Here's why:
Dustpelt's has a strong but sharp attitude like Tigerstar
Both the toms are described as big dark brown tabbies with amber eyes
When cats get too old they cannot produce babies, which since Redtail was not his mentor, Dustpelt's father would either have to be Lionheart or Tigerstar or Whitestorm, however, Dustpelt resembles Tigerstar the most out of the three
Tigerstar being Dustpelt's father could easily explain why he had such an influence over him
Even if he isn't, I like the idea!
