Hawkpaw walked in and lied down in her nest, which happened to be next to Marshpaws. "Hi, how is everyone I heard a ghost strory at the gathering do you mind if i tell one?Hawkpaw meowed excitedly followed by a yawn

"Once when the four clans had started coming together, a tom named Darkstep. He was a like any other warrior. He had the strength of a tiger and bravery of a lion, and would protect even the oldest of elder from battle. But he wanted to become deputy, but the current deputy was strong, and so was their leader. Darkstep thought the only way he could prove he should be deputy was to do something so brave that the leader would have to give him the spot. One day, he was listening in to their medicine cat, Hallowtree, talking to their leader.'Fogstar, I had an odd dream…' Hallowtree said.Fogstar peered at their medicine cat. 'What it is, Hallowtree? Will it affect the clan?'Hallowtree looked down at his paws. 'I do not know. It was dark and the fog was dense. But it had red eyes, and it was bigger than a fox! Starclan said Creeping in the dark, that which saves his own will perish.'Fogstar huffed, clawing at the ground with her claws. 'This is not good, Hallowtree. At least we can try to figure out what this creature out. I will send out a patrol tomorrow at dawn.'Hearing his leader's plan, Darkstep decided that night he would go and fight the unknown creature on his own, and that would make him deputy! As night crept over, Darkstep made his way out of camp through the side entrance and quickly started to search the forest.
As it grew later into the night Darkstep found nothing, and as he made his way back to camp mist started to roll around his feet, gathering around his body and soon covering him, and the forest around him. Startled Darkstep started to run back to camp, but the mist turned to fog and followed him, covering his eyes. He couldn't see anything in front of him. Darkstep stopped his heart racing and blood pounding in his ears. A low growl shook from behind him.Warily Darkstep turned around, only to see a large, hunching shadow and bright red eyes staring at him. He gasped, his bravery now gone. His mind told him to run and run fast, but his legs were stuck to the dirt floor. The growl came again, and the creature moved forward. It was dog-like, but with the brightest white pelt he had ever seen. Black surrounded its muzzle and down its chest. Eyes of fire stared at him as it huffed, its fur moving with each movement. Muscles rippled, and Darkstep felt sick at the sight of a long gash on the animal's shoulder, showing down to the bone.Knowing this animal would hurt his clan, Darkstep gathered a small amount of courage, and sprang, his jaw clamping into the animals chest. Using his claws he dug into the thing's pelt, and stuck like a thorn in his paw.Darkstep could feel the howl that animal let loose vibrate through its chest to his body, its snarl was wicked and cruel sounding as it flashed back and forth. The animal shook him off, and Darkstep hit a tree. Getting up, both of them fought. Darkstep knew that he couldn't stop fighting, no matter how weak he became he jumped back. This animal would harm his clan if he didn't. His mate counted on him.White fur flashed towards him, and Darkstep leapt up, snaring his claws into its throat, and the animal let off a choking sound as the air left from it. Darkstep was shaken back and forth, but it grew slower as the animal gasped for breath. Blood was trickling down its leg from its wound. But the animal would not go down with a fight. With a final heave it threw Darkstep against the tree, and fell to the ground.Darkstep fell, too. His neck had been snapped when he hit the tree.He was re-named Howlstrike in his honor. But some say he never made it to Starclan, for they say they saw his brown tabby pelt with the familiar white patch on his shoulder walking around the forest. The only difference was you could see the forest through him, and fog paw prints were left in his wake"Hawkpaw meowed feeling proud of how good her story was

Hawkstar purred with amusement. "Looks like someone is anxious! We will now hold the Med. cat apprentice ceremony."Hawkstar meowed
