Elixirwind yawned, her jaws opened wide, revealing a set of sharp pearly teeth and a small pink tongue. She was heavily pregnant with kits. The idea of carrying life in your belly made the ashen queen a bit uneasy.

Her eyes closed as she decided to drift off to sleep. Suddenly, a pain racked her swollen abdomen. Elixirwind ignored it at first. It came again, and she knew that she was kitting. "Idlewish!" she yowled. The two cats Elixiriwind needed was her mate and the medicine cat.

Elixirwind breathed hard, her eyes shut painfully. "I-Idlewish, get the medicine cat! They're coming! It feels horrible," The queen knew the first kit was coming. She regreted becoming pregnant for a second. Giving birth was torture.

Elixirwind wailed as the first kit started to come. But the new queen had NO idea how to give birth. Where in StarClan was the medicine cat?

Elixirwind nodded. She felt a sharp stab in her lower abdomen, and pushed. A small kit's head slid out. The queen held in her breath, digging her claws into the ground, in an effort to escape the agony. She pushed again, and out came a kit. The charcoal licked her firstborn and nudged the lilac tom to her belly. "Phoenixkit........" Elixirwind whispered. Her breath came in quick gasps as the second kit was on its way.

Sparklestream twitched her tail in agreement and started to pad back, with her catch in her jaws.

Elixirwind nodded briskly. "Thanks. I sort of get it now," she mewed. Her breathing was still laboured, but getting a bit better. However the pain was growing more intense by the second. The gray queen pushed hard and out popped a dark grey kit. She wailed as the kit was born, but the pain slowly went away for a few heartbeats. "Novakit...." Elixirwind did the same thing to her second kit as to her first.

Elixirwind smiled weakly. After a few heartbeats of labour, the third kit was born. It was a light grey one. It was small, but the queen looked at it lovingly. "How about you name it?" she asked Idlewish.

Elixirwind could feel the pain ebbing away. Another sharp pain hit her. She pushed, and out came a kit with fur the exact color as her's. Was this how she looked like when she was born? "How about Serenitykit?" Elixirwind licked the she-kit clean and let her suckle.

The queen curled around the four healthy kits. They were beautiful, and feeding steadily.
