♫ The truth is like a lie ♫

Remember in your third year of high school when you use to boast to the first and second year students about becoming something big after graduating from high school? Unfortunately you were struck with bad luck. You failed the entrance exams to the college/university you planned on attending, ultimately being marked as a ronin (a Japanese term to describe someone who fails the university entrance exams and has to try again next year). Not to mention your parents kicked you out of the house so you were forced to move into a danchi (the Japanese word for a cluster of apartments that are extremely cheap to live in) and while some of the neighbors are oddballs, the tenants are friendly. Now you have to find a job to pay for your personal needs and the rent, thankfully you got accepted into a manga company in Tokyo called Koi Kouji.

♫ Attack Hyper Beat Pop ♫

Koi Kouji itself is divided up into different departments; floors 28-30 are off limits to regular employees (the executive bathrooms are on those floors) and the rest of the floors depend on which genre of manga you're appointed to, each area also seems to have different environments. The action and horror department is the most lively department, its full of childish otakus who enjoy scaring the living delights out of each other, finger football, pretending to be in epic gun fights, etc. Departments that deal with manga like Shoujo or Romance tend to be a bit more focused and serene, some are even noted to be perfectionist. Though it doesn't matter which apartment you've been assigned to, everyone in Koi Kouji seems to be an oddball, some even come to work in cosplay or decorate their cubicle with all sorts of posters ranging from Idol groups to ecchi. The company even promotes exercise in the morning to wake up the minds of sleepy workers and to keep workers in shape.

    ♫ Brand new Day ♫

Don't be so quick to judge your new job, its actually quite refreshing minus the random outburst of singing or occasionally dancing to the cute music played over the intercom. You get to meet famous and novice mangaka (the Japanese word for those who draw manga); you get to read new manga editions that aren't even out yet and for those striving to becoming a mangaka, perhaps some of the clients themselves will take you on as an apprentice or recommend you to an art college or manga school that they studied at (yes, manga schools do exist). After work ends the older employees and those above 20 often go out to bars to drink together(btw the drinking age in Japan is 20).

♫ Melody of the Wild Dance ♫

Magic has been passed down from generation to generation in families or either granted by other magic users such as witches or obtained by magical items that give the user powers, and while some naïve mortals see it as blessing, in reality its a curse. And because some magic users use their powers for evil deeds, mortals have come to hate those who harbor the mysterious powers and have burned those at the stake who are suspected to be witches or sorcerers (the technical names for magic users). For parents who discover their child's powers, but can't bare the thought of seeing their own flesh and blood burned to death or hung in public, send them to Magi Magnolia Academy -"The Academy for the Gifted"- where they'll be safe and be able to interact with others who were also cursed with magical powers.

♫ We are gifted just by being humans ♫

Magi Magnolia Academy is a giant academy hidden deep in the woods by a magical barrier that humans and magic users are unable to penetrate or see. The school itself is divided up into three separate schools and while they function independently, they're shown to have the ability to come together for school wide events and emergencies. Here are the following schools within the academy; Lacrimosa -the Elementary division-, Resonance -Junior High division-, and Aria -the High school division-. There are also four dorm buildings; two for boys and two for girls. Each dorm building has its own dorm parent (a dorm father for boys and a dorm mother for girls) and students are expected to respect the dorm parent; four students will share a dorm, students will have the same dorm room until they graduate and decorating dorm rooms are permitted. Despite being an academy that's centered around magic, the school does provide clubs that have absolutely nothing to do with magic such as Anime club or Art club. The school also provides sports team that compete with other teams from different dimensions including the underworld. (pretty epic, huh?)

♫ Love before we die ♫

Resonance and Aria are the only two school divisions that will participate in slaying rouge demons and terrifying monsters that are notorious for lurking in the woods that engulf the giant academy. The students will be divided into teams of four or five, each team will have a name and a symbol to represent them as well as a leader, and they are able to go missions that'll be posted on the MMA Mission board in the main hallway, but they'll have to be accompany by an upperclassman (third year student) or a teacher to prevent death. The missions have different ranks depending on the difficulty to carry it out; S being the highest rank and D being the lowest/easiest rank. S class missions are only for third year students in the Aria Division for they have more experience dealing with demon and creatures of that caliber, although these missions are posted on a different board in a different area to prevent any students from mistakenly accepting the mission. Though its noted that regular missions have scarred some students for life; seeing teammates die on the battle field have traumatized them and inhaling the scent of blood of a freshly slayed creature has made them stick to their stomach, but only few students have experienced this.

Moe Yamasaki, a twenty-five year old dark-skinned editor of the Action departments, dropped her bag on the floor next to her feet and plopped down on the office chair with a plastic bowl of ramen noodles. "The noodles in the morning is so good!" Moe slurped up the mass of noodles and chugged down the spicy soup; the company was suppose to be getting new employees, Moe was curious to know who they were. "The boss must have his hands full with the interviews, hopefully we get some new people here."

The receptionist slowly looked up him with her sharp dark brown eyes and pointed at the elevator with her silver nail filer. "The 30th floor is your destination and its the door all the way at the end of the hallway. Even if the assistant let's you speak with the boss, knock before you enter his office. He'll go ballistic if you don't and trust me, do you don't want to see him made, none of us wants that." The woman went back to filing her nails, waiting for the phone to ring.

The receptionist glanced up at Sakai and pointed to the elevator. "If you're here for the interview then please head to floor 30." She continued to file her nails; Mr. Kouji sprinkled some fish food into the large fish tank, home to three kōhaku fish. He heard the knock at the door and quickly sat back down at his desk. "You may enter." He said, loud enough for Kanda to hear.

Mr. Kouji glanced at Sugawara apologetically before standing up and shaking Kanda's hand. "Nice to meet you Mr. Tadayuki! Do you mind if you step outside for a bit? I need to finish up with my good friend, Suga." The cheerful middle-aged man said. "I do apologize for that, Suga. My assistant has been out for a while now and she's usually in charge of my meetings, interviews, and other important things my old brain can't keep track of." He turned on the intercom and played some music for employees to start the small exercising session. "Now, where were we?"

    ♫ In my heart's a Fortune Cookie ♫

4 Seasons is a talent agency located in Osaka, Japan and at the moment its the third most joined agency that singers and actors are signed to. Its known to have the best idol groups, boy bands, the most talented actors, spectacular dancers, etc. 4 Seasons attracts all sorts of young talented individuals and exploits their talent resulting in the individual becoming famous both in Japan and other parts of Asia; like regular agencies, the individual must sign a contract (depending on their age, their parents must look over it and agree to the conditions), and they must go through training depending on which genre their taking on (soloists don't have to go through any training unless voluntarily). And like every other agency, any scandals will result in the star becoming demoted to a trainee or being removed from the agency immediately unless it can be argued or sued through court.

    ♫ Speaking of Romance... ♫

Unfortunately Idol Groups and Boy Bands are unable to date; being in a relationship seems to ruin the purity of idols and since people of all ages admire them, agencies forbid their idols from dating (this isn't made up by the way, this is actually real, Japanese Idol Groups such as AKB48 and Morning Musume are signed to agencies that won't allow dating so its not made up). When an idol is on a date and he/she lets their guard down, a paparazzi will snap pictures in secrecy and post them up in magazines and even the internet until it spreads like wild fire, if the agency is unable to deny the accusations then idols will either be demoted to a trainee or simply removed from the agency. Luckily soloist, bands of different genres, and actors are able to date although this is discouraged to prevent future scandals. But this doesn't seem to stop some stars from being with their true love; they're willing to risk their career for someone they love and care about deeply.

    ♫ There's no one like you ♫

Depending on which genre or career you're tackling, there's a certain amount of training that you must go through, but soloists aren't required to go through any training unless voluntarily. Actors and voice actors are required to take acting lessons to hone their skills before debuting in dramas or anime/cartoon shows. Idol groups and boy bands are required to do either a year or two of training, though most of the time it depends on the individuals with in the group. For example if all the members in an idol group are fast learners, powerful singers, and good at memorizing a script then they'll debut early. (But groups with members that are under twelve years old, must undergo more training until that individual is a certain age to debut or later add him or her into the group). Though despite all the training the members are receiving, students in school are encouraged to continue to do their school work.

    ♫ Love so Sweet ♫

Whether you're a member of an idol group or a soloist, its mandatory to guest star on talk shows, act in movies/TV shows, and, of course, preform in different countries outside of Japan (unless there's an issue involving public appearances on TV or if an individual isn't too skilled with acting then its not required). Its also encouraged that members have their own blogs such as Iikubo Haruna from Morning Musume and have their own radio station like Kudou Haruka from Morning Musume. Modeling is also another major factor of boosting an individuals popularity and fandom; members of 4 Seasons will participate in photos shoots for magazines to advertise items and designer clothing made by popular designers, or for other reasons, such as the cover of their upcoming album. (Idol groups and Boy bands will mainly participate in game shows and hand shaking events).

Mr. Hamasaki -the teacher of the class Baozhai is currently in- instructed the students to clean off the silver counter tops before the warning bell rang, signaling that all students should hurry to class. He was a strict teacher and he decided not to wait for those who are late. "For those who may not know me I am Mr. Hamasaki and I'm one of the worst teacher's you'll have here in Ageda Academy, but enough about me, for todays assignment I want all of you to make a dish for me. Unfortunately for all of you, you won't be using my ingredients, you'll have to find your own ingredients on campus. I am aware that the Jupiter Dormitory has its own garden and chickens, that area is off limits for everyone. You have a fifteen minutes to find and bring back your ingredients and another thirty minutes to prepare and cook your dishes. You'll present your dishes to me ten minutes before class is over. Santiago and Etsuko will be watching over the garden so if any of you sneak in there, they'll let me know." He placed a timer on the counter in front of him. "You may begin!" Without a second thought all of the students, including Baozhai, left the classroom in search of ingredients.
