloudynose's tongue gave way to the uncomfortable dripping of mire from his fur. That, and the heat bearing down on him, led to his retreat back into the trees, carrying his catch alongside him as he already dread his inevitable fate cleaning the muck from his pelt.
-
After a good span of time spent scouring the woods for active prey, Cloudynose reluctantly decided to cut his losses and at least contribute one meager vole to the pile. With heavy paws- both from disappointment and the burden of the heat- he head back to camp. That is, until an eruption of motion exploded from his path..! Vole now lost to memory, the warrior dashed after the direction the squirrel had gone with a stuttering gasp, leaving his previous catch to wait for his return.
It wasn't foolish- The little animal had only skipped a tree or two before it made a sharp turn for the safety of an oak trunk. The fluffy tail had almost slipped, out of reach, into the shelter of leaves above it as Cloudynose lurched for the bark. With an uncanny amount of luck, he'd caught a twitching hind leg within his jaws. Hardly believing himself, it took a moment for him to drag it downwards, only brought back into the reality of the moment by the squirrel's sharp squeal. Tail lashing excitedly, he pulled his target from its escape route, granting it the mercy of a quick death. Eyes aglow with appreciation, he head back to fetch his vole. Yes, the prey was certainly running indeed. Though, he'd have to be more careful not to stumble over such a catch next time. Starclan's blessings only ran so deep.
-
Having retrieved his squirrel and vole, Cloudynose padded back to camp with his jaws aching under the strain of carrying both. He hardly even minded the mud, which had quickly dried into a flaky crust over him. He had hunted well, and that alone was enough to put him in a brighter mood. It was a short trek back, and he made a beeline for the kill pile when he returned, carefully laying out his prey before stepping back to start on grooming himself.

WCTOD
Initial Bio (outdated!!)

Description: Ruby a very small, black Bombay. Her fur is as short as she is, accentuating her structure in an Oriental-esque way. This is further seen in her particularly large ears. While she is a solid black, she does have some slight shading around the ears and tail, and a pink nose. Her eyes are an opaque yellow-gold. By most cats, she is regarded as quite cute.
Gender: Female
Orientation: Demisexual
Family: Ruby is separated from an abusive father and missing mother, and her only acknowledged relative is her twin brother, Night. As of currently, she has also adopted one daughter (Devil) in the care of herself and her mate, Shade.
Age: Young adult
Rank: Host
History: Ruby is the descendant of the great queen of spirits, Lavenda. As such, she carries the ability to perceive, communicate with, and attract all lesser spirits. This ability has aided her lineage in their inherited lifestyles as religious figures, prophets, etc... And can only be found in females of her ancestry. Due to the absence of her mother in her early life, however, Ruby has no immediate obligation towards this responsibility, and has ultimately rejected it. After coming of age to leave a broken family, her and Night left to found the WCTOD studios, where they have since lived out a career in entertainment.
Notable relations:
Night- With a deadbeat father being their only guardian, Ruby and Night essentially raised each other. Though she takes pleasure in teasing him, Ruby views Night as one of the most important cats in her life, being her true protector and provider in her youth. She uses her show now to attempt to give him a comfortable lifestyle, to pay him back for all she feels he's done for her. Though Ruby adores her mate, her and Night know each other more intimately than anyone ever will.
WCTOD cast- Because she lacked a stable family growing up, Ruby views the cats around her now as her real family. She would do anything to keep them safe and cared for, even if some of them tend to grind on her nerves. While she is their boss and leader, she views them as much more than employers, which is cause for how she has no qualms establishing living quarters for them within her studio. She'll never say so, but she loves them all.
Thistlepaw- Though WCTOD is not a clan, Ruby treated Thistlepaw like an apprentice due to their similar temperment, and intended for her to inherit the studio after her retirement. Unfortunately, the young cat set off to greener pastures before much could be established.
Mate:
Scorch,ShadePersonality: Ruby has a sharp, fiery personality that gets her what she wants, when she wants it. She is crass, loud, shameless, unapologetic, and all around aggressive. Despite all this, however, she has an odd sort of charisma that gives her a natural ability to lead. She isn't particularly intelligent, but what she does know is people. Reading the mood, controlling conversation, navigating conflict... Where she lacks academic experience, she has an excellent read on those around her. Her no-nonsense attitude ensures her position will never be crossed, and calms all waters. After all, to fight among each other is one thing, but to risk Ruby's anger is an entirely separate matter. Though she's greatly reduced her temper, she is still prone to lashing out at her environment if not another cat, and her words have twice the bite. She has a complex about maintaining control, and if she ever feels like she's lost it, then there's no telling the explosion that'll be triggered. Her blindness to emotion, however, does not block her ability to handle business- Above all else, Ruby works on television, and she can somehow find the means to hold her tongue if she can use it instead to gain better contracts, deals, and connections.
Despite all her negative qualities, Ruby is also incredibly humorous and caring, though she refrains from consciously showing it. Her affection for those who've proven their loyalty to her is great, and she is very protective over them; More so than she is herself, which is saying something. She's serious about running her studio and her blood runs hot, but what's more important to her is keeping relations among her cast mates relaxed. Their well-being is always on her mind, and they will always come first to even a potentially prosperous business arrangement. Among friends, her intensity redirects itself to having fun and conveying her affections through well-meaning jabs and blunt commentary. Because she's easily bored, any time spent with her is sure to be an exciting period.
It is worth noting that most of Ruby's aggression stems from coping with her home situation, and her violent outbursts fade in time with her growing support system and integration into a normalized life and family. She is constantly working to better herself against the image her father left in her mind, even if it's difficult at times. It's all about recovery from that ingrained sense of paranoia.
Likes: Shade, cute things(though she will never admit it), exercise, conspiracies, show business, and MONEY
Dislikes: Cheesy displays of affection, toxic people, ridicule, and not having a say

Initial Bio (outdated!!)

Description: Night is Ruby's twin brother, identical to her in every way, from nose to tail tip. Like her, he is a solid black, with an Oriental sort of ear structure. Also like her, he remains just as small and slim, which is something he remains somewhat insecure about. Even down to the shading of his ears and the yellow of his eyes, he is a copy of his sibling. The only notable difference between the two is a slight change in irises over time; While Ruby's eyes have remained that solid yellow, Night's have begun to take on slight hints of green, though they only catch in direct light.
Gender: Trans-male
Orientation: Asexual/Aromantic
Family: Night's only acknowledged family is his sister, Ruby.
Age: Young adult
Rank: WriterHistory: Night comes from the same spiritual lineage as Ruby, but lacks the ability she does to fully perceive spirits. Why this is, is unknown. He still emits the same sort of aura that attracts them, but to a lesser extent. As such, he has thought very little of their family's heritage. From his youth to his present, his life has been about his sister. His childhood barely existed, as he made it his role to stand up to his father and rear his sibling the way a kid should grow up. Night's unstable youth led to his disillusionment with the world around him, which he took out on others with physical violence. His disconnection with his reality only worsened as a result of his obsession with his guardianship over Ruby, barring him from pursuing personal interests or interpersonal relationships outside of her for fear that he would leave her vulnerable to one thing or another. As such, he hasn't known what to do with himself since they've left home.
Notable relations:
Ruby- Night's sense of obligation towards Ruby has made him reliant on her for a purpose. Without his job to watch over her, he's been socially and emotionally stunted. He loves his sister dearly, and only really trusts her in this world he can't seem to make sense of. To him, she is an inspiration. As such, forging an independent path for himself is proving difficult, though he's glad he has her to report these feelings to even now.
Claire- Outside of Ruby, Claire is the only cat who Night has ever truly seen. She has a sort of quiet patience that allows him to feel comfortable in her presence, and lots of time spent in silence together have allowed him to see her as a dear partner. In their past incarnations, the two were romantically entangled. While Night lacks the ability to love as other cats do, he still feels a bond to Claire. She's an odd sort of soulmate, who he'd be happy to spend his life with and be mistaken as a couple with. A platonic life partner to hang out with forever. Yeah... That sounds nice.
Alena- Ever since the orphans have come to the studio, Alena has had a natural curiosity about Night. Though she's withdrawn for entirely different reasons, she feels a sort of kinship to Night's own nature. As such, she's taken to following him around. Over a month or so, he's taken to returning her observation, and inexplicably tends to take responsibility for her. They don't talk very much, but he notices when she does well and approaches her on his own to sit nearby when she's upset. Their relationship has progressed almost to a familial one, with him listed as her emergency contact and her being one of the few he will speak to, even if the conversations are brief.
Mate: Claire..?
Personality: If Ruby runs hot, Night runs cold. His childhood was made up of patient rage, built up by the way he threw away his independence in hopes of making a home for his sister. Though he has a calmer external disposition, his fire is very much internal. It's a frosty sort of anger that's almost scarier than Ruby's rash, loud one. When he's really pushed to the edge, one stony stare is the final warning you have before he resorts to a sudden show of aggression. His ability to intimidate exceeds his sister's ability to evoke fear and panic, though he's rarely used it past his father. His temper aside, Night's personality is something of a mystery even to himself. Due to his detachment from reality, he's never had the chance to find out what he really likes, and because of this he lacks drive or interest in much of anything. He acts on the orders of his sister and basic needs, but otherwise spends most of his time drifting about in his own head or observing the world around him that he still can't seem to familiarize himself with. It's an empty sort of depression, made up of disassociation now that he's lost the only purpose he's ever known. Lately, he's been seeking out knowledge and developing a form of curiosity now that he has the time to begin to learn about the universe through books and online resources. Alongside the company of Claire, he's becoming less a shell of a cat, and more of just a quiet one.
Even without the effects of his youth, Night is a reserved type of cat. His words are few and fleeting, and rarely carry much weight to them. With the right kind of cat, he could likely open his thoughts, but it is in his character to keep his feelings and opinions locked tightly into his head. This is reflected in the often flat delivery of his voice and expression. He's just naturally distant, and prefers to go about things quietly and efficiently, socializing only where it is due.

Description: A relatively tall (but not bulky), short furred cat of light grey coloring. He has long legs, built for speed and elegant movement, alongside a streamlined body and a thin, snaking tail. He has paler fur centered in a diamond pattern atop his forehead, a lighter tail tip, and a lighter back right paw. Alongside these markings, he has traced lines of white running down from his eyes, seemingly made up of dried, unwashable paint. His eyes are a notable sky blue, bright and pale alongside the rest of him. Kurai wears a makeshift cloak of black silk, a purple amulet around his neck, and a golden cuff studded with diamond around his left leg. On top of all this, he also has a single golden ring piercing in his ear.
(His amulet acts as a conductor of energy with which to successfully pull from Kolificus' magic due to the limitations of the mortal body; The cuff was formed by Kolificus over time, and acts as an enchantment to keep himself bound to Kurai; The paint was a powder established by Kolificus to attempt to give Kurai sight, but unfortunately, it failed, leaving only a permanent mark on his fur through its enchanted ingredients)
Gender: Male
Orientation: Heterosexual
Family: No known parents, having been separated from his family upon his birth. Though his fellow triplets, Mistine and Kamdu, are both present in his life now, he cannot see them as anything but strangers due to having only just met them.
Age: Senior adolescent
Rank: AssistantHistory: Kurai was one of three cats born into the world with a deity inhabiting their bodies. The reason for this is unknown to him. Born into a social structure, his role as a vessel was uncovered by local holy cats who thus ordered the extermination of his bloodline out of fear for an age where gods walked among mortals. The team in charge of this, however, feared the spiritual consequences of infanticide, and simply had them divided up and scattered across the globe via trafficking lines, shafting them off to the rest of the world. Kurai landed in the Middle East, where he was blinded in an accident long forgotten. This helplessness triggered the full possession of his deity- Kolificus- over him in order to deliver their body out of danger. For most of his kithood, Kurai was remotely controlled by this spirit for the sake of survival, and was led to be placed under the apprenticeship of a conman who sold cats imaginative goods of 'dark magic'. Kurai stayed here throughout his childhood, learning the work of a merchant in exchange for a place to live and eat. Throughout this time, he was exposes to full possession more often than not, causing him to black out while Kolificus would work his abilities or simply put their body to use. As Kurai grew up and trustingly obeyed the voice within him, Kolificus would ease up on these take-overs and stick to control over motor functions instead as a means of easing the boring repetition of mortal life through conversation with his vessel.
In his late adolescence, something set Kolificus off, forcing Kurai to smother his mentor and make off to the west with a newly completed cuff and a stolen amulet. Without any explanation, the tom wound up at WCTOD studios, where he would regularly black out or cooperate with Kolificus to search for something unnamed under the premise of seeking employment. Upon a chance encounter with another deity- Celestia- Kurai was forcibly exorcised of Kolificus, and was left to figure out the world on his own. It's hard to live independently when you've lived a life of frequent blackouts and rarely granted control over yourself, but after hooking up with his boss' daughter, Devil, he seems to be getting better at it.
Notable relations:
Kolificus- A life spent with someone leads to a certain reliance on them, and there is no exception here. Kurai is well adjusted to going through his years more unconscious than not, his body little more than a puppet for his long-term companion. He learned submission quick. When Kolificus left their body, Kurai couldn't really conceive a world where he's awake all the time, much less one where he has to take care of himself. He still tends to lean heavily on the other, despite the toxic tones of their dynamic, and visibly flounders without the spirit handling his decisions and actions. Similarly, Kolificus was his only 'friend' up until their departure from the east, and Kurai is reluctant to place faith in anyone else despite the possessive, toxic way in which Koli has always treated him. To Kurai, such a relationship is all he's ever known. It's normal.
Mate: Devil
Personality: Due to his lack of control throughout 90% of his life, Kurai is an incredibly passive cat, made more so by the blindness he was never given time to grow up with and adapt to. As such, he has a very loose sense of self care, and knows very little of independence. This is enhanced by the isolation he faced during his black-outs and significant deprivation of interaction among anyone outside of his head, giving him a flat voice and attitude to match. Kurai is clueless in a world he's never known by himself, and tends to keep to himself in a general state of constant confusion as a result. In addition, though he knows no assertiveness towards Kolificus, he is not necessarily submissive in the face of others, and doesn't seem to realize that violence isn't an appropriate response to things he can't grasp.
Having met Devil, Kurai has grown more into an individual, content with a simple and peaceful lifestyle in which he devotes himself to understanding his new reality. He's hesitantly optimistic nowadays in the face of conflict, and- though tense and wary in the company of strangers- embraces the studio's cast as his new normal. Even still, too much to process at once can cause the cat to freeze up or revert back to overwhelmed panic, meaning that others are expected to treat him carefully and give him time to truly 'get' something if they want to have a successful encounter with him.

Dislikes: Chaotic environments, being alone, decisions

Initial Bio (outdated!!)

Description: A stout, thick-furred black tom with white patchwork. Most notably is the white mark over his left eye; the white on his chest fur and tail tip; a white right paw; and the saddle mark over his back. He has heterochromia that align with his half-sister's, giving him one blue eye and one yellow. He carries hints of gold in his blue eye and throughout his design as an indicator of his fantastical nature of a cat carrying supernatural abilities. Around his neck, he is adorn with a gold and silver yin yang necklace.
Gender: Male
Orientation: Homosexual
Family: Ruby is separated from an abusive father and missing mother, and her only acknowledged relative is her twin brother, Night. As of currently, she has also adopted one daughter (Devil) in the care of herself and her mate, Shade.
Age: A kid entering his young adolescent years
Rank: Apprentice assistant
History: Orran was born to a wild she-cat who happened to have a fling with a passing tom of mystical nature. His birth killed his mother, but due to the supernatural existence of his father, he inherited a natural ability to communicate with shadow creatures of the spiritual realm. His birth attracted quite a few of these creatures, who worked to rear him. When he was of age to begin to care for himself, it wasn't long before he decided to seek out his father and find answers to the workings of his powers. Along his investigation, he met with his half-sibling, Alena. The two clashed greatly, with Orran's ego regarding his powers making him unable to comprehend Alena's fear of hers. He viewed her as frail and weak, unlike himself who had been trained by his shadows, but their interest in their lineage aligned so that they became reluctant allies. Over time, Orran began to grow fond of another cat's company, sensing a familial bond with Alena that he had never experienced before. He even began to assist her with her own powers- Until the two caught wind of WCTOD. Hoping that televised publicity would enhance their chances of finding their father, they set out to the studio.
Upon reaching WCTOD, Orran and Alena ran their broadcast, but were not allowed to leave once Ruby and Night discovered they had been living on their own. Alena's acceptance of the cast as a means of shelter enraged Orran, whose desire to find their father had been boosted once more with the new hope the broadcast had given him. It was an obsession. Due to his attachment to his sister, he couldn't bring himself to leave, which only made him angrier. Eventually, he blamed her for ever having caused him these doubts in the first place, and broke off their relationship. Still, he remained under the studio's care, convinced/intimidated into staying by Ruby. His inability to satisfy his cravings for the mystery of his ancestry led to him expressing that obsession through a newfound fixation on his power. With some unfortunate grooming from Kurai under the possession of the trickster spirit Kolificus, he grew more attracted to the potential he had, and his ego only grew as he took up mentorship beneath the tom. After Kolificus' exorcism, the two continued to train until the deity viewed him as too much of a handful with his attitude. Despite this, the damage had been done, and Orran's arrogance had created quite a horrible cat the be around. The only blessing was that his time with Kolificus had not been extended, and had occurred when he was at a harmless age. His personality had taken a nosedive, but at heart, he had not grown corrupted enough to hurt others with his powers past some fits when he was still under the spirit's influence.
Nowadays, Orran bides his time in the studios, spurning Alena more than ever out of some sort of need for a scapegoat over any rational motivation. He still practices his powers, but has grown comfortable at WCTOD as a home, and has even matured past his initial power high to befriend some of the cast, such as Devil. Though his television appearance did little to help find his father, it did draw attention to him, and he takes advantage of that initial appearance to spread his fame throughout media in order to fill the gaps in his life with money, validation, and the distant affections of the masses.
Notable relations:
Alena- Despite their shared kithood together, Orran was quick to cut Alena out of his life due to his sense of self entitlement. If she could not behave as he wanted, he would not tolerate her. While Alena mourned this estrangement, Orran took it very lightly, returning to the state of independence he had had before meeting her. This only wounded her further, and her efforts to mend their relationship were met with scorn and ridicule. In the period of his early life at the studio, before he stabilized to a mild pest, he actively began to target her for mockery and bullying, physical and verbal alike. Nowadays, he has grown bored of her and has a distaste for the way others come to defend her, minimizing his teasing to only that which occurs on convenience and the occasional elementary harassment (in terms of physical harm). Still, he is a horrible, toxic cat to her, and hardly seems to regret it. Nor does he see the damage his treatment has done to her.
Kolificus- Kolificus and Orran had not met directly until his exorcism, and Orran never confused the spirit with his host afterwards. He was intrigued with this tom who had even more power than he did, being a deity, and was eager to train under him. Upon seeing his physical form, his interest in Kolificus may have spiked for an entirely different reason, awakening a part of himself that he'd rather not confront. His combination of bratty demanding, whining, and fawning quickly grew irritating to his mentor, and Kolificus abandoned him without so much as a second glance. Though Orran acts as if their interactions had never occurred now, he still visibly tracks Kolificus whenever the other enters the same room, and is prone to orbiting towards him in crowds. He would never admit it, but he craves that cat's attention, and secretly works to try and earn it again from time to time. These feelings have made him particularly hostile towards those Kolificus does choose for company- Ember and Kurai.
Ruby- Despite his obedience towards his employer/
guardian..?Orran despises Ruby the most out of all cats in the studio. He avoids her like the plague due to his fear of her anger, but also because she had been the one to force him to stay at the studio instead of pursue his father. Now that it's been years, he considers WCTOD his home, but he can never forgive Ruby for trapping him there initially. It's not the outcome that matters to him, but the premise of the whole thing, even if it's okay now. He will vocalize all protests to being near her at any point in time, and is prone to insulting her the most out of any cat, even Alena. His hostility runs deep and clearly, though he tends to avoid any direct fights with her. Still, his resentment is always brewing.Mate: A new she-cat a week
Personality: Because Orran was raised under the constant praise of his potential, and typically equated to the greatness of his power, it was inevitable he would become a brat. He never grew out of the ego his shadows stroked, and he believes himself to be on a higher level than other cats. Fated for power, fame, and splendor, so to speak. As such, Orran is incredibly shallow and material, relying on unsubstantial things to compensate for the lack of meaningful relationships and events in his life. The smug face he shows to the public is far from false, but he does amplify it to conceal the rottenness behind it. Yes, he is smug, but he can use confidence as a charm to attract the attention he craves. Despite his thirst for validation, he is oddly shameless, and is not afraid to be rude, flaunt his ego, and speak cruelly to others. The only thing he works to suppress are any embarrassing instances that could be used against his 'reputation'.
Orran has little care for anyone but himself and the select few within the studio that he has lived long enough with to develop a sort of concern for. He likes to use people, and he especially likes to crush their esteem or hope. He waves about his fanciful lifestyle and breaks down those around him, though he mostly takes this toxicity out on Alena specifically, or packs it into comments that he will be berated for within the studio. Lately, he has grown less poisonous, but that inner need to feel dominant continues to cause him to behave poorly. When he isn't causing a scene to get eyes on him (not caring whether the attention is good or bad) he is pushing others down.
As he grows older, Orran has begun to understand loneliness, causing him to limit himself to a loud and childish annoyance, but not a particularly harmful one. As such, nobody really likes to be around him and throw around his company as either a joke or being unwanted. Even still, neediness has made him more open to offers of friendship, though he still behaves snobbishly either way. That aside, his friendship with Devil and her inclusion of him into outings has caused him to dial down his behaviors that tie in to his attention complex. While at his worst, he is the same cat he was when he first arrived, he has essentially reverted back to the bratty but barely tolerable kitten he once was: Snappish, crude, entitled, arrogant, and brash... But still ultimately just childish, and appeased through devoted tolerance. Sort of like that friend you never really want to bring along anywhere, but who you have accepted you're stuck with, and can cooperate with under that circumstance even if they make it exceedingly difficult.
Likes: Flirting, wealth, social media, shopping, cameras, attention, music, fights he can win, and validation
Dislikes: Attempts at emotional intimacy, when things don't go his way, contradiction with his opinions/interests, teasing, femininity (in regards to himself), crying in public, guilt, sudden personal awareness of his insecurities, confronting flaws, seeing healthy relationships/PDA, being ignored

Initial bio (outdated!!)

Description: Rubyheart a petite black Oriental with a lithe build; The biggest things about her are her wide-set ears. With a short pelt that fits to her build, she is structured for speed over force, but her small paws and thin limbs allow her to snake through combat as compensation. She has no distinct marks, entirely solid aside from the slightest of darkening towards her ear and tail tips that hint at a Siamese heritage. Her eyes are a pale yellow, described as gold if one is waxing poetic. She has a scar that runs over her left eye from a scratch that just barely blinded her, but the slight skim across the lens of that eye has left her sight partially weakened on that side.
Gender: Female
Orientation: Straight
Family: Rubyheart has no parents, having murdered her father (Broken) for his abuse of their family, and her mother (Shine) having drowned due to falling into a river without the use of her paralyzed back legs. Her brother, Demon, was estranged from her for years until making his way to the clan to try and have her look after said mother, but to no avail. Of minor relevance, she has an aunt named Hallow, and birthed two late kits (Nightkit and Ashpaw).
Age: Adult
Rank: Deputy
History: Rubyheart was reared a loner, and one day left her family after killing her abusive father upon discovering his plot to murder them. This led to her brother's disdain for her, and convinced her that she had nothing left at her birthplace. Before Duskstar took her into Duskclan, she had a brief fling with a loner named Wolf, who impregnated her before promptly taking off. She gave birth to Nightkit and Ashkit, the former whom was eaten by a fox after she left the den to hunt for them. Fear of the dangers of living on her own drove her to join Duskclan, which she made her home. She apprenticed Dustyriver (Dustypaw, at the time) and kept Ashkit a secret on clan territory; When he was discovered, her apprentice refused to acknowledge her until after her promotion to warrior, which made Rubyheart bitter and overprotective of her kit's admission into the clan. Though Duskstar loved the kitten, Rubyheart could not see past Dustyriver's disdain, and made plans to kill her with Waterface, a passing rogue and Dustyriver's father. Ultimately, she could not carry out the deed, which earned Ashkit's scorn, but won Dustyriver back over as a dear ally.
When Demon came to the clan with Shine, their mother, Rubyheart faced confrontation for the murder of her father. During this fight with Demon, Shine drowned in the river she had been left by. With no ties left, Demon also passed into the clan alongside her. Rubyheart became less prominent from then on out, serving out a quiet life watching Ashkit become an apprentice and recovering from all her trials by heartily engaging in clan life with every member. After Ashpaw's death, Rubyheart took it upon herself to watch over Dewfeather's many, many kittens, and took a particular liking to Hollykit (though she was denied the kit's apprenticeship). She survived the attack of the Lucid Lights and fought fiercely for Duskclan, justifying her status as a respected senior warrior having been there from the very start of the clan's founding. As such, the third leader Thistlestar named her his deputy, the fourth in Duskclan history.
Notable relations:
Duskstar- Rubyheart adored Duskstar and respected her the most of the clan's three leaders. She almost viewed her as a maternal figure, due to the way the she-cat looked out for her and would always patiently wait to listen to anything troubling. Even Ashkit couldn't throw off Duskstar, and Rubyheart was fiercely devoted to her in life, even visiting the nursery regularly to see her kits.
Hollypaw- Out of all her grandkits, Rubyheart adored Hollypaw the most, perhaps due to the way the little thing followed her around when she was still in the nursery. Both desperately wanted a mentor/apprentice relationship, and were disappointed when Moonstar picked Maplefur. Even still, Rubyheart tried to model her behavior towards Hollypaw after Duskstar's, and the two grew close as the few left behind from all of Ashpaw's mess.
Mate:
WolfPersonality: Since kithood, Rubyheart was always incredibly paranoid, and this carried on into clan life. It would be an understatement to say she had communication issues, and the aggression of her father was reflected clearly in her. Luckily, Duskclan filed her down into a cat that instead used this energy and passion for the betterment of her clanmates, always being the first one out to patrol and the last one to eat. She learned early on that blood meant nothing, and ultimately regarded her nonrelated clanmates as dearer than her actual relatives. After the resolution between her and Demon, she devoted herself to interacting with all members of the clan, whether it be meeting new kits, butting into issues between young warriors, or scolding her brother in passing. She even made it an odd hobby of hers to sit and speak to expecting queens who were nervous about their first kitting. Rubyheart was nothing if not fully engaged with maintaining a relationship with every cat in camp, which may be why she was selected as Duskclan's final deputy. Though she was prone to listlessness in times of grief and shock, she never let it keep her down. Her clan always came first, and she would always be the one to drag a cat back for trying to leave on impulse alone.

Initial bio (outdated!!)

Description: Demon is a dark tom-cat with a narrow face and sharp ears. His fur is short, but often matted regardless. His paws are notably large for his average size, granting him good grip in day to day clan work. His eyes are a pale color, diluted to the point of appearing more grey than anything else. He has some scarring along his belly fur, but otherwise remains unscathed in appearance.
Gender: Male
Orientation: Straight
Family: Demon's parents are both deceased, his father having been killed by his sister and his mother having drowned. He considers his sister detached from him, only considering his mate, Angelwing, and their three kits (Ravenpaw, Falcon, and Feather) his family.
Age: Adult
Rank: Senior warrior
History: Demon grew up a loner, closely bonded to his father. As such, when Rubyheart murdered their guardian, he turned his back on her for what he declared to be a lifetime. Unfortunately, Shine was a mess after her mate's death, and he was forced to care for her in order to keep her alive. Over time, this task proved more and more difficult, and a bad run in with a cliff fall left her paralyzed. Demon saw it fit to seek out Rubyheart, hoping for aid in tending to their mother. He'd grown desperate, after all. When he did happen upon his sibling, however, his feelings regarding their father exploded in his mind, and he saw it fit to fight with her. Due to this distraction, Shine wound up drowning in the river, unable to swim up to the surface once she was swept away. With nothing left from his past, Demon took solace in joining Duskclan- Perhaps partially due to an attraction to the clan's leader.
With very little to do but serve out life as a warrior, Demon endured the typical trials of any cat. He found no luck with Duskstar, but soon became mates with Angelwing after his injuries from Ashpaw's ambush left him on medical leave for a period of time. This attack did not shake his newfound loyalty to the clan, and he quickly overcame it to continue his life there, even being entrusted with the apprenticeship of Duskstar's own kit, Lunarpaw. In his later years, him and Angelwing left the clan on Demon's sudden restlessness. With a need to visit the friends he'd left behind before he could truly settle, the two traveled far to meet with figures of Demon's past, and eventually encountered three kits he'd unintentionally fathered in twolegplace. The youngest, Raven, was the only one to return with them to the clan when Demon saw his closure sufficiently met.
Notable relations:
n/a
Mate: Angelwing
Personality: Demon carried a paranoia in his heart since his unstable kithood with his equally unstable parents, making him suitable for the life of a loner. If it weren't for his mother, he would have lived quite happily on his own. Similarly to his sister, this paranoia manifested itself in the form of aggression and an overall hot temper. Though he was less prone to acting out with his claws- carrying an oddly strict moral code for a cat outside the clans- he had no fear of speaking his mind and expressing his emotions, often to the poor reception of his clanmates later on. His suitability for solitude made it difficult to blend into Duskclan, even after he decided to stay there, and led to his only close relation being that with his mate. Within his clan, he is distant but satisfied, preferring the repetitive nature of the clan to his life outside of it. Though quite the grump, Demon is kindly to those who he manages to mesh with, often worrying a little too much over them and constantly double checking that he hasn't somehow driven them back. This insecurity likely stems from his time spent with a volatile father, as does the fussing come with having accidentally having his mother drown. Even though Demon has a remarkable sturdiness in the face of tragedy, these events did greatly influence the way he cares for others. He is only as stoic as he has to be to get by; A natural survivor. In his heart, he carries the scars of his mistakes, and is very watchful over his loved one and only, Angelwing, as an inevitable result.

Initial bio (outdated!!)

Description: A runt of a cat with black fur and wide blue eyes.
Gender: Male
Orientation: Straight
Family: Ashpaw was Rubyheart and Wolf's only surviving kit, until his death. Somehow, Dewfeather named him the father of her many, many kits, though the nature of this claim was always left ambiguous.
Age: Adolescent
Rank: Apprentice
History: Perhaps the only reason Ashpaw survived the fox attack that took his brother was due to his unimpressive size. Due to his survival, he was trained hard in kithood to excel in combat, and he was excited to join Duskclan when he was uncovered. Similarly, he had the same excitement to put Dustyriver in her place for snubbing his birth, and was let down when Rubyheart failed to go through with killing the warrior. Enthusing a kit about violence backfired when he decided the only way to express that disappointment was to attack Demon, wounding him greatly in the way only 2011 kittens can. This attack went concealed, known only by Dapplepaw whom Demon entrusted his report with, and may have been the cause for a significant delay in his promotion to apprentice. When he finally got his way and became Ashpaw (apprenticed to Heatherfire), Lunarkit went out of her way to offer him patience and kindness- The first he got, considering the brash nature of his mother. As such, he revealed his wrongdoings to her, and she soon became his nearest friend. Almost like a sibling he never got a chance to grow up with.
In his final period of life, Ashpaw became romantically entangled with Dapplepaw and Dewpaw, for some reason. Dapplepaw had grown intrigued with his warped nature, and Dewpaw just seemed to like him. After Dewpaw commit suicide, Ashpaw developed a fascination with her ability to come back to life, which was misinterpreted as affection even by himself. This led to his confusion towards his genuine feelings for Dapplepaw, who he had been growing closer to as an equal and becoming gradually less murderous in the company of. Though Dapplepaw was clearly bettering him, they never had a chance to pursue a relationship due to their ages and the fact that Dewpaw (now Dewfeather) soon came back with a parade of kits, claiming them to be Ashpaw's. Bewildered, he accepted responsibility over them- likely under the pressure of the moment- which Dapplepaw quickly came to terms with due to her loyalty towards him, even in such an odd circumstance. Unfortunately, upon pursuing one of the kits and Dewfeather upon their absence from the clan, Ashpaw was murdered by Dewfeather's previous mate. Dapplepaw went on to die of a broken heart, robbing Duskclan of three young cats who'd somehow doomed each other. Though Ashpaw has been reported to be sighted as his clan's Starclan messenger, he remains in Silverpelt otherwise, walking the galaxy with Dapplepaw.
Notable relations:
Lunarpaw- In her kithood, Lunarkit was Ashpaw's first friend, being wise beyond her years and oddly patient towards him. Her outstretched paw was the first step in his return to normalcy, and healthy clan relations. The two often conversed and confided in each other, and Lunarkit looked forward to training together when she was apprenticed. Ashpaw died before this wish could come true, but he's proud of her even now.
Dapplepaw- Dapplepaw was the best cat in the clan for Ashpaw. She wasn't afraid to confront his crimes, and refused to take his attempts to distance himself or make some excuse about hating her. The apprentice was always quick to put Ashpaw in line, but always caring for him as well, offering an ear to his nightmares and inner conflicts as he came to terms with who he was and the fact that he needed to start acting like a normal cat. She was patient with him beyond her years, even more so when she had to deal with Dewfeather's mysterious case of kits, and never wavered in her affection for him. Her only regret was that she couldn't grow up with him, but at least they have an eternity together now.
Mate: Dapplepaw
Personality: Ashpaw was full of hate and confusion from a very young age, not understanding why Nightkit had to die and totally distorted by Rubyheart's rush to teach him an unhealthy, aggressive mentality in order to protect himself. With the rashness of a child, he made poor, violent decisions. He threw tantrums when he was scolded, or when Rubyheart displeased him. He was a monster of a kit, made so by his own entitled nature, but also by his mother's failure to rear him with the slow, maternal affection that a queen should. She had him grow up much too fast. Even still, it only took the trust and generosity of clan life to straighten him back out, proving that the damage was likely only as bad as it was due to the irrational nature of youth. In his late years, he was an odd mix of melodramatic and socially awkward. Perhaps if he lived longer, he would have developed a sense of confidence and found a more certain part of himself. Instead, he was confined to the confusion of his adolescence, even with his affections for Dapplepaw and Lunarkit helping him along the right path. His lack of emotional understanding ultimately led to his death, as he never worked out what he wanted to be while he was reconstructing an identity he was robbed of. Sudden fatherhood left him floundering trying to balance his apprenticeship with his new, adult responsibilities; Neither of his friends had the experience of age to understand he was too young to be taking all of this on, and as such, he believed Dewfeather was justified in assigning him that burden. He was a tragic case of a cat lost in himself, condemned by his cluelessness which stemmed from lack of guidance. So goes a kit denied his childhood.

Cloudynose had only gotten one lick over his paw in before the arrival of Beepaw, to which he responded by quickly lowering his leg. Somewhat flustered by her comment over his state, his tail swept self consciously over his dirtied toes. Still, she was right to be questioning him. Stupid warrior, going out without checking for her..! Even now, the work of mentoring could be a challenge to keep up with. Mind instantly racing to find something for them to do- since hunting had clearly been squared away, and Beepaw was never happy kept stagnant- Cloudynose anxiously kneaded at the ground before Lightningstorm's well timed suggestion.
Relieved to have found a task, even if not by himself, he rose from his sitting position to dip his head towards the deputy.
"Of course. Should I fetch him myself, or have you already spoken with him..?"
-
Feeling a little hotter in his pelt from more than just the heat now, Cloudynose nodded sheepishly to the other tom, wondering if you stared at the ground long enough if it would suck you down into it. "That's- That's a really good idea. As expected of you, Lightningstorm! I'll keep it in mind."
Pausing, he looked towards Beepaw, almost wondering if he should send her to do so if only to keep her restlessness at bay. No- It wouldn't take very long, and perhaps learning patience in tiny doses at a time would be... Would be good for her? Perhaps. He shook that train of thought from his head before it could distract him. He'd ponder his job as her mentor once he was on his paws on patrol. "Beepaw, ah, do you mind waiting for me to gather Battail?"
-
Taking note of the look on Beepaw's face, Cloudynose muttered a soft apology and a promise of: "I won't be long."
Feeling particularly antsy with his apprentice likely timing his absence, Cloudynose took a quick look around around the camp for Battail's familiar dark pelt.
-
On a hunch, Cloudynose crossed the distance across camp to nose his way into the warriors den, pleased to find Battail hadn't been somewhere more obscure. Only his front paws penetrating the threshold of the den, he lowered his head respectfully towards the other cat. "Hello, Battail. Um, Beepaw and I were assigned to the afternoon border patrol, and Lightningstorm suggested you come along."
Not wanting to come off as too presumptuous, even if his orders did come from higher up, Cloudynose blinked earnestly towards his clanmate. "That's okay with you, isn't it?"
-
Pleased at the response, Cloudynose backed out from the den, turning back to call out to Beepaw when he caught sight of her with Littlefeather. Ah, of course she would. Not wanting to interrupt, his mouth clapped shut, though he did take a few paces closer to alert the two to his return. Somewhat curious to see what the golden she-cat was up to, he remained silent as he awaited Battail's emergence, ears pricked forward with interest.
-
Patiently, Cloudynose relaxed back onto his haunches as Battail approached, the two of them now waiting on their final patrol member. For all the talk about hurrying, he thought to himself, here they were pausing for her instead! Of course, he could hardly find it in himself to be irritated at her filling the short spans of time by herself. Not when he knew he'd likely kept her waiting much longer just earlier!
As the other tom spoke, Cloudynose mused to himself before choosing his words. "She works really hard. That is, she wants to work all the time. And if it's for the clan, well... I can only support it. Though it does, er- Sometimes it's hard for me to keep up with!" Still watching the subject of his conversation, he tilted his head slightly before resuming in a more contemplative tone. "I guess in that way, she's not the only one learning new things."
-
//central time!
-
Seeing an opportune moment to involve himself, Cloudynose approached Littlefeather to observe the apprentice from her angle. With a thoughtful nod, he looked appreciatively to the other warrior. "You're right. I couldn't have said it any better." Sometimes he wondered how he was picked to be a mentor, with so many capable cats all around him.
-
Somehow, Beepaw's surprise managed to afflict Cloudynose as well, causing him to jolt slightly in return when he was acknowledged. His fur quickly smoothed over as the situation worked itself out, a reassuring purr vibrating in his throat. "Not very long, I promise. It's always good to see you practicing, I couldn't bring myself to interrupt all at once." Smothering the rest of his words down before he could start rambling, he gestured with the flick of an ear towards Battail.
"We're all set to go, if you're done. Uh, sorry, Littlefeather. For cutting this short."
-
Eyes flickering between the two cats, Cloudynose hesitantly began to lead the way to the camp exit, recalling Lightningstorm's words with only short delay. "Um.. Ah, yes, the east border. I trust we can all manage it. He didn't really say anything about remarking, so I suppose we'll have to keep that in mind as we patrol. Just in case."
-
Having confirmed it was okay to lead the two out, Cloudynose's stiffened muscles relaxed, and he broke into an easy but brisk pace towards their destination. Despite his time in camp being so brief, it was still nice to return to the foliage of the territory, even if sun was making the atmosphere feel a little heavier to bear.
"I think this is the hottest day we've had since last season."
-
As the three padded uphill towards the border, Cloudynose's ears rotated backwards towards his clanmates, feeling a niggling sense of curiosity as well to hear Battail speak. He hadn't been clanborn like the other cats around him, and was less intimately familiar with their lives than other members of the group may be. Though it wasn't particularly held against him, he was aware that he knew very little about his fellow warriors. He couldn't help but listen in when it came to picking up more tidbits about the cats he now lived with.
-
The call to gather wasn't unusual, but still managed to scare Softpaw out of her fur half the time. Intrigued with a small beetle she'd found scuttling by her nest, the call to attention elicited a small yelp from her, tail puffing up. With a frantic glance around the apprentice's den, she was relieved to see she hadn't caught anyone's eye, successfully preserving the scraps of dignity she had left. On nervous paws, she padded from the den, hovering near its entrance as she eyed the highrock.

I love it soo sososo much
I aspire to write like the both of you tbh
i didn't see this till right now but i wanted to say i love your writing just as much ;w;
i'm afraid im terrible at like... Big Plots though, so i can't supply a lot of ideas. like in my old clan all the plots came from personal drama between a bunch of cats, but to include everyone means you have to think in broader terms, and it's a lot more difficult :x
maybe there could be an external threat like sunnbeep said, but what would that even be? are there any predators that could be put to use? -
As the border came into view, Cloudynose slowed the pace, raising his muzzle against a slight breeze that came their way, offering brief relief from the overbearing sun. With his head already raised, he peered back at his clanmates, apologetically interjecting. "I can go ahead and check the strength of our markers, if you two would like to move ahead a bit. Oh- I would be right back with you, of course, I just don't want to step on anyone's paws."
He figured it was a decent enough division, even if only for a moment, since Beepaw seemed to want to discuss with Battail further.
