A black tom who went by the name of Crowflight became nervous when he heard the approaching sound of yowling and spitting. He knew that there was a battle commencing, yet he was too afraid to leap into the fray and protect his clan. His leaders, Chocolatestar and Wavestar, had challenged XylophoneClan's leaders to a battle. He was worried about his mate, Illuminatingdream from XylophoneClan, coming to harm. She had recenty become pregnant, but refused to keep at bay in the nursery. His clanmates, Sol and Luna, stood by his side. "Come, Crowflight. We must protect what is ours and fight for it." Sol mewed kindly. Heart in his dry throat, the black tom rose to his paws and breathed. "Okay. Let's go." he said. The three began running into the battle. As they stormed in, Crowflight was thinking. Please, Illuminatingdream. Save yourself while you still can![/justify]

Crowflight ran into the fray, followed by Sol and Luna. Swallowing the lump in his throat, he pounced at a dark blue tom that he soon realised was Jokerstar. The larger cat used his strength as an advantage and rolled over, no matter how painful the dagger-like claws that dug into his fur were. Jokerstar thrashed Crowflight and threw him off. The black tom gasped for breath. His blue eyes drifted towards Illuminatingdream, his limp mouth making out the words, I love you. Jokerstar, unknowing of the relationship of her daughter with Crowflight, whispered, "Say your prayers, kiddo." Crowflight, eyes wide, began crying for mercy, jaws desperately trying to speak. A large, unholy paw rose in the air and swept down through Crowflight's throat like an executioners axe. Crowflight tried to scream, but all that came out was an untranslatable gurgle.
Illuminatingdream gasped. Everything else was silent; she felt like there was nothing but her and Crowflight. Wailing, the pregnant she-cat ran over. "No...no!!" she yowled. She looked into Crowflight's blue eyes and cried. "Illuminatingdream, my love. I do not fear death. Look after our kits. Do not fear; you will see me again." She paused as she heard Crowflight's voice echoing in her ear. Illuminatingdream looked over her shoulder and saw a celestial figure in the distance. "Crowflight! Don't leave me!" she called desperately. The black tom disappeared, leaving a translucent mist. The fighting had stopped by the time that Illuminatingdream came to her senses. The realisation that the HollyClan deputy was dead sank in, more so the fact that Jokerstar himself had killed him. Illuminatingdream cried and ran back to camp.

It was Crowkit's first day out of the nursery, away from his sibling, Jumpingkit. The tortie that he was ashamed to call his sister had been told off and banned from coming outside for a week. Poor thing... he giggled silently. He never knew his dad, Crowflight. But if you want to know a secret, Crowkit was a reincarnation of his late father.
The black kitten, aged three moons, had been stuck in the nursery ever since he was born because he was always getting in trouble with his sister. He didn't mind. His mother was just a grumpy misery-guts. He had played inside the nursery, but had gotten bored of the poor equiptment that was supplied in there; moss and reeds from the river. Talk about dull! Crowkit ran underneath many warriors' paws, weaving and winding until he reached Harperstar's den. Jokerstar had slept out of camp ever since the murder of the HollyClan deputy, Crowflight.[/justify]
