✧ // but i made it with you next to me

Icefeather heaved a sigh as she watched Owlpaw stalk away, hoping that he would at least listen to her. She knew that he hadn't gotten that wound from a branch; she had been a medicine cat long enough to know what claw inflicted wounds looked like. But she didn't want to say anything because clearly Owlpaw had been trying to cover it up. If things got worse, Icefeather would consider telling Ratstar to keep a closer eye on Owlpaw. She didn't want to isolate the apprentice, but it would clearly be a delicate balancing act to keep him from becoming defensive. Glancing at Nightpaw, Icefeather softened and flicked her tail. "Why don't you go see if the elders need anything for me?"

Icefeather sighed, her firm demeanor melting and softening as she placed her tail tip against Owlpaw's uninjured flank. The tom was smaller than her for now, but she was sure he would grow bigger as he aged, and the white tabby had a soft spot for younger cats. "Just take it easy for a few days. Missing some training to heal won't ruin your chances at becoming a warrior, I promise. Do you have any other injuries that I should look at?"

Sighing heavily around the herbs in her mouth, Icefeather shot Ratstar a weary look and simply shook her head. Placing the herbs on the ground, Icefeather gave herself a little shake, making it look more like a shiver. "I got caught in one of th-those freak weather th-things. It was raining in one spot and it happened to be where I was. I watched it m-move on through the t-territory, but I was already s-soaked." Icefeather tried to keep her chattering teeth steady so she could actually talk, but she slipped up a few times making her sound rather pathetic.

// rip sorry .owlflight. i missed that

Icefeather returned Ratstar's nod, noticing Nightpaw in the edges of her vision. As long as the apprentice stayed out of the way, Icefeather didn't mind the younger's presence. Turning back to her work, Icefeather started to work on binding the wound with cobwebs, making sure the dressing was pressed firmly to the wound and poultice so that it wouldn't easily fall off. "I want you to rest for today, no unnecessary movement or you risk loosening the bindings or worsening the wound, understand?" Adopting her firm voice, Icefeather tried to make it clear that she wouldn't tolerate any disobedience on that front.

Icefeather returned quickly to Owlpaw's side, noting the conflict in the apprentice's expression. It was that look - full of fear and anger - that told Icefeather everything she needed to know. This hadn't been because of a late night walk through the territory. But she didn't say anything. Instead she set to work, giving a slight shake of her head at the state of Owlpaw's side and sighed quietly. "Must have been some branch. In the future, I would discourage you from taking late night walks on your own like that, okay?" The white tabby started chewing up a clump of goldenrod to smear on the wound. It wasn't still actively bleeding, so she wasn't as worried about binding it before applying the poultice.

Icefeather was quick to appear from further back in the den, indigo eyes widening at the state of the apprentice in front of her. It looked like he had been through a battle, and she didn't believe his story about taking a walk one bit. But Icefeather wasn't one to push, and she knew that Owlpaw needed treatment before interrogation, so she ushered the tom into a nest before darting off to the medicine stores in the back of the den to gather what she needed.

Nodding in response to her leader's words, Icefeather glanced over Ratstar's pelt, noting that it looked as if Ratstar had already been treated. Regardless, Icefeather would probably check the leader's wounds over in the morning, just to be sure that everything was healing properly and infection was not at risk of setting in. For now, the white tabby just wanted to be off her paws and get some rest. That conversation she wanted to have could also wait until morning.

She hadn't wanted to get caught up in...whatever this was. Icefeather had just been out in the territory trying to gather up some coltsfoot she had spotted the other day, wanting to replenish the stores of it in the medicine den. With all the oddities happening around the territory, she wanted to be prepared for anything that might come. Which of course meant that ShadowClan's medicine cat was entirely unprepared for the sudden torrential downpour that seemed to begin out of nowhere. The strangest part of it was that she could see where it ended in front of her. About three tail lengths away, the rain merely wasn't falling anymore, but over the white tabby's head, it was pouring. Her fur was soaked within seconds and when she tried to move out of the rain's way, it only seemed to follow her, sweeping along the ground with her paw steps and continuing to soak her through. After attempting - unsuccessfully - to outrun the sweeping storm, Icefeather sighed and merely stayed put for a few moments. Thankfully, she watched as the rain continued to move in the direction she had been moving and then suddenly it wasn't raining anymore. Looking up, blinking the rivulets of water from her eyes, Icefeather stared in fascination at the spot storm as it continued on it's sweeping way through the territory.

Shaking her head, mystified and soaked, Icefeather went back to the coltsfoot, gathered it up as quickly as she could, and made her shivering way back to camp. "That was weird," the medicine cat muttered to herself around the herbs. She just hoped it wasn't an omen of things to come.

Icefeather had just ducked her head outside to try and see if there were any cats still outside when she caught the end of Ratstar's command. Stepping back inside, Icefeather quickly informed Cedarpaw that they were going to have company before slinking low to the ground around the edge of camp, making her way to the nursery. Slipping inside the normally cozy den, Icefeather raised her voice to be heard over the howling wind. "Ratstar has order kits and queens into the medicine den for safety from the storm. Follow me!"

Glancing at the entrance to the den, Icefeather couldn't help but agree with her apprentice when she took in the sight of just how much area they would have to cover. Icefeather wasn't sure if any of the warriors in camp would be able to help them, but they had the benefit of having a deeper den than most of the others in camp. If they really needed to take shelter from whatever this was, Icefeather was certain they could hide in the back.

Icefeather ducked out of the warriors' den around the same time that Ratstar came trotting back into camp. It was late and the bundle of herbs clutched in Icefeather's jaws, their sharp tang permeating her sense, was probably the only thing keeping her awake at this point. She had just finished checking up on a warrior who was too stubborn to come to the medicine den for treatment and was ready to call it a night. But when she saw Ratstar and Sorrelfire near the center of camp, the medicine cat remembered that Ratstar had wounds of her own that might not have been treated yet. Besides that, she also wanted to speak with the young leader about something. Granted, the conversation could wait until morning, but if she needed to heal Ratstar anyway, it was a simple conversation that could be had while Icefeather was patching the leader up.

The wind howling loudly outside the entrance to the den prompted Icefeather to peer out, glancing up at the sky and feeling her heart drop to her paws. What in the name of StarClan was that? She knew that there had been some on and off oddities with weather occurring around the territory lately, but this was a whole other level. Icefeather had never seen anything of the sort when she looked up at the sky now. Fearing the worst, Icefeather ducked back into the den and called for her apprentice. "Cedarpaw! We need to make sure everything is stored properly and barricade the entrance to the den somehow. There's a huge storm brewing and I don't like the looks of it."
