about&&the plot

It all began in January of 2013. At first, it was a few isolated incidents, random disappearances occurring in various towns scattered across America. At first, police shrugged it off as simple runaway cases; however, a pattern began to form. These vanishings involved two types of teenagers: extremely well put together individuals or rebellious troublemakers with a lack of morals. No matter what city or state a teenager lived in, if they fit this criteria, they would be far from safe.
Months have passed since these mysterious disappearances have began; however, the nation’s police force still has no lead. All of these vanishings have one thing in common: there is no solid evidence to what happened. People have come up with conspiracies blaming: aliens, the government, and foreign countries. None of them know the truth.
To say that the teenagers are safe would be far from the truth. In reality, the have all been relocated to an undisclosed location and are living in a high-security compound in the middle of highly forested area. Even though the detainees are sheltered and provided for, their lives remain at stake every single day.
The compound is run by an organization called Abandonment. Abandonment is run by The Master, who lives in a cabin just outside of the compound. Abandonment’s purpose is to provide websites with footage of brutal competition between teenagers. By selling their footage, Abandonment makes a ton of quick cash; however, the competition recorded is highly brutal, and would be illegal if tracked by the authorities.
As stated earlier, Abandonment only takes two different types of teenagers: the most well-behaved successful ones and the ill-mannered rebellious ones. In the program, there are two sub-sections: The Corrected and The Correctable. The Corrected are the supposed role models of the program, people for The Correctable to watch and learn from. In addition to this purpose, The Corrected are being tested to see if they are completely fit for outside society. On the other hand, The Correctable are the rowdy, irresponsible bunch. Through intense activities and supervised living, Abandonment believes that they have to ability to fix these troubled teens’ behavior. If they are not successful in this asset, Abandonment just kills them off - plain and simple.
The Master has set up surveillance cameras all throughout the compound, allowing for a twisted reality TV show of sorts. These cameras record everything the detainees do, as well as allow The Master to check up on them. You do not want to make The Master angry, or there will be dire consequences involved.
Each week, The Master requires all detainees to proceed in competition, which occasionally will result in death. These events are known as The Abandonment Games. When these events occur, The Master tends to lighten up, as he knows his clients enjoy watching the footage of the teens suffering. It is easiest to take advantage of The Master during these times.
As a detainee at the Abandonment compound, one can interact with other inmates, as well as frequent the rest of the premises. The compound is seven square miles in area, and remains fenced off by an electric fence. There have been no successful escapes from the Abandonment compound.

-master's house
This is where The Master resides when he is not supervising the events occurring inside Abandonment property. Inside, there is a master computer with all of the footage from the surveillance cameras scattered all over the compound. The property is under extremely high security, and is located over a mile away from the boundaries of Abandonment. When a detainee isn’t cooperating, The Master takes them back to his home, then they are never seen again.
-the trails
As demonstrated by the map, various trails scatter the compound, allowing for easier transportation between different locations. These trails are the safest and most efficient way of getting place to place. Safety is not guaranteed if you decide to stray, for there are some unpleasant surprises lurking in the foliage. All Abandonment officials are aware of these trails, and they encourage you to use them. You wouldn’t want to make The Master angry, would you?
-the lake
The lake takes up a decent portion of the Abandonment property; there are a plethora of different things to do at this location. Here, detainees can swim, fish, spend time at the beach, row, and hike. Canoes are available to the detainees at the Docks. When The Master doesn’t require the presence of a detainee, they may spend time here. There are several secluded areas where the detainees may have some alone time at this location.
The arena is where the games take place, a new spot every month. This month's is in Siberia, deadly cold forests and landscapes.
The Outer Forest, as signaled by it’s name, is located on the outside of Abandonment property. Very few individuals have lived to see these woods, so we recommend you don’t try to sneak a peak. The forest here is mangled, untamed, and dark. It’s truly nature at its prime. There are no trails located here, and the dense foresting allows little sunlight to shine under the layer of trees. To make things even worse, it’s rumored that dangerous animals roam there. It’s a good thing that Abandonment fence is there to protect you, right?

To be blunt, Jackson is never exactly the person he claims to be. Living as a single child with his single father, Jackson could act pretty much however he chose to, considering his father was hardly around to supervise. Mr. Porter, a renowned businessman, was expected to travel quite frequently for his job, which caused the family unit to move around a lot. More often than not, Jackson would only spend a semester or less at a certain school before being forced to move. This made is quite difficult for him to obtain full credits, which is why he was still in high school at the age of nineteen.
Whenever the Porter family moved, Jackson would always develop the most suitable persona to obtain babes. One school, he could be the total sweetheart; at another, he could be the rebellious badboy. As long as he got laid, he would maintain the persona. This is why he must be corrected.
Personality
Very few people know Jackson’s true personality, as he prefers to cover it up with personas in order to manipulate people. Underneath his various aliases is a sharp-witted mastermind, surely smarter than average. It’s very rare that you would just see him as that individual though

Lana didn’t grow up in the most desirable of households. Stuck with her single father and two younger sisters, Lana practically had to raise herself. Raised in Elkhart City, Indiana, Lana was practically invisible in a town with more than 50,000 people. She was just an average face in a town full of average faces. There was nothing about her that stood out.
By the time that Lana had been through two years of high school, she began to slowly realize how depressed she truly was. Living without a mother is especially difficult, especially when you know that she’s somewhere out the in the world. Lana felt abandoned, and betrayed. In order to cover up her feelings, Lana began to drink obsessively. By the time she reached the age of 15, she was pretty much an acute alcoholic. This is why she must be corrected.
Personality
Lana may be quite sad on the inside; however, she doesn’t like to let that show. Most often, she keeps her anger and depression penned up inside of her, and releases it while nobody is around. She has an addictive personality; once she’s hooked onto something, it’s quite difficult for her to stop. Overall, Lana keeps to herself and tends to stay quiet in social situations; however, if you make her angry, her sharp wit will leave you dumbfounded.

Ethan has always been that one kid that everyone’s parents automatically love. Coming from Eugene, Oregon, Ethan was used to living in a fairly expansive city, as the town contained over 100,000 residents. There were several high schools scattered across the city; however, Ethan was well known at each and every one for his excessive talent in lacrosse.
See, Ethan could’ve took advantage of his popularity and his skill set, but instead decided not to. Mr. Lacrosse Star over here spent his Friday nights partying, alone in his room to Led Zeppelin while finishing his online chemistry homework. Ethan made a distinct decision to ignore the temptations of the high school popularity system, and instead focused his energy on school. That is why he must be tested, to see if he has been completely corrected in spite of his other opportunities.
Personality
Ethan is the type of guy you can go to to talk about pretty much anything. He’s a great listener, and sincerely cares about how other people are feeling. Considering he’s quite well-known in his hometown, it’s surprising that Ethan hasn’t developed an ego of any sorts. He’s down to Earth and one of the most genuine dudes you’ll ever meet.

Camdyn’s reckless, as she’ll do almost anything to achieve her next high, whether it’s from drugs or adrenaline. She’s extremely adventurous and enjoys experiencing the different aspects of life. She’s a very curious individual, and she comes off quite peculiar. Once you get to know her, you’ll come to realize it’s simply her wild child personality.

She has a large ego, and believes that the world pretty much revolves around her. If you fail to please her, she’ll throw a hissy fit. Britt has a queen bee mentality. If you fail to fall in line, you will surely regret it.

As her parents became more and more renown, Heather’s life was swept up in fancy dinner parties and elegant ballroom dances. Even though she was living the dream, she never let it get to her head. She was untainted by the glorious lifestyle that was bestowed onto her. This is why she must be tested, to see if she has been completely corrected, despite the opportunities open to her.

Heather’s a quiet kid. Being homeschooled all of her life, Heather honestly didn’t have too many friends, causing her social skills to suffer. She tends to be quite awkward in social situations, considering she doesn’t know any better. If she’s not sticking to herself, she’s associating herself with another quiet kid.

Shawn has always had it all: the music talent, the looks, and the personality. Growing up in a fairly small town, Shawn had a reputation for being that talented kid who was going places in life. Highland, Kansas was the place he called home, and a majority of the 1,012 people living there knew his name.
With a gift in guitar playing, the teenager frequented coffeehouses and local venues, playing for the people of his town, who soon grew to love him. High on this quick joyride caused by his recent burst in popularity, Shawn made a decision, and a dumb one at that. He decided that it would be appropriate to flunk out of high school to pursue a career in music. This is why he must be corrected.
Personality
For the most part, Shawn’s a sweet kid with his heart in the right place. He likes to do what makes other people happy, even if it’s not necessarily the smartest thing to do. His favorite thing in the world is pleasing others; he would do anything to make someone smile. There’s not a mean bone in the kid’s body.

A broken boy from a broken home from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Drew has just peaked into adulthood, and hasn’t even considered what to do with his life. Coming from a past with abuse, drugs and alcohol, it’s safe to say it runs in the Marlett family. Drew would almost drink himself into a coma every week, hoping to drown out the memories of a dark childhood.
You know that weird kid who played with worms and bugs instead of action figures and video games? That was Drew. He was always afraid to defend himself against childhood bullies, but not anymore. Nowadays he’s known for his harsh behaviour and reckless actions. Getting high for cheap was his speciality, he could lie to anybody, and not feel any shame. Which is why he needs to be corrected.
Personality
Drew has an explosive personality. He suffers from severe PTSD and anger issues. He shuts everyone out, and keeps himself cloaked in his own thoughts, rarely sharing them with anybody, because last time he did, they almost sent him away.

Piper Donovan is the girl everyone strives to be, one way or another. She’s the girl your parents would compare you to as a child, “Why can’t you be more like Piper?" was a common saying in their home town, Devils Lake, North Dakota. It was either you loved Piper, or you hated Piper. She’s musically gifted, has a genius IQ, all the boys pined after her. But Piper was well aware of her talents, and mentally put herself in a higher ranking than the others.
Piper’s not full of herself, but she knows that she has talents, but doesn’t flaunt it in people’s faces, she mainly does it in her head. But every once in a while she’ll have an outburst at the nearest people standing by, so watch out, she’s ticking time bomb, which is why she needs to be tested, to see if she’s been corrected.
Personality
Piper’s arrogant, but in a classy way - if that’s even possible. She likes things to be organized and up to her unmistakeably high standards. But she can be fun, sometimes, you just have to catch her at the right mood, which is rare.

He’s got the world in front of him, and doesn’t even know it. So, what’s the catch? No matter where Jason goes, he just can’t seem to make friends. Maybe he’s too perfect for anyone.
Jason grew up in Milwaukee, Missouri, a large city full of possibilities. Out of the 594,833 people that live there, Jason’s friend list still remains at a zero. But, that doesn’t matter here, we’re only looking for who fits our criteria of the Corrected, and he’s exactly what we need.

Jason sometimes pushes himself too far for his own good. Although he seems cool, calm, and collected, which he is 95% of the time, but put him in a social situation, and he’s stuck. He’d be an easy going guy if he wasn’t so involved with his studies, and college application forms. Which is why he needs to be tested, to see if he’s really been corrected.

Katie is a beach bum; there’s nothing more to it. Born and raised in Huntington Beach, California, Katie has always been near the ocean. Both of her parents are lawyers, resulting in great influxes of money to the Davis household. Katie lived the dream; she was rich and lived walking distance from the ocean. She was more than happy with the way things were.
Considering the fact that both of her parents were working over ten hours a day, Katie had quite a bit of alone time in that luxurious beach house of hers. During those hours she was supposed to be home alone, Katie would more than often have boys frequenting her house. C’mon, who wouldn’t want to hook up with the hot, rich, surfer chick? Her scandalous schedule interfered with her quality of work at school and in her surfing competitions. This is why she must be corrected.
Personality
More than anything, Katie is easy-going, almost to the extent that she’s a pushover. It’s easy to walk all over Katie, as she’ll do almost anything to please anyone. This often leads her to be used by guys, something that she wishes she could change about herself. Essentially, she’s the type of girl you want to get to know; however, you almost feel bad for her once you get to know her.

Kellie has always been the center of attention, no matter where she was or what she was doing. Growing up in a small town of merely 265 residents, Kellie knew everyone and everyone knew Kellie. Being a single child, her parents focused all of their attention and money on her, resulting in reckless, irresponsible behavior. Kellie was one of those rich kids who didn’t give a shit about anything.
Hailing from Agra, Kansas, Kellie attended the only local high school in her area. There, she was notorious for being one of those girls who didn’t really do anything; however, still managed to gain popularity because of her looks. Quite often, you could find the teenager in the next town over, drunk off her ass at some stranger’s house. Kellie was a notorious partier, something that is non beneficial to our society. This is why she must be corrected.
Personality
Brash, irresponsible, impolite: these are all words that describe Kellie over here. Kellie doesn’t respond to being ordered around too well, as she’s used to being the queen bee. She’s often looked up to as a leader, as she doesn’t like to follow anyone else’s rules. She’s reckless; however, she’s not rebellious. She only makes decisions if it benefits herself, for she could care less about how others feel.
