The Current Situation

"There have been reports of disease coming from Africa. We are limited with information, but the disease seems to cause patients to become extremely hostile towards the healthy. The disease is highly contagious and infected areas have been quarantined until further notice. More information about the disease will be released soon, hopefully.

"Quarantine attempts have failed as the disease has quickly spread over the entire continent of Africa and reports of the disease are starting to come in from Europe and Asia. America has currently boycotted any trade and cut off any transportation that leads out of American soil. Let's just hope the infected can't swim...

The disease has now completely overtaken all of the Old World. America's isolation attempts seem to be working but rations are quickly disappearing. The starving country is in an outrage and people are starting to get desperate to feed their starving families. Cannibalism and murder aren't uncommon anymore and frankly it seems as if everyone turns their head the other way when someone goes missing. Damn... Just damn...

It's been almost an entire year since this horrible nightmare started. It's now in America and I'm starving and scared and... I just want it to stop. All of it. This will be my last journal entry. I can't stand this anymore, just waiting to be eaten alive. I've had this for long enough and I'm going to end it before I become one of those... Things. If you're alive out there and reading this, may God Bless you in this dark, dark world of ours.

The Symptoms

You can get infected in more ways than one. Being bitten is the most common but just getting the blood or saliva of the infected into your system is enough to do the trick. The symptoms usually start out looking like your everyday flu with vomiting, fever, same old same old. But then the eyes become red, and blood mixes with your saliva and stomach fluids. You get crippling migraines and fainting spells at the end of it before you turn. Your still alive is the scary thing though, the infection doesn't kill you. It does, however, take control of your body and cause you to attack the healthy. It takes usually days, maybe even weeks for you to turn though. If the bite's severe enough you won't even turn, you'll just die and stay dead. It seems that the infected retain their memories of when they were still considered human, however, that's not a good thing. If your husband or wife, mother or father, child or sibling, any loved one, recognizes you when they're an infected, they won't try to infect you. Instead, it's worse. They'll beat you to death. Sure they may bite you but you won't survive the bites. They'll mutilate you and torture you in the most painful ways imaginable and they won't stop until your deader than dead. That's the infection for you.

~Be mindful of how descriptive you are. Whether it's kissing or killing, nobody wants to read any of that so keep the details to a minimal. On occasion a little detail's OK but if it becomes common I will ban you from the thread with zero warning.
~That being said no power playing either. No immunity, no superpowers, and no killing others without their permission. If you have more than one character, however, expect them to die eventually. If you do choose to power play I will ban you from the thread with zero warning.
~Feel free to have a dog or whatever, but no wild animals because it's unrealistic and in order to have a pet, you must have a human. If you don't have a human you're just not signing up.
~NOTHING on the form is optional (Except for the ones with ? behind them). That means no meet him/her's and no doesn't talk about's. Also NONE of the rules are optional.
~Please don't argue with me about the rules. If you have a problem with them pm me and talk to me about it with an actual reason. I've had this issue on different sites and it's childish and what I ask is just something that's expected of you. Personality ~ Erin has a quiet, shy personality. In no ways is she even remotely considered out going and prefers to keep to herself. She's somewhat absent minded and will often forget things or say and/or do things without even realizing. Erin is usually a calm, kind person but if you get on her bad side (Which isn't hard at all), her quiet and kind personality suddenly changes to hot headed and stubborn who isn't afraid of giving you a piece of her mind. Erin is reluctant to kill an infected person, even when given no other option, and spends more time studying them than actually attacking them.
History ~ Erin grew up the youngest child with two older brothers in the state of Alabama. Her mother died in a car accident when she was two years old so Erin never felt any emotional attachment to her mother. Erin's older brothers, Joseph and Will, raised her more so than her father did who soon spiraled into a chronic depression after the death of his wife which he'd never come out of. As soon as the disease broke out Erin's older brother Will enrolled in the army as America was sending troops out to Africa at the time. Will was doing great for a while until he, like billions of other people, became infected. Erin, afraid to lose Joseph like she lost her other brother, is very defensive of him and will not hesitate to put a bullet in the skull of whoever or whatever threatens him.

Personality ~ Joseph, much like his sister, is quiet but certainly not shy. Joe has a rough personality and hard to get along with but once he gets to know you he's somewhat nicer and willing to protect you with his life. Joe is quick to anger, like Erin, but doesn't have a tendency to be violent unless you're really asking for it. Joe is protective of his sister and still silently mourns the death of his twin brother, Will.
History ~ Joseph, like his little sister Erin, grew up in the southern state of Alabama by the coast line. He spent most of his childhood with his brother Will, and hardly ever even looked at Erin while Will was the exact opposite. While Joe spent years recovering from the death of his mother, he was unphased by the death of his father. All he ever did was sulk around feeling sorry for himself before he hung himself that one night, so why should Joe care if his own father didn't? He never told Erin their father killed himself, however. She was still too young to understand and didn't want to be bombarded by questions. It didn't seem to matter to Erin anyway though. She just shrugged it off like it was no big deal. When word of Will's passing reached Joe's ear, he was devasted. So was Erin, of course, but Joseph's family seemed to be crumbling away and there wasn't a thing he could do to stop it. Since this, he swore to himself that he would protect Erin no matter what, and make sure that she didn't end up like the rest of their family.

Unlike her brother, she was adversely affected by the bombs. She became deaf. She doesn't speak well and she can't sign language so she just stopped talking unless it's something important. Nicole can, however, read lips so she's very capable of understanding what other's are saying.

ρєяѕσηαℓιту:Aaron is pretty much the exact opposite of his little sister, Nicole. He's a hot headed, stubborn man but has a soft spot for Nicole and rarely leaves her side. He's a bit hard to get along with at the very least (Even Nicole thinks so) and he also takes things too seriously at times (Which gets him into more trouble than it should) but his heart's in the right place which is pretty good given the circumstances.

Personality: Torrent is a quiet dragon who prefers to keep to himself. He's also somewhat timid but his personality can quickly go violent and stubborn if you anger him. He usually takes everything too seriously and that usually causes things to end badly for him.
Kin: Torrent has none.
Mate/Crush/Hatchlings: None at the moment / He's open to it / He's open to it
Other: Physically adapted to the aquatic world, he does poorly outside of the water which is why he prefers the dampness of a cave. Torrent is a small and flightless dragon but while he lacks wings, he gains fins that allow him to reach super sonic speeds in the water. If he goes an extended period of time without water, he quickly weakens and ultimately he dies. To go longer outside of the water, he's gained a thick, toxic slime that completely covers his body that serves to both hydrate and defend himself.

Personality ~
Pero is a playful and mischievous dragon who often does things that can only be described as strange (And stupid at times). Even though he's "strange", he's a very loyal and gentle dragon (But stubborn as a mule too). He sometimes doesn't even think he's a dragon and thinks that he's a human like Jazz.
Special Abilities? ~
Pero is most at home in the cold and ice and he usually uses that as a weapon. In weather warmer than 90 degrees, he slowly weakens to the point where he can't even fly and then ultimately he'll just die. His scales are ice cold to the touch and kinda feel like your touching a frozen pole.

Done and done

The egg was ice cold to the touch, even though the surrounding area was much, much warmer than the surface temperature of the egg. Immediately upon being disturbed, the egg glowed slightly before jerking towards the girl in a response to the poke. It didn't stay lit for long, only a split second but when it did the silhouette of a small dragon could be just barely visible as the egg slowly moved back into place.

The egg remained still for a minute or two, unresponsive but still cold. Then the egg jerked suddenly and a small crack formed on the top of the egg. It jerked again the crack grew and grew again until there was a hole on the top but nothing happened for a while after that. It was dark and there was fog as if there were dry ice inside so nothing was clearly visible inside of it for a while until a small, white, reptilian head pushed it's way through.

The dragon took a moment to answer. Pero was staring off at the trees, hardly paying any attention to the girl. It was all so... green. It amazed and excited Pero and as much as he wanted to go off exploring, his attention somehow turned back to the girl before he had a chance to unfold his wings. Pero blinked and remained unresponsive for a moment longer before uttering a single word. "Pero." It was strange though, as his lips didn't move and mouth remained shut and still.

"Oh no," Was all Pero could say when he saw the carnage left behind after the fire. Spreading his wings, he flew over the rubble and quickly and hurriedly dug around in it, looking for any sign of human life but there was nothing. Not even a body was left in the ruins, just ashes and rubble.

Pero flew up into the air again when he realized Jazz had ran off. He had no problems keeping up to the small child and when she sat down he soon landed and curled up around her neck. He didn't say anything though, not sure if he should say anything.

Kristin was one of the children in the group and was shifting her weight from her heel to her toes and then back again. She was pretty excited as this was the first time she was going to an actual school with actual children. Her father was a great teacher and all, but she just felt more excited than she ever had in a long time. She then reached up and held her father's hand who was standing behind her and smiled up at him.

Mathew couldn't help but smile back at Kristin. She was taking this better than he had expected so that's one good thing about this... But to be truthfully honest he just hoped the school wouldn't force them to separate. Mathew didn't see why they would but he still wasn't sure. He had only heard about this place on the grapevine and considering he had a doctorate in teaching he would be allowed to stay with his daughter at this school.
