This cat was confident in himself, she would give him that. However she wouldn't let herself be goaded into making the first move of that she was sure. Asterpaw snorted, rolling her eyes once again at his suggestion that she, could you believe it? her!, was too afraid to go up against him. "If you say so." Asterpaw mewed lazily, standing up once again and taking a few paces closer to Bioshock never losing the easy grace she was moving with for a second. "And you keep telling yourself how great you are. I wonder if you'll still be saying that when we're done and I win. "
Ah, there was nothing better than competitive competition. Aster paused when she was barely a tail length away from him and grinned "So what are ya waiting for?"
(Yes. X3 She's a bit overconfident in herself too.)
-
She anticipated the direct attack. She saw it, as Bioshock lowered himself back onto his haunches and the minute twitch of his tail as he prepared to pounce. As such, by the time his paws hit the ground again where she had formerly been standing she had already darted aside and turned to face him, eyes narrowed in both a mixture of challenge and concentration. Asterpaw had barely began to think out his next move when he came charging at her again, darting to the left. Asterpaw reared up onto her hind legs as she did, planning on bringing both of her forepaws down on his shoulder and knock Bioshock off balance.
But when he rushed underneath her, claws snagging through her belly fur she was surprised. That she hadn't expected. Thrown off her paws the apprentice landed awkwardly on her side, rolling up onto all fours as quickly as she went down. With a soft growl, barely audible she turned to face Bioshock who was standing a few paces away. So he's bigger than me and fast. Means I have to be faster.
With this thought in mind Aster paused considering Bioshocks chest as though she planned to ram into him at full speed. Darting in towards the tom she lashed out a paw hoping to connect rather forefully to his right side before skidding to a halt behind him.

At the yowl, Asterpaws head popped up from where it had been currently resting on her paws as she lounged about in camp. Excitement sparked the young cats gaze and she shot Charmingthoughts a pleading look. "Can I come?"
-
Asterpaw gave a short nod and followed after her mentor though at a much more rapid pace. It was strange how just a few minutes ago she had been bemoaning her lack of training and always being confined in camp and now here she was about to embark on a very important expedition to Windclan. She wondered what the Windclan cats were like and grinned as a myriad of possibilities passed through her mind. Glancing up, Aster saw that her wandering thoughts had led her to fall behind and so she picked up the pace as she followed Wolfstar back to camp.
-
It had been quite an experience for Asterpaw, the trek across Thunderclan territory and to the border with Windclan. Everything about the moorland had excited her as strange as the tree-less plain exposed to the Green-leaf sky had been. The light, somewhat earthy scent of the heather was still as strong to her now as it had been when they had actually been out on the moorland. Now she took a quick glance about the Windclan camp, her ears perked and body taut with interest. A quick look towards her clanmates showed that they were all sitting down in front of the leaders den and remembering Wolfstars earlier words she quickly followed suit, sitting beside Crackerjaw on her mentors left side and curling her tail around her paws.
Though she tried to sit as still and patient as the older cats...and dog Asterpaw couldn't help her fidgeting every now and again.
-
{OC: Bump?}
Asterpaw waited for a counterattack.
-
Well, that was just great. The apparent leader of Windclan had arrived and her first order of business had been to kick her out. Not fair! She had wanted to know what exactly this whole visit had been about. Never the less Asterpaw stood, leveling a curious stare on Nimblestar and giving a nod before her attention flicked over to Wolfstar. If the Windclan leader wanted her to leave, that was fine although she was waiting for some kind of acknowledgement from her own leader. After a moments hesitation Aster turned and slipped out of the den, plopping herself down right outside the entrance. Though she couldn't see what was going on she should be able to hear it.
-
Asterpaw glanced quizzically at the Windclanner who had followed them out of the den. There went her plans for subtle ease-dropping from the entrance. Though she was practically overflowing with questions, his presence made her unsure on whether she should ask them or just stick to being quiet. It wasn't like she had anything to be afraid of, anyway.
Aster turned to Bloomingflower. "You're a Lionguard, aren't you? Have you ever been here before?" She meant with permission, of course.
-
Asterpaw had been drawn by all the yowling and at the mentions of a contest-to see who was the most talented apprentice in different categories made her tail curl over her back in delight and her whiskers twitch. She bounced through the fairly small gathering of cats and came to a stop beside a kit, Frogkit- she thought- who she had seen about camp and recognized as the son of Wolfstar.
Hey kid. Asterpaw mewed, flicking her tail along Frogkits shoulder briefly. Being unusually small she was barely a shoulder taller than the kit. "What's up with the frog?""
-
Oh thank Starclan that she was gone! Asterpaw gave a small snort as she sat in the middle of her clanmates, gazing up at her mentor as he gave his announcement to the clan. She knew she should probably be feeling guilty and having some regret about the disappearance of their co-leader, but she wasn't all that fond of Haushinka...or fond of her at all- and that last stunt that had cost Wolfstar a life hadn't given the she-cat another point in her book.
As for the other announcements, they made her perk her ears in curiosity but it wasn't like it was a giant deal. A little bit of minor clan altering, but that was okay. As the great tabby that was Wolfstar stood like he was awaiting comments from him clan Aster flinched as a sudden thought struck her. I didn't know that Haushinka was mates with a Bloodclan cat! Is that even allowed? Wasn't it just the littlest bit odd that the she-cat had vanished after a stunt that made her a little less popular with the clan AND she had alliances with a rival clan? Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this could spell trouble?
Hesitantly, the cream-furred cat rose half to her paws and opened her mouth. "Hey, Wolfstar?" a heartbeat later she sat back down, brow-furred. If she did speak her mind she would be making a serious accusation against a clanmate...former clanmate and a cat who was much older than her her former leader. Maybe she best keep her mouth shut on this one. Asterpaw shifted uncomfortably and then stared down at her paws. "Nevermind."
-
For a few minutes, she just stared moon-eyed and jaw hanging open. I must be losing my mind... Asterpaw leaned closer to the frog, close enough for her whiskers to graze against the strange skin of his back before she turned incredulous eyes back to Frogkit. Have I got thistledown for brains now or did that frog-you- she intercepted with a glance at the creature...Prince Nathan?- " Just talk to me?"
-
Asterpaw narrowed her eyes at the little creature, unsure whether she should be offended or not and considering reminding him that even small as she was she was nearly ten times his size, and had claws, before a purr tumbled in her throat. "That's true enough, Prince Nathan" she grinned and whisked her tail for emphasis "But- a frog! I've never had a frog speak to me before! You know Shadowclan eat buggers like you right?" The purr grew louder, escalating into laughter.
"So, you used to be a Two-leg or something before? Can you change back eventually? Maybe after you die you'll turn into a cat next time and you can be my clanmate! Or do you like being all...froggy?" The questions bubbled from her like water from a spring and Asterpaw plopped down on her rump beside the kit and his strange friend.
-
" Trust me when I say that you probably don't want to know ShadowClan. " Asterpaw made a face. The truth was the apprentice didn't personally know any ShadowClan cats herself as she hadn't made the last gathering but she had heard about them and that counted for something. "But they're a group of cats sorta like us."
"Two-legs are weird too. So, how did Frogkit find you? Or how did you find him, however it goes."
-
Asterpaw thundered over the paw-dappled path that lead from the ravine and out into the forest, her tail held high and fur fluffed in excitement as she headed through the forest to the Training Hollow. Today would be her first 'official' visit to the hollow as the last time, when Wolfstar had made her his apprentice they had went off on a mission to WindClan before they really had a chance to train. Now she would be meeting the grizzled leader here and after hastily grooming her pelt she dashed out of the camp.
She slowed a bit as the ground gave way to the sandy clearing and perked up when she spotted the form of Wolfstar just ahead. "Here I am!" She panted, slipping to a messy halt on the sand and casting a glance up at the sky. It was just before Sun-High. "I'm not late am I?" the little apprentice asked, half anxiously.
-
"And the other kits don't think it strange that you walk around with a frog on your head?" She inquired of Frogkit.
-
Asterpaw was supposed to be hunting, and she had been until the sharp, terrified squeal of captured prey startled the woodthrush she was stalking and the fat bird fluttered off through the trees. Mouse-dung! she twitched her tail crossly, that bird could have feed a good number of cats and it would be the largest catch she had ever made in her moon and a half of Apprenticeship. I swear to StarClan I'm going to kill whatever idiot just made that catch!
Swinging around to face the direction the sound had come from, she crouched low through the lush green undergrowth and scented the air, picking up a scent that made her spine stiffen and eyes go wide in a mixture of surprise and excitement. It wasn't the scent of any of the other Clans, and didn't carry the harsh tinge of Twolegs, so it couldn't be a Kittypet. That left only two options. Aster followed the scent, careful to keep her light-colored pelt close to the ground and her mind running wild with images of huge rogues and loners invading the territory. The sight of a gray pelt and the smell of freshly spilled blood made her let out a soft hiss of anger. The crow-food eater has the nerve to cross our border and steal our prey! Not while I'm around.
Asterpaw pounced, not noticing until the last moment that the intruder was a kit. Never the less, she aimed to ram her shoulder into the cat and pin him down with a paw upon his chest. With her most fierce expression she hissed- "Trespasser! Who are you and what do you think you're doing in ThunderClan territory?""
-
Growling low in her throat she curled her lip at the first warrior but stepped back, albeit reluctantly from the kit. "Does it matter?" Asterpaw muttered as the two questioned the kit He shouldn't be here in the first place, and he definitely shouldn't be stealing prey. She flicked her tail towards the tuffs of fur and blood where the mouse had been. "Cost me a good catch too, I say we chase him out!"
{Sorry, had to do final post-floodstop post. No more.}
-
"Woah, Woah, Woah, Wait" Asterpaw darted into the path of Graylight and Wolf, the unusually small apprentice holding her tail straight up in the air. She had watched the entire exchange between the cheeky kit and every time the little trespassing mouse-brain opened his mouth she had wanted to pluck out his whiskers. Now, violet-hued eyes narrowed as she glanced between Graylight and Wolf. "You mean to tell me" she began slowly "That you plan on bringing this rogue back to our camp and letting him join? He doesn't know the first thing about the Warrior Code! He came here, stole our prey AND played with it before he killed it! Last time I checked all of that is against the code.[b]"
Not to mention he expects us to believe that he faced off against full-grown rogues and loners and somehow had them running with their tail between their legs! Ha! Wolfstar could flatten him with a single paw!
Fur prickling, she went on. "[b]ThunderClan may be all about recruiting but really, him? We should follow the leads of the other clans."
-
"I'd be hiding too if there were a giant stomping around trying to squash me!" That was Asterpaw, slipping inside the den just in time to get a good idea of what was going on. The cream-furred apprentice shook her head at Hazelpaw and Silverpaw, wrinkling her nose at the scattered mossy nests.
"They're probably hiding in our bedding! Imagine waking up in the middle of the night with a spider dangling right here- " Her tail whisked up to touch the center of her muzzle and Asterpaw went cross-eyed trying to look.
-
"Don't try to lecture me on tales I've been hearing from the Elders since the Nursery days!" Aster was quick to retort, claws churning the leaf-littered forest ground. "Except Firestar was brought to the forest by StarClan as part of a prophecy. Oh let me guess, it was the divine intervention of StarClan that made all the others turn you away so you could come here and grace all of the clan with your presence?"
She rolled her eyes skyward and let out an exasperated hiss. Why was she even letting herself be drawn into an argument with some strange cat, let alone a kit for StarClans sake? It was beginning to get a little bit ridiculous she knew, and if Wolfstar knew she was behaving like this-No. She was defending their territory and prey from some rogue kit who happened to have a bit of an overblown view of himself. Pushing thoughts of her mentors disapproval aside, Asterpaw tilted her chin defiantly and glared down at Wolf. One thing she could be sure of was that she wasn't backing down first.
