It turned out he was one of the first wolves to the dining hall, not that he minded. As long as he didn't miss breakfast, Niko didn't care if he arrived first or last. Picking his normal seat, towards the end of the table where his best friend Nydia normally sat he was greeted with the scent of savory, fulsomely gamey meat. In response the man's stomach rumbled as he sat, absentmindedly picking up a fork to twirl in his fingers while he waited for the rest of the pack. First in came Autumn, taking the seat to his right, and not at her usual spot at the head of the table. Not that he minded. Immediately he could scent the stress rolling off her in waves, and for a moment he racked his brain of something to say to her. Anything to help his friend take her mind off the pack stresses for a little while. "If my pack had survived I may be in her position. Trying to run a pack." At the thought the carefree male shuddered.

He respected and admired Autumn immensely, got along well with her and generally liked her company; but it unnerved him to think that in another life he would be running a pack. "Breakfast smells great." He finally blurted out somewhat lamely. While he got a smile at his comment, the stress didn't seem to lessen- if anything the alpha seemed more stressed. Figuring to let her be for now, Niko would check in with her later to see if there was anything that he could help her with, the male leaned back in his chair- grunting a good morning as Zenith strolled into the place. As far as the beta went, Nikolai didn't know him all too entirely well. He knew that some of the pack members were scared by his quiet, and sometimes fierce demeanor but Nikolai wasn't one. He appreciated the fact that Zenith took his job so seriously. Someone had to step up to roles of power and since Nikolai wasn't sure that kind of role befitted him, the male was more than happy to let Zenith do as such. "Morning." Nikki chirped as Zenith sat a few chairs down from him. At this point his stomach was rumbling, but he made no indication of this.

Food was scarce and he didn't want to be drooling at the table over the scraps like a child. Next in was the new broody, apathetic wolf who'd joined only two days ago. This was a mystery for Nikolai; the new wolf, Atticus, had been hanging around the territory for close to four months, but every time Autumn had extended him a place in the pack ranks he'd turned her down. And turned her down was putting it nicely. Atticus was aggressive, defensive, and seemed to hate packs with a sort of passion that made Nikolai wonder exactly just where he was coming from. From the couple times Nikki had seen him around the pack quarters, he had noted a few scars that looked like they were inflicted from fights with probably other wolves. The tattooed brunette was obviously uncomfortable around wolves which really went against their social nature. So, Nikolai had concluded that somewhere in his pack he'd either been an omega in an abusive pack- or just was an outsider to an abusive pack. That's why as the other, lankier male passed Niko offered a broad grin and a friendly wink.

As Atticus sat down on the empty, other side of the table he kept his head low avoiding eye contact; and the desire to befriend the other male stirred once again in Niko's veins. "Hey, Atticus right? Have you seen the territory yet? Wanna go see it?" Leaning forward, trying to include the other male Niko's whispered question was ignored. Equating it to, Atti' was uncomfortable in large pack settings Niko leaned back and let him be. The next wolf in was Lyric, which Nikolai offered a thin smile. It wasn't that he disliked the redhead, simply that she kind of intimidated him with her bold flirtations and loud, confident ways. Don't get him wrong, Nikolai was thrilled that they had such a confident, out going pack member; just he was as little too meek for that and easily got flustered when she turned her flirtatious humor on him. There was still no sign of Nydia and a sprig of concern welled in his chest. She had always been small, and prone to getting colds and whatnot;and with the weather turning colder he hoped she was feeling alright. A few quiet conversations were being had though Niko paid no attention to it.

Instead his gaze would flicker towards the door every few moments; brow furrowing when his best friend failed to show up. Finally the door banged open revealing the missing omega and Nikolai felt a small smile touch on his lips. The seat to his left was still empty and Nydia made short work of jogging over to it, slumping down with a relieved sigh. She looked... Different Nikolai realized as his gaze swept over her. Her dark brown eyes, almost black in color were rimmed with a bit of makeup while her hair was nicely brushed and the look was completed with a mid-thigh length, navy blue lacy dress. "Who're you trying to impress?" Niko teased, raising an eyebrow at her. Nydia flushed almost crimson and stammered that she was an adult and entitled to wear makeup if she so wanted. However, the easy, laid-back atmosphere of the dining hall was changed as abruptly as a Nor'Easter; it started when he could of sworn he heard the faintest whisper of his name mentally though could place who said it; or if he was imagining it.

Then, beside him Nydia tensed and glancing over he noted her face absolutely fall. What was going on? "Nydia?" He asked her, telepathically as he was concerned someone had done something to her. If his slender brunette friend heard, she didn't answer and feeling unnerved Nikolai didn't push the manner. Instead, breakfast continued in the normal fashion. Autumn got her bowl first, took a bite and then Zenith went up for his. Once he had started Niko, Atti', and Lyric went up for their fill. The male was quick to get back to his seat and shove a bite into his mouth so Nydia could go up. Silence was the only thing that crackled in the dining hall for a little bit until Nydia, having gotten her food and had taken a small bite turned to him, her face weary. "Good morning Niko. Did you sleep well?" Shrugging his shoulders, offering a beaming smile to maybe cover some of the tension in the dining hall he nodded. "Yeah, I did. Well as I ever do." He joked, shoveling another bite of soup into his mouth. The awkward tension which had been boiling since Nydia walked in came to a head when he heard Autumn's telepathic "Sh!t."

And the second she was done with her food hurried outside leaving the rest of the pack in a quiet stupor. Nikolai finished not soon after, mostly because he was hungry and had wolfed his food down while mentally being smug for his play on words. Nydia had hardly eaten before giving her bowl to the newbie Atticus who glared levelly at her before snatching it from her. Atticus then set to work on it, hunching over the bowls and practically inhaling them. Nikolai was equal parts disgusted, concerned, and awed by how fast Atticus was eating. For awhile he sat there, leaned back with his arms crossed over his chest lost in thought. Should he have gone after Autumn? He had kind of thought that she wanted to be alone but when her lonesome howl drifted towards him, echoing over Misted Woods' decent sized territory he felt... Unsure. Something seemed to be upsetting her- but he had no idea what it was. He had sensed her nervousness, and stress whenever she walked into a room lately but he had equated it to the normal feelings of taking over a pack. Perhaps Nikki was wrong. Unbeknownst to him, a frown had settled on Nikolai's lips the longer he thought about it.

Maybe they all just needed a day to only relax. To bond with one another, help assimilate everyone into this new regime led by Autumn. Do pack building excersises, then all just relax together and watch a movie. His vote went for The Last Unicorn. That movie was a masterpiece and the grandaddy of animation films. Niko had grown up watching that movie. "Whats on the agenda for today?" Nydia soft, velvety voice trickled into the room, jerking Nikolai from his thoughts. Leaning forward as Zenith replied with a simple, "I want to take a few Wolves to patrol our territory. Stress is high among us.. I think it will put us at ease for a bit once we know Humans aren't near an attack... Yet.." That was one part of the problem, but Nikolai felt that some of the tension was also natural and would only be ebbed with time. They had a new alpha, ranks were all jumbled up and on top of that it was the age when wolves began finding their life-mate and settling down. So much was happening in such a short time- though he did agree that the knowledge of knowing hunters weren't in their territory would lessen the stress.

However, he perked up as Zenith added that he'd like to also have a few hunting groups go out. Slinging a cheerful arm around Nydia's shoulders, Nikolai piped up almost immediately "Well go hunting." Feeling Nydia squirm he let her go, offering a charming grin. The thing about Niko was, he was a very touchy-feely person; though normally no one had any problems with it. Letting her go the male turned his bright gaze to the beta, a silent plea there. He had gone patrolling the past few times and hunting with friends in small groups would also bring him some relief. Nydia was just one of the better hunters of the group so it made sense that she tag along to whatever hunting party there was going to be.And while Nikolai was a better fighter than hunter- he wasn't shabby at bringing down a few elk for dinner. However, he sobered up somewhat quickly as his gaze once again drifted to the door. "Do you think Autumns going to be okay? She may need some space but it could be dangerous out there. God forbid she run into hunters." It was always a fear of his, hunters that was. Nikolai knew full well the destruction they could deal a pack.

I think that if he ends up with Autumn he will be a good alpha, it will force him to kind of grow up a little bit which wouldn't be a bad thing. But as of now the idea cows him a little.

Anyway, I do agree it would be interesting to see the hunters manage to turn {or both?} of Autumn's parent{s} into like an absolutely rabid animal that has to be put down for the safety of the pack. Either Autumn could kill it, or someone else in the pack spurring there to be a little tension with whomever killed the former alpha and Autumn or something. I dunno my plots are so cheesy man lol

Before I reply on the RP thread:

Occ: I'm thinking that later Autumn could get kidnapped by hunters Again c: Test the pack's loyalty to her. Maybe get a new Alpha out of it if we have enough males by then. Let me know what you think.

Did you want Niko to get there as they kidnapping her and help fight them off? Or did you want him to get there and have her be gone?

Also I had an idea. Autumn confess her love to Nikolai, but he totally rejects her , and breaks her heart, unknowing of his love for her. He dated Nydia and eventually Autumn gets kidnapped by the hunters, as they knew she didn't have an alpha male yet. So The pack has to save her and during this Nikolai has to grow up and save Autumn?

I think that's a possiblity but I also think it's really too early in the RP to decide who I see Niko with long-term. I really prefer slow-burners and letting things work out how they work out. So I think it's a possiblity but let's just RP together for a little while before deciding which way to push their relationship- with either Nydia or Autumn.

"Alright. Nikolai, and Nydia. I will let you pick two more Wolves to come with you on a Hunt. Focus on the Eastern part of the territory. I believe you could get lucky there." They would really only need one wolf but he shrugged anyway. "You got it boss." Niko chirped, excitement shining on his handsome features. Glancing around the table his gaze settled onto Lyric who was staring blearily down at her half-finished soup and Atticus. As if reading his mind Zenith added, privately he assumed so the new wolf wouldn't hear, "Try get Atticus to come with you. It'll be good for him to get familiar to our Territory." Nikolai nodded, fully agreeing on that. However, due to the male broodily staring down at his own hands Nikolai set to asking Lyric first. "'Dia, go wait outside okay? I'll be out in a minute." Nikki promised, his dark eyes shining with an exuberance that wasn't foreign to him.

Nydia nodded once, that blush still staining her prominent cheekbones. Had he done something wrong? Shaking it off Niko sauntered towards Lyric, a charismatic smile plastered on his lips he didn't entirely feel. "Hey, Lyric- we're going hunting Zenith told me to to take two other wolves with Nydia and I so I figured you'd wanna come?" He felt his heart stutter as she slowly raised her sultry gaze up towards him. "If you do, Nydia's outside why don't you go join her?" Leaving Lyric to decide if she wanted to go or not Nikolai took a deep breath setting his sights on Atticus. The male hadn't moved a muscle, oddly still as his hazel gaze was glued to his hands. "Oh boy." Niko muttered under his breath though didn't let that friendly grin falter as he approached the other male. "Hey, Atticus?" The other male flinched, though this time a smoldering hazel gaze was raised up to Niko's face, thin pink lips pressed into a scowl, though the heavily tattooed male remained quiet.

For about ten minutes Nikolai stood there, feeling like a fool as Atticus remained quiet. "Hey, man no pressure alright? Zenith just thought it'd be a good idea to take you around to officially see the territory. It's only gonna be me, Nydia the omega, and Lyric the redhead." At the mention of Lyric, Nikki could of sworn he saw the most fleeting furrowing of eyebrows; but it was gone as quick as it had come. Leaving Nikolai to believe he imagined the subtle facial expression. To his utter shock Atticus stood up, stretching out to his full 6'3 height, but due to his lankiness almost appeared taller than the more muscled Nikolai. Tattoos covered almost every inch of skin that the other male could see, and he was begrudgingly impressed. He only had the pain tolerance for the compass tattoo on his right side, never mind that many tattoos. As Atticus brushed past him, the brunette kappa momentiarly shocked, quickly scurried after him. "You're gonna love the territory. Scenic, that's the word I'm looking for. Plus the girls are sweet. Well- Lyric's a little fiery but in a good way."

He nearly fell over himself when he started to explain the other two's personality; though was only given a dry expression in return. This man seemed to be one of few words. Luckily he was spared any more awkward, one-sided conversation as the two men burst outdoors; and Niko was quick to make his way to the middle of the clearing to begin shifting. After shedding his clothes so they wouldn't rip, fur was quick to sprout along his spine; his face elongate and shift into a snout. His skeletal design was changing and his arms and legs were thinned, snapped back and finally a wolf stood in the place of a man. Most of the others shifted generally as quick as he did, save for Nydia who'd always struggled. Even now as a sturdy looking black wolf had taken the place of Lyric, and a surprisingly muscular and well-built looking wolf with cream and gold wolf, with black rimmed ears and some small tufts and splash of black along his spine stood in the place of Atticus. However, Nydia was hunched up panting lightly as she seemed to be between forms. Padding over to her, Nikolai made a soft chuffing noise to let her know that it was alright.

They waited another five minutes until Nydia had fully shifted, thick black fur ruffled up against the wind with three ringlets of silver on her neck and chest; almost like silver necklaces Nikolai thought. Large, Halloween-orange colored orbs looked weary as her tongue lolled out of the side of her mouth. "Are you okay? Do you need to rest for a moment?" Nikolai asked Nydia, concern welling like a sprig in his chest. She just shook her head- to the best of her ability in wolf form. Swishing his tail, he turned around to face the other two."Alright everyone, let's go! We're heading to the Eastern chunk of the territory." Nikolai directed, taking the lead. His snow and gray colored wolf surged ahead, paws churning out dirt and dead leaves in his wake as he began running towards the directed hunting area. Wind whipped at his face, and the male relished in the feeling. There was nothing as freeing as running about with your packmates in wolf form. They were nearly there when he felt Autumn's voice in his head, calling his name. "Nikolai?"

For a moment he paused in his carefree sprint, almost causing Lyric to collide into him. The black wolf growled a warning, though there was no bite behind it. "Go on ahead without me." He told the group, figuring it'd just be best to follow the howling which had begun to cascade around their territory and just go talk to Autumn. Lyric had no problem with it, and if Atticus did he said nothing. The wolf had only gotten a few feet away when he heard Nydia's soft voice in his head. "We don't know if there are hunters. Why don't I at least... Like escort you there?" She raised a good point and Niko really didn't want to be hunter fodder. "Yeah sure, you can come with me. Just give me a little privacy when I talk to Autumn. I'm not sure what she want's but she probably doesn't want to share with the rest of the pack." At this he could see a little light dancing in Nydia's amber gaze. Without warning Niko once again broke into a run, though to her credit Nydia kept up pretty well with him. The run there was quiet, Niko and Nydia's pelts brushing together every so often though it didn't bother him.

Finally when they reached the place Autumn was, Nydia sat down and waited about twenty yards away. "I'll hunt some small game around here. Just howl when we're gonna re-join Lyric and Atticus." Swishing his tail at this he turned, heading towards the howls, but namely their source- Autumn. Curiosity prickled his veins as Nikolai trotted through undergrowth towards the clearing. Had he done something? Racking his brain the wolf didn't think he did- but she may just want to talk. They had both lost their parents to hunters and he'd told her that anytime that she wanted to; they could talk to one another. Bursting through the brush into the clearing he noticed two things. Autumn still had her head tipped back in an eerie howl, and that something seemed... Off. Hunters? He hoped not. Extremly on guard Niko tipped his head back, joining in with the howl as it ended; alerting her of his presence. "What's up Autumn? What can I do for you?" He asked, trotting forward until they were only about a foot away from one another.

OOC: Wasn't sure about that lol. Duly noted, I will go back and fix that.

He knew that these were trying times; however he was trying to help in his own ways. Extra hunts, patrols and a cheerfulness he hoped would spread to the rest of the pack. Instead of acting dour and gloom about the state of the pack so far, and the fact that it could very well be teetering on the edge of extinction; he was happy. He was elated in his day to day activities, and made sure to make the other pack-mates laugh; to try to make them forget even for a little while about the predicate they were in. So when Autumn began talking about how panicked and scared she was about the pack he completely understood. While he knew that an alpha male wouldn't make everything magically better- it would set a strong example for the pack and someone would be there to help Autumn face the challenges of leading a pack. "I needed to tell you something this morning. The fate of the pack might depend on it." It sounded serious and for a moment he wondered what was wrong. His mind drifted towards an alpha male, but quickly rebutted that thought. There was no way that she was asking him to be the alpha male.

Nikolai, who was likely one of the most irresponisble wolves of the pack. To top it off, he wasn't really sure he was ready to be mated to someone. Yes, he thought Autumn was lovely- really he did, but becoming lifelong mates was a biiig commitment. And Nikolai wanted to be absolutely sure that his mate would be the right choice for him. He said nothing as she continued on, "I have no idea what I'm going to do. I need your advice. Of I don't do something soon, the pack might...." Again her voice trailed off, and Niko sat down, drawing his tail around his front paws as best he could; ears angled forward. He knew what she meant now. This pack was going to be in danger if she couldn't find a strong male figure to lead this pack with. To become mates with and have pups to carry on the legacy of the Misted Woods pack. This much had been explained to him when Nikolai was with his birth-pack; the pack he was the next alpha male of. A long whine was dragged from Autumn's throat as her scent changed to something more acidic and bitter than normal- fear and uncertainty.

"You should have taken the beta position. Always have given me the best advice." At this he made a soft chuffing noise, looking away from her. "Zenith was born to be beta, the great thing about me is my advice comes free without the all the duties and pack politics." He joked, sticking up for the current beta. "Zenith would do anything for this pack, you know what. He makes a strong beta- have you considered him for alpha male?" Poor Niko, always so oblivious to romantic feelings of others. But, he thought he had a point. Zenith knew how to run a pack, and he got on well with Autumn. Perhaps that was exactly what this pack needed as of now. But he waved it off, letting her mull that thought over. "Anyway, you said you wanted to talk to me this morning. Tell me what you needed to now if you still want to." The male instructed, calm emerald orbs trained on the other wolf. Niko was trying to be what she needed to continue to lead the pack. He knew that she was a great alpha, and the pack would flourish

Above the blue skies had dulled to a gray, and thick; angry looking clouds rolled overhead. That rain he felt in the wind earlier looked like it would be making it's appearance. "If you're asking my advice- I'll tell you what my father told me once. A mate won't magically fix everything. Don't stop looking for a mate- but make sure the pack accepts you. They need to accept your leadership before they can accept an alpha male's leadership. Not saying the pack doesn't accept you, just with everything that's happened, your parents and the hunters- a pack bonding day may be in order. Everyone goes out hunting together, running through the territory patrolling and what have you, maybe with people who wouldn't normally go out together. I think that's something you can do to help alleviate some of the stress and tension in the pack right now."

He paused for a moment, remembering the bigger problem on her mind- the quest for a mate. "Of course you can do all this while you continue to look for your mate. I mean, or... Woo him. I don't know if you had someone in mind. But! A pack bonding day might be a good time to start courting." Nikolai rambled on, ideas flowing off the tip of his tongue with a shocking speed. Normally he tried to keep ideas of how to run the pack to himself; he was no alpha, but now Autumn just seemed like she could use some ideas. "We did pack bonding exercises in my old pack when the pack began getting too cliquey and distant from one another. Anyway, Autumn, what did you want to talk to me about this morning?"

Nikolai sighed a little huff of relief when Autumn replied that she wasn't talking about a mate. God he was so oblivious to the inner-romantic workings of the pack that he'd have no idea about who to even suggest for a mate. It wasn't like he was terribly close to William, Zenith, or Hunter; so he couldn't really suggest any of them. "Do I really complain that much?" Feeling a little panicky he offered a sort of huffing noise as he flicked an ear. "Er... No, no you don't. It's just that everyone knows that you've been looking is all." Niko assured, and for a moment she didn't reply just stood and flicked her tail to motion for the male to follow her. Getting to her paws, he took a step forward however paused looking in the direction he'd left Nydia. "She'll be fine." He promised himself though lingered a moment longer before catching up with the alpha. About them the thin, mountain air whipped against his thick pelt, bu it was nothing compared to Canadian winters; so Niko was relatively warm. A few stray snow flakes floated about the two as they exited the territory and again that gnawing feeling of worry for Nydia crept into his stomach.

Nikki had left 'Dia alone, near the edges of their territory a good twenty minutes from any member of the pack. That strange, unsettling scent still hung about that part of the territory making him quite nervous. However, Autumn had said she needed her guidance, and if Nydia was in trouble- she'd howl. Niko... Nikki wouldn't let anything happen to the omega. That's a promise he made her years ago. The ground beneath his feet had turned rocky, crumbly and unlike the forest dirt they had left back in the territory. "Whatever's bugging her must be serious." The large snowy male thought, his ears pressing against his head for a moment with a deep worry. Was the pack alright? Obviously there were the threats of hunters but... Was there something more coming for them? Nikki shivered at the thought. Finally they reached a cliff overhanging a lake, scenic and peaceful. He could feel the soothing atmosphere it yielded and eagerly he sat down, his luminous emerald orbs scanning the water and his other surroundings. Autumn too had sat down beside him, and shivering she pressed herself into him. The male didn't mind. He was born in colder climates, engineered for this kind of weather.

In fact, often in the summer he was at greater risk of heat stroke due to the density of his coat trapping the warmth in. Thus why he didn't always shift as much in hotter weather. For a moment the duo said nothing staring out at the water stretching out before them. "My father.... my father told me that the hunters were now targeting me. They would be hunting us down, starting with me. They know how we don't have an Alpha Male, and if we don't get one soon they will kill off the pack. Starting with me. I don't want to rush getting a mate but we only have until next year. Then they will kill us." Almost out of the blue his alpha began talking, and the male listened with a morbid sensation. So that's why she'd been rushing to find a mate. Frowning, he said nothing- biting his tongue until she'd finished her story. "That's a difficult situation." For a moment that's all he could think of to say, and frowning he tried to think of the males in the pack. The males who would be able to pick up such a challenging situation. The wind whistled high and clear above his head, causing the alpha to shiver once more.

"You probably don't have the leisure of finding someone whom you know you're in love with. But- don't worry. I'll always be around to help. And the pack supports you. You just find the male you think you want as your alpha male and don't be shy about going after him." The male was utterly oblivious to the fact that Autumn had set her gaze on him. For awhile longer he waited around, though that guilt had turned all consuming and the thought of something happening to Nydia made him almost physically ill. "I left Nydia back near the edge of the territory on her own. If something happens to her because she was waiting for me, I'll never forgive myself. Let's head back. I'll do what I can to help you- just give me tasks to do and I'll get them done." Niko promised, standing up finally and shaking his fur out, anxiety seeping into his scent like a bitter, icy wind. The way back was much quicker, mostly because the male had broken into a quick lope; and by the time they got back to the edge of the territory he paused, turning around. "Why don't you come hunting with the others? Lyric and newbie are scoping out the prey and Nydia was hunting small game while she waited. It's gonna be fun." What better way to relax than a hunt?

Nikolai wasn't sure why Autumn was acting this way. Had she not picked up on the odd, almost metallic like scent in the air? Being this far out in the territory by ones' self was dangerous- especially for an omega like Nydia. Did she not realize that on the edge of the territory was the easiest spot to pick off any wolf- regardless of rank?! He'd been worried about Autumn being out here on her own- but whenever he brought up Nydia he noted the flash of hurt and annoyance in her gaze. And he didn't quite get why. Sure, it might not be ideal to have to cut short a conversation like this, but if it saved a pack mate's life and there wasn't much he could do. Niko wouldn't sit around idly chatting while Nydia may be in danger. "Autumn, with all due respect there are a lot more things than pack members I'm worried about. Hunters. Traps, lone wolves- it's dangerous for any wolf to be out here on their own, and as a higher ranking wolf than her, and a friend, it's my job to look out for her." He made sure to still sound civil, though an icy sort of politeness had crept into his voice. "I know who I want as my mate. But I don't want to rush things... especially since I think he likes another wolf over me."

He just flicked an ear, unsure of what to say. What could someone say in a situation like this? He was beginning to think that she meant him, that Autumn wanted him as her mate; which made the young male rather reluctant. He knew that deep down, he didn't want to be an alpha. He liked his rank and the way that things were as of now. But he also knew that Autumn was right, they were running out of time and if she was set on having him as an alpha- what could he say? No, and let the whole pack be destroyed including Nydia? Obviously he could not let that happen. For a long while he said nothing, his back and shoulder tensed as the wind blew in his face; his scent had shifted to include notes of panic and anger. None of this was fair. Autumn should be able to wait until she found her soul-mate, a true alpha male she adored with every inch of her soul to be able to lead. And Niko? Well... He should be able to do the same. He wasn't sure who he wanted as his mate, the choices weren't really abundant in the pack. There was Lyric, Autumn, or Nydia and the undertaking of a mate and pup's were a huge thing.

Was he ready for any of that? Of course his mind leaned towards one wolf in particular, but before anything else she was his friend. He was sure the omega saw him as nothing else. And honestly, he didn't really want to change anything about his life as of now. "Nikolai... we're running out of time... soon the hunters will be here. And there will be nothing we can do about it." He had begun walking away, towards the spot that he left Nydia in when Autumn spoke again and Niko turned around look at her with a concerned gaze."Autumn, we'll figure something out. We always do. If push comes to shove we run. But you're a great alpha- you won't let anything happen to the pack. I know that. As does everyone else- have a little more confidence in yourself." He spoke, his voice mellowed and kind. "Since you don't want to come hunting with everyone, stay safe up here. Please, it's dangerous in these parts. At least consider heading deeper into the territory closer to camp." He implored, and with that he turned back towards the way he'd come up; where he left Nydia.

Tilting back his head the male let a chilling, powerful howl pour from his throat- hopefully letting Nydia that he was on his way back, and the rest of the hunting group they'd be able to hunt soon enough for dinner. Once he was done, Niko flicked his tail to Autumn letting her know he was leaving and charged into the brush and down the hill towards the spot he left Nydia. However, upon approaching the spot she'd sat to wait for him- the omega was gone. Suddenly Niko's stomach clenched with unease and carefully he called out "Nydia? Where are you, time to go hunt." However, nothing but silence answered him. What if a hunter had gotten her in his absence? A soft growl left his throat at the thought and the male, nose to the ground began tracking her scent down- praying that it would lead him to her; an unharmed Nydia. "Where could you have gotten off to?" He thought to himself, unease prickling his paw-steps. Niko had been following her scent-trail as quickly as he could- but was still panicked that something would happen before he could get to his friend.

Niko was trying to convince himself that she'd just wandered off hunting- but why hadn't she answered him? The scent-trail was getting fresher, and he knew that she was close. Her trail had led him deeper into the territory towards the little creek which ran throughout some of it. What was she doing around here? And that's when it hit him- the scent of another male wolf, a lone wolf. A low whine had built in his throat and wasting no time he charged ahead, reaching the creek side and sure enough there was the familiar small omega, and a wolf he'd never seen before. Without reading the situation he burst through the brush quick to step in front of the omega and bare his fangs, growling low and menacingly; hackles raised. He couldn't smell any blood or fear, but that didn't mean it calmed him. "Nydia, are you okay? What's going on?" Asking her in a tight voice, still blocking her from view of the other wolf, Niko watched the unknown male with narrowed eyes, a snarl still echoing from his throat. If this male had tried to hurt or trick the omega- there would be hell to pay for.

OOC: Okay, so I'll give you a list of names and what's going for each of them. I'll start with the big hitters first.

Autumn: She likes Nikolai, and wants to ask him to be her mate. Nikolai however is reluctant to be anyone's mate regardless of an alpha, so she's dealing with that. She has revealed to Niko that if she does not have a mate within a year that hunters will come to destroy the pack. She and Nikolai had been talking outside the territory, and Autumn got upset because he was worried about leaving Nydia on her own in case of lone wolves or hunters. Autumn got frustrated that he went to make sure she's okay, and left Autumn so Autumn went to a spot that only the alpha knows and is considering giving herself up to the hunters.

Nydia: She, Nikolai, Lyric, and Atticus were sent out hunting. Before they reached the hunting grounds Autumn asked to speak with Niko at the edge of the territory. Nydia escorted him over there because with hunters running around and lone wolves- it's dangerous and she didn't want to see him get hurt because she too is in love with Niko. While Niko goes to talk with Autumn she assumes that Autumn is telling Nikki she wants him as the alpha male. She doesn't really think that Nikolai would pick her over Autumn and therefore decided to hunt some small game while she waited for him. On her hunt she picked up a lone wolf, William's scent, and went to check it out. She's there currently unsure about what to do as she picked up Autumn's thought that she wants to turn herself into the hunters. She has shown her maturity by asking Nikolai to go and check on her, to have a chat and help calm the alpha down.

Nikolai: So my sweet lil' cinnamon bun is 100% oblivious to the fact that Autumn would like him to be alpha male. He enjoys his kappa spot and hadn't really even begun to think about picking a mate until Autumn called him out to ask for his advice on what to do and find a mate etc. etc. He got to thinking about it and has kind of thought about asking Nydia to be his mate, but nothing seriously. This is kind of putting him in an awkward spot with Autumn, who once again really wanted him to be the alpha male. He knows that the pack is in danger, from the hunters and whatnot, and he's kind of wondering if there's anything he can do. Autumn strongly hinted at wanting him, and it crossed his mind that this might be the easiest way to protect the pack- including Nydia so it's something he's thinking about. Niko left Autumn to go find Nydia and found her with a lone wolf, William and that's where he is now. Nydia has told him to go back to Autumn and calm her down.

Zenith: I think he was patrolling. Checking the borders and going to train with Jake but Jake ran off to go find Nydia? Anyway he's tracking down Autumn atm.

Lyric: Has been sent out to go hutning. Was originally with Nydia and Niko but they split leaving her with the newbie, Atticus. Neither have posted in a couple pages, I think she's waiting on Atticus. Zenith has told everyone to get home so they'll likely be heading back to camp soon.

Atticus: New to the pack, grumpy, hates packs, read his bio you'll understand. He lived just outside pack borders for four months, over that time period Lyric was sneaking out to help him- bringing supplies like food- even though the pack barely has enough and she could get in serious trouble if anyone found out, clothes, shampoos and soaps, blankets and pillows. Lyric is the only wolf that Atti' trusts as of now, from their chatting thread they'll probably develop into mates.

William: Lone wolf, was found by Nydia. Jake and Niko have joined her in questioning him; waiting on his response before I post up my actual reply. Hope this helps.

Nikolai was feeling somewhat miserable. He hated fighting with his packmates and still wasn't sure what Autumn's problem was before. She knew that he and Nydia were close; and he still felt his concern was warranted. He'd tried to help her, hear out the problems that plagued her mind and then go make sure that Nydia was okay. And what did he find? The small omega was talking with a lone wolf. Sure now that Niko paused, flattened his fur and heard the other male out he didn't sound dangerous- but this could of ended very differently. Frustration began to boil in his blood the longer he thought about it. "I have no idea what she even wanted, were we not talking about hunters?" The thought drifted across his mind, privately. Flicking his tail with annoyance Niko's thoughts were cut by the male's deep, "I wasn't aware this was your pack land, I guess I'll be moving on." A bit of pity stirred in Niko's stomach. He remembered trying to sling by as a lone wolf; and maybe that's what spurred him to lower his guard. "You know, it's gonna drop below freezing tonight. Why don't we show you back to the pack and you can rest safely."

The kappa softened his stance to something less aggressive. Nikki knew that forlorn expression in the other male's eyes. He had it before the pack took him in. "Besides our alpha will probably want to check in with you. Just to make sure you understand where our territory is and isn't." This would give the loner male an opportunity to talk to Autumn about joining the pack. And the more Niko thought about it, the more of a good idea it seemed. This male seemed calm, composed even in trying situations, and clearly resourceful enough to survive on his own. Wouldn't that make a good alpha male? Who knows, this male may be the answer to their problems. It was only about a fifteen minute run from their current position, but the problem lied in where Autumn had gotten off to. The thought of the alpha again brought a bought of frustration to Nikki's veins. What did she want from him? He wasn't good at reading between lines and it was stressing him out- because clearly she wanted something more from him than advice but Nikki wasn't sure what it was.

Alright perhaps the more logical part of his brain did, but by no means was he going to acknowledge that. He was about to turn away, to flick his tail to indicate the lone male should follow him when a rather harrowing thought, not one of his own, crossed his mind. "Maybe I should just leave the pack... Zenith can take care of the pack... I'll just give myself to the hunters. That way, the pack can have their happily ever after, and I can be stuck in my living nightmare." Flinching he noted that Nydia had flinched as well. She must of heard it, Autumn was not having a good time keeping her thoughts to herself today. For a while the shock of what she'd thought stunned Nikki and Nydia into immobilization; and the male felt concern and anxiety creep up his throat. What was she talking about, letting Zenith become the alpha male? Beneath that cocnern however was anger. What, just because things were getting hard she wanted to quit? Leave them all off worse for wear? Whether Autumn liked it or not- she was the alpha.

Not him, not Zenith or Lyric. Her parents had groomed her over from day one to take over this pack. That was their legacy. The legacy that her family had held for eons and she wanted to just give it up? Did she really believe the hunters would leave them alone if they had her? Even if that were true, and it wasn't he came from that situation, the pack would likely break apart. He hadn't realized he was grinding his teeth until Nydia spoke to him, private, soft, and gentle. "Nikki, maybe you should go. Calm her down after.... That last thought." For a moment he said nothing, his ears pressed back against his skull. The last time they had talked it hadn't gone well; but Nydia was watching him with those winsome marmalade eyes and he couldn't say no. "Ill see if I can find her and talk to her. Stay with Jake until you get back to camp and then let me know if you guys run into any trouble okay?" Niko directed, still a little reluctant at the thought of Nydia being alone with the loner wolf. But, it had to be done; someone needed to talk to Autumn he supposed. Turning to Jake he directed in a firm voice, "Take the loner back to camp. I'll be back with Autumn. Take Nydia with you." He wanted to make the other male promise to look after her, but Nikki knew that she wasn't a pup.

And he equated the reason of his worry for her wellbeing the strange, metallic and hunter-like scent in the air. That and the fact she was the lowest ranking wolf, he'd been looking out for Nydia for years. Shaking his head of those thoughts he turned, bounding back the way he'd come from. Autumn couldn't be too far and luckily he had a penchant for tracking things down. "What's going on? I smell danger. have you found anything?" And there was Zenith, teetering between anger and worry. "Lone wolf. Nydia and Jake are taking him back to camp. I'm trying to track down Autumn. 'Dia suggested that someone try to calm her down." Niko informed as he reached the last place he'd seen Autumn; lowering his bulky head towards the ground. It wasn't that hard to track the wayward alpha down. Her emotional status was intense therefore it was pretty easy to pick up her scent; his search had led him far past the boundaries of the territory. In fact, what he found was a small log cabin, and from where he stood hidden in the bushes he could see Autumn laying on the porch and even in her wolf form looking quite glum.

"Now or never." Niko decided, and with a soft sigh stepped from the bushes into the small clearing. On impulse he quickly shifted into his human form, and once done stood up feeling her gaze on him. Frowning, adjusting the hem of his shirt beneath his jacket, and turning up the wool collar he shivered feeling the cold much more potently in this form. "Pack's worried about you." Niko stated easily jogging up the steps to crouch down in front of Autumn. "What's going on? You may not like it, but I got your thoughts. Do I really need to list all the reasons it'd be breathtakingly stupid to turn yourself into the hunters?" The man's voice was a little hoarse and rough around the edges for being in his wolf form for so long, but there was a fierceness to his gaze that one couldn't deny. "You're the alpha Autumn. Not Zenith. I came from a pack where hunters started by killing the alphas- my parents, and then moved onto the rest of the pack because they were weak without them. The hunters wouldn't leave us alone because they had you. It'd just be easier for them to kill everyone- is that what you want? Is that what your parents raised you to do? To quit when it got hard?" Niko knew that what he was saying could be considered harsh- but Autumn needed to hear it. She needed to hear how fu*ked they would all be if she were to be captured. "Talk to me." Niko added in a softer voice, his large oaken colored gaze resting on the wolf's face with an air of concern.

To say he was caught off guard by all of this was an understatement, a large one at that. The shock he felt in his belly rendered him speechless while she continued on, bitterness coloring her voice sharp and cold. He didn't care? When he could finally make a noise the male made an unbelieving scoff. However, as she carried on, reaching the part where she felt he never had any time for her anymore the male lowered his gaze, feeling guilt pool in his veins. "Autumn, a lot of things have been changing recently. And most of my time isn't spent with Nydia. It's spent trying to patrol or hunt to keep this pack safe and fed. Yes, I hang out with Nydia but she's one of my friends. I worry about her just like I worry about you." He was trying to sound calm, when all he wanted to do was yell and shake some sense into Autumn. Espeically when she brought up that night. Nydia had been closer and it was obvious she was struggling to keep herself safe; and when Nikolai had looked to find Autumn it had looked like she was holding her own. And not to mention he figured Zenith would help her out.

By the time he had realize Zenith was already at the safe spot- he had gone back to help her. It wasn't like he had purposely left her there to die. And perhaps on a level he wasn't willing to acknowledge yet, he was more worried about the omega. But that's not what Autumn needed to hear. "You know harming an omega is punishable by death! She shouted, her voice cracked with raw emotion while Nikolai looked away. "Yes. But I have explained to you before that's not what I'm worried about. Hunters, starvation- there are a lot of things besides packmates I'm worried about." Nikolai tried to explain again, watching as she bustled about, lighting a fire and sitting down on the bed. He took for hanging back near the door, arms crossed over his broad chest. He honestly didn't know what to say anymore. He could explain himself until he was blue in the face; he didn't think that Autumn was really hearing him right now. About to suggest they not talk about Nydia, and if she felt he was neglecting her take this time to hang out when she spoke first; and then things made sense.

"Nikolai, look.... I really like you... as like more than a friend... I'm pretty sure that I'm in love with you.... I want you to be my mate, but you obviously would rather be with her! What am I supposed to do? Let you be my mate even though you clearly hate me?! And you would do it just to keep her safe. What did I do wrong to make you hate me?! Nikolai? Why don't you like me anymore? Please Niko... don't do this to me! Please don't betray me like this!" Her desperate somewhat hysteric plea echoed about the cabin walls while her eyes flashed, and it was clear that she was close to shifting. For a long while he said nothing just mulling over her words. His suspicions as of late had been confirmed. Autumn wanted him as her mate; to be alpha male. And she was right frankly. He would do it just to keep Nydia safe and the hunters from coming. In front of him the alpha was crying, tears dripping down her cheeks and making him feel like utter sh!t. She was right. He didn't love her; not like that. Because... At the end of the day he didn't feel the way about her that he felt about Nydia.

But saying that was just begging for her to shift and go after him. Yes he was confident that he could stave her off, but he really didn't want to fight with her. Instead a defeated, ragged sigh was drawn from his lips as he turned around, facing the fire with his back to her. It was a tired, defeated noise that was heaved from his lungs as he formulated his thoughts. "Autumn, you don't want to be with me. You know I would say yes just... Just to keep the pack safe. I see you as a close friend. A treasured friend; but not as a lover. I couldn't give you the love you need and deserve. My heart would never be in our union. I don't think you want that." Niko spoke finally, voice soft as he tried to figure out how to tell Autumn that he wasn't the mate she was looking for. "Now please, stop being silly. This doesn't mean that I hate you. This just means I love you in a platonic way. You're my alpha, my friend- and I'm sorry you've felt that I've been neglecting you. I'll try better to make sure you don't feel like that anymore."

Turning around to face the alpha he lowered his gaze and mumbled "This, our relations don't have to be love or hate. That's up to you. But Autumn I don't... I don't love you. I don't even know if I want a mate right now. Nydia or otherwise. Speaking of which, please don't take any of this out on her. It's not her fault." Into his voice had crept that hard, unmoving, protective edge. Just because he turned Autumn down he didn't want those two going at it and fighting. "This doesn't change anything. I'll still help you find your mate. I'll always be here to talk- I'll make a better effort of being available to you." However, he could see the hurt tangible and real on Autumn's face making him feel a little sick. "But this is going to have to be your choice. If you tell me that you refuse to look for another wolf what choice do I have. Because you're right, I guess you know me a little too well. I would say yes for the sake of keeping the pack, and Nydia safe from harm." He knew that all she had to do was refuse to look for another mate. Strongarm Nikki into being her's; with the knowledge that he wouldn't love her. That she'd never have his heart like that. That he'd always be pining after a certain omega. And that choice was her's to make; because when it came to protecting the pack and Nydia- he'd do anything.

The more she hollered at him, the angrier he was getting. Sure she was upset, and hurt he would give her that; but to say such hurtful things that obviously weren't true? If he wanted Nydia to be his alpha female, if he wanted to be alpha- he'd go back home to Saskatchewan territory, reassemble the descendants of the pack and start over. But he had no desire to be alpha. He was happy in the rank he was, and he couldn't be more satisfied with Nydia's current ranking as well. "I knew it. You would rather be with her than me." She accused, her voice wild with anger. And he wasn't going to lie anymore. "Yes Autumn. I would rather be with Nydia than anyone else. Is that what you wanted to hear?!" Honesty was always the best policy right? In this case however- not so much. His admittance of rather being with the alluring Omega seemed to bring about paranoia to Autumn' mind.

"I know that you left me to die. I could see it in your eyes. You wanted to be alpha with her. How could you do this to me? You know that there's no one in the pack for me. She can hold her own. She doesn't need you. She'd be better of if you were dead." At this a loud snarl of warning erupted from Nikolai's throat. How dare she question his loyalty to her? Just because he didn't want to be her mate?! And then to tell him that Nydia would be better off if he were dead? Anger seethed in his veins as he said nothing, jaw muscles twitching as he ground his teeth rather than say something regrettable. Like, if he were such a burden it would be pretty easy to ask Nydia to be his mate and head back to Canada. But he was emotionally invested in this pack. It was Nydia's home; and the more hands on deck they had to help feed everyone the better. "You're being ridiculous now. You have no right to speak for Nydia. I know you're hurting, and I'm sorry I couldn't be what you wanted- but I have never for a second wanted to rule your pack. Hasn't it occurred to you that if I wanted a pack I'd go back home?!"

At this point he was shouting right back at her glowering with his arms crossed. He couldn't believe where she got off talking to him like that. Sure he wasn't her mate, he couldn't love her- not when his heart belonged to 'Dia; but he was trying to help in his own way. He was trying to feed the pack and be there for her to talk with so that she could focus on finding a mate. But no, she was throwing a fit because Nikolai didn't love her the way she wanted him to. And then she was moving, towards the door and shoving him; hard enough that he stumbled closer to the fire. It was instinct to flail his hands out searching for something to grasp onto in order to keep from falling. And he caught himself, hand inside the hearth. A loud yelp was drawn from he stumbled backwards, hand landing close enough to the flames to be burnt. Swearing, yanking his hand back Nikolai hurriedly examined it. The skin was red, a couple blisters already but no worse than accidentally leaning your hand against a stovetop. But now, he was pissed at Autumn.

Outside a howl could be heard- Autumn's but he paid no mind. Swearing under his breath, cradling the burnt hand to his chest he marched towards the tiny bathroom; running the cold water and sticking his burnt hand beneath the water gave a small sigh of relief. Eventually the white-hot pain of being minorly burnt began to subside. Taking a deep breath to gather his bearings he reached out to Nydia, figuring she was already back at camp with the others. "Can you see if people will start to go look for Autumn. I'm done trying to help her, she can figure this sh!t out on her own." It was a private thought and one filled with bitterness. Without waiting for an answer he shut the sink off, and headed back to the main area of the cabin to put the fire out. Grumbling under his breath the male was quite ready to leave; however as he opened the door he quite literally bumped into Zenith who looked wrought with worry. "Autumn didn't get her way and took off. Alright? I'm heading back to camp. I'm done trying to talk to her."

His voice was still rough and seething with anger as he brushed past the beta. If Autumn wanted to accuse him of betrayal to the pack, to her- and then to tell him it'd be better if he just died? Well that was fine. She could hack it on her own then. Before Zenith could speak to him, the male shifted into his large wolf form taking off towards camp. The hand he burnt as a human due to her shoving him ached a little every time he used it- but it was small enough that Nikki could ignore it. The wind had picked up to an icy howl, ripping it's way through the pine trees to give the forest the illusion that it was groaning. Normally he would of stopped to admire it; but not today. Instead he just continued on his way, sullen and bitter. And by the time that he finally reached camp he noted Nydia out in the clearing helping with cleaning their dinner- a bull elk. God he'd forgotten all about the hunt. Without saying anything he was about to breeze past his packmates when a voice filtered through to him- Autumn's. "Help! Somebody please help! The hunters caught me! If you can hear me please help me! Help me or they will-"

The thought cut off there and he paused in his angry stride turning to the packmates who'd also gotten the message. Autumn was in trouble, and as much as Nikolai was tempted to be childish to act like he hadn't heard it since you know, he wanted to be alpha anyway apparently, the male hurriedly turned back to the pack. They were standing around, gaping at each other in silent horror. He supposed no one thought the hunters would be back so soon. "Alright, Autumn's in trouble. That much is obvious. I'll take all of you to the last place she was seen and we'll split into groups of two or three from there. You should know, she's upset so her scent-trail will be strong. The hunters are back. We will proceed with caution; Zenith will come up with a more detailed plan. So someone go and find him. Remember stick together. Lyric, Atticus will be one team. Zenith and Hunter another- and if the lone wolf wants to come he can tag along with them. Jake, Nydia, and I will be the other team." Nikki directed, his voice low and serious. As angry as he was with Autumn, she was his alpha and at the end of the day he and the pack would let nothing happen to her. "We're losing day time so let's go."

PERSONALITY Beneath her aloof and sometimes glacial exterior, Aislin is more sensitive and emotional than the average person. Her intuition is considerably well developed, and she applies it with mastery in her personal interactions. Indeed, Aislin tends to be passive, even a little lazy at times and is often far away in a daydream; although her faculties of observation are excellent. She is very attentive to the needs of others, but often forgets about herself. She is generally shy, and can be very touching, however she is just as capable of showing more formidable character. Aislin is discreet, modest even, to such an extent that she can appear frosty and distant. She holds her privacy dear and tends to be rather secretive, which is why Aislin is often such an enigma to those around her. Her tendency to act frosty distance is just a protective mechanism, because she is sensitive and generally feels vulnerable. If she experiences emotional upheaval, she will react by becoming withdrawn and hiding away from the world, and could even experience periods of depression. Yet she is also capable of great courage and determination if she happens to be touched by a particular cause (usually of a social nature). Aislin, is such a complex creature because she is divided between her sense of empathy and logic. Her empathetic part of her brain isn't always her first reaction to situations; but it is the one that drives her to concern for others well-being, and the one that pushes her try to come out of her shell around the pack. She can hold large streaks of scepticism, egocentricity and push her to seclude herself from those around her. On top of that, Aislin can be rather manipulative, and underneath the cool reserve, wisdom and kindness, she could have a surprise or two up her sleeve. To the surprise and sometimes disdain of her packmates Aislin can often be of a mercurial temperament. On the other hand, she has an enormous need for affection. Magic and the supernatural: the weird, wonderful and fantastic have a special place in her heart, as do tales and legends. If she suffers an emotional disappointment, she is inclined to escape into her inner world of daydreams.

HISTORY There's not too much to note. Born and raised in the Misted Woods pack, Aislin has been a pretty good child growing up. Somewhat of a pack outcast due to her aloof sort of behavior, she was never very close with many of her packmates, though secretly often yearned to be. She always had difficulty relating to her peers and often got on better with adults. Growing up, her parents would often remark that Aislin was an old soul, and that the other children of the pack would catch up to her. Her life was small, dull, and often lonely watching those around her falling in love or making friends while she went out with adults. However, her isolation mostly due to her own fault, led to her spending more time training in hunting and fighting; and by the time she was fourteen was a match for any wolf in the pack. Around her fourteenth year she began fitting in more and more with her peers. No longer did she watch the children of her pack interact, she joined in; and that gelid and aloof exterior she wore so often without realizing it began to disappear; and for the first time in a long time she was truly happy. Or so she thought. The meaning of the word happiness changed the day the pack came across a lone wolf drifting through the territory, one far from home yet hadn't lost his carefree grin- Tobi. She had been out on a patrol with the alphas and a couple other packmates when they happened across the male, wandering about. Instantaneously Aislin's world which before was gray and listless, seemed to explode with color. He was enthralling and she couldn't take her eyes off him as he was explaining why he was there and that he wanted to join the pack. When the previous alpha's told him that they were full enough and didn't need another mouth to plead- she impulsively pleaded his case; and after some consideration they agreed that he could join- granted Asa show him around and introduce him to the ropes. Those days were some of the best of her life, shirking her duties to show Tobias the best spots to hunt, or the sunniest warmest places in the territory to sleep. To be completely cheesy it was like finding a puzzle piece to herself that Aislin hadn't even realized was missing. That summer gave way to the two dating each other rather privately, due to her parent's dislike of the clownish male. However as Autumn crept into Summer's air, the pair knew that they were destined for one another and told Asa's parents. While they didn't like there wasn't much they could do. A soul bond is sacred among wolves and nothing can really stop it. Seasons came and went and the two remained close as ever. When Aislin's parents died it was Tobi that remained by her side through a deep depression, and it was Tobi that brought her back out of the shell she retreated into. To this day the two are nearly inseparable and have been doing their best to keep stability in the pack after the old alpha's passed away and Autumn ascended.
