The next day, Eli woke up with an ache all over him. Sitting up he saw a tag on his wrist with the written prescription that was given to him along with the time it was used. "What the...?" Rubbing his head he tried to remember what happened. Memory flooded back and then the band around his wrist made sense. They were switching his medication due to little success and the seizure he must have been having the night before. Searching his phone he looked to see if Fey called or messaged at all. Disappointed, he put it down and got up to get into fresh clothes from a suit case under his bed. Once ready he called for Miles to see if there was any way to have his therapy session early. The sessions were usually his only opening out of here-- Since school was not an option this week-- and a chance to get out to see Fey. He grabbed his phone and texted
Is there any chance we can meet up today?
He knew it was a long shot, and he had no idea what he had said to her when the demon took over. She might not even want to talk to him at all for all he knew.
-
[I'm sorry for the absence. I had a family event this weekend and had to travel out of state.]
While she was delayed with the response, Eli paced his room with uncertainty and doubt, all the while trying to remain composed from the demon. Every passing minute he counted his blessings that he wasn't being possessed right now. Relief washed through him as she responded, of course, after a jolt of surprise for the late reply. At that point he was in the cafeteria with a few other patients with guards on every wall. His knuckles became white with the tension he held his fork. It was breakfast time for the asylum; which they dispatch small groups of patience one at a time for their meals to minimize conflict. Checking his phone he responded:
Um, say about 12:30? And where's the best place for it?
Waiting for a text he added:
And is there a chance without your parents?
He knew how incredibly shady that sounded but he had no choice. Her folks would murder him if he found out that he almost was possessed by his demon and was now asking to see Fey. Especially with the risk of something happening. Fey might even lose her control like she almost did yesterday.
-
Eli was about to say that meeting her was going to be under Mile's nose and out of his knowledge but he didn't want to expand further in a questionable perception. Sighing he looked around to see a guard staring him down with a death glare. Averting his eyes he looked at the tables around him with young adults staring at their food like their entire life was a lie, and others, having conversations with themselves or their food. God, anywhere would be better than here.
Well maybe the library on Cambell Street?
-
After reading the text, he answered before he powered down his phone then went to dismiss his tray to prepare for his therapy session. It was his only window of escape.
Won't be a problem. I'll see you there
I hope, he thought worriedly. When the time came, Miles drove to a tanned building with dark brown clay roofing. How these sessions usually went was Eli sitting on a regular cushioned chair as he said only half his story. The therapist had seen his file and often asked about how Eli felt about what his parents did or how it might have "traumatized" him. He never once spoke about the voice in his head or about how his eyes turned red. All he ever mentioned was the fact that anger issues and bipolar syndrome ran in the family. Today Miles waited in the waiting room like he always did; for me, though, I escorted myself to the bathroom under Miles' notice. But after closing the door he did the old trick of sneaking out the bathroom window. And he was off to the Library, hoping Miles wouldn't notice his departure any time soon.
By the time he made it to the library he was panting lightly and was about 15 minutes late.
-
With the wave he gave a small smile and nodded a thanks to fill in the seat. "Sorry for being late, it's a bit of a walk to here." Brushing brown hair out of his eyes he let out a breath. Awkwardly he glanced at her, "And... I'm sorry for anything I said yesterday." Judging by her welcoming gesture I didn't screw up beyond repair. "And for bringing up all that... Stuff."

Fang backed up slowly as he stared at the fight. Behind the bear he saw a cub behind the bushes. An idea formed in his head-- a stupid one at that. He went around and snarled at the cub. Fear flashed in its eyes as it backed away, until Fang snapped at it. The cub ran passed the mother with Fang racing after it intentionally to get the mother's attention to lead her away.
[Sorry, was gone for a few days out of state]

The brunette boy winced at the memory of his seizure last night. He cast his eyes away when she looked at him gently with understanding. When she produced a book his attention was brought back with a quizzical look. "What is that? And how can it possibly get rid of this thing in us?" It's true, he was skeptical. Once Miles hired a shaman to try to make of what was with his red eyes but she only annoyed him, and that he was too exhausted from the day before's fight to be snappy at this old woman. And even she, could not see passed the demon in him, nor find a way to remove it from him. The second time she came over she had to leave in an ambulance.
-
[Don't crush my creativity XD I'll just make it HIS son or whatever. I didn't know what to do, don't hate. Scratch my last post then]
Fang stared at the fight for a moment with surprise of Avelyn's agility. Once she managed to knock the brute down he prepared himself in case it decided to get up and fight once more. When the bear got to his feet he snarled as it turned to strike at Avelyn again. Despite his injuries he launched himself at the bear and caught a jaw full of fur and skin from the behind the shoulder. This caused the bear to swing his paw at him but as he was aiming to get Fang, his paw swung towards Avelyn.

"What?" Eli stared at the pages with new found curiosity. How could that be possible? "What language is this even in?" He looked up to do a quick look around the room so no one was looking at them, unsure of why they would, but he was paranoid like that.
-
"Isn't Latin the usual language for demons or all this supernatural stuff?" Eli ran a hand through his brown hair as his amber eyes appeared unsure. "And having them walking about, actually alive and free sounds more dangerous than us keeping them in line." They would be able to actually attack, or even do more damage other than migraines. People could die or seriously hurt. But they would be mortal... Meaning they could be killed.
Do you really think you could do that? It scoffed. Are you really a killer?
-
Eli studied her for a moment with furrowed brows before he sighed and turned to gaze at nothing in particular beyond them. "Well you might be right about your dad being able to help." Though, her mother being a demon herself she might be more experienced with something like this; but truth be told, Eli wasn't sure confronting the mother about this would do too well with her demon. As she clutched a book to escape to a different subject, Eli said, "We'll figure it out, Fey..." Right then his phone began to ring, making Eli jump and everyone near them glare at his disruption. He silenced it at once after giving the by standers an apologetic look. It was Miles. Wow, he now notices I'm gone. The screen went black as he powered down his phone. Eli ran his hand through his hair-- a sign that a migraine was coming on. Dismissing it he looked to Fey, "How about later today I research more on this book and see what I can find?"
-
When Fey stated her fears, Eli put his hand over hers and gave an assure squeeze, "I won't let that happen." His eyes were faded with concern and determination. In reply to her suspicions he said, "Who? Miles? I get that he works at the asylum and all but he's not that bad." Why the hell am I defending the man who locks me up in a cell-like dorm room? I do not know.
Because he is the only one who actually is willing to care for you.
I'm an assignment. Not his son. He gets PAID to deal with me-- Ugh, no don't think like that.
-
"I promise." He reassured. Even though his demon would discourage this, he knew that he would do everything in his power to keep Fey safe. Even if he got hurt himself. He didn't realize before how much it shook him with her gaze. The gentle softness of her eyes stirred something in him, something like awareness. Not making an obvious scene he looked back down at the book and replied, "Well I mentioned the possibility of finding a place that could home school me and that I might know a place. But he said they would have to do a 'thorough inspection' of the house and family. Along with some stupid bracelet/watch thing that monitors my pulse. I don't know if your parents would even be okay with me there. I especially don't think they will be okay with some guys coming in and doing some kind of background check or whatever. Unless I can get by a week or something with good temper." He said with a sigh. It surprised him how comfortable he was of telling her all of this. But she already knew the half of it by just knowing where he resided.
[Started school today so I'll be busy most of the week with that.]
-
[Damn you and your fortunate normal school scheduling]
"Yeah, probably... And Fey, I really appreciate all of this. I know one more dark entity added to the mix doesn't make things any easier but, I guess you're my last hope with this thing." His attention on her was disrupted with a sudden odd feeling. Silently he scanned around the room with only his eyes, feeling watched and... Hunted? Eli said to Fey while still looking around the room in a tone quieter than they were already doing, "Do you... Feel that?"
-
[You live next to the superintendent? Oh wow... lol]
His eyes slowly observed the room until they froze on a hooded figure next to a bookshelf half way across the room from them. Their eyes locked: the stranger's ice blue eyes staring at his own. "Fey, we need to get out of here... Now." The guy was about a few years older than Fey and Eli and wore a dark grey hoodie, a black backpack and a dark scarf that hid the lower half of his face. One would find him a bit conspicuous in the early spring, but that didn't matter right now. All he knew was that he saw a sheathed knife on his belt just under his jacket. And this wasn't any pocket knife or kitchen knife; no, this was a seven and a half inch, curved blade that was intended for assassination. Who knows what else he has on him. The hand that was holding Fey's tightened it's grip and Eli got up swiftly, "Bring the book." The man was starting for them, slipping through people and shouldering others out of his way if they blocked him.
-
He walked quickly with her as they slipped out to the front doors of the library, ignoring the librarian's sharp look at the suspicion they were stealing a book. He took a left turn down the street as the man exited the library in an increasing pace. In a low tone Eli said to Fey, "There's a mall at the end of the street. We can lose him there... Were you followed on your way here?"
-
They were getting closer to the intersection where the light was about to change in their favor. Eli's grip on Fey's hand tightened reassuringly, "We are not going to die." He said through clenched teeth, determination shining in his eyes. "And none of this is your fault, I asked you to come here. Just keep your heart rate down long enough to find some cover." Unfortunately, as soon as they reached the cross walk the lights changed, making them trapped with the closing enemy. Eli's jaw line tensed as he looked around them, "You're going to just have to trust me on this one. Do not let go." With that he went straight for the cross walk, running past on coming traffic that was only a foot away from them. As planned, this crazy act of gambling their life cut off the pursuer's pathway. A car made a sudden stop before them, only inches away from hitting Fey as horns honked loudly. Not wasting any time Eli encouraged her to remain closer to him with a slight tug as they made it off the divider and reached the other side of the cross walk. Eli looked behind them to see piercing cold eyes glaring at him. He looked at Fey and said with a shaky breath, "Are you okay?"
-
[UGH I responded to this! Then it blanked out]
Eli returned a strong embrace as he suppressed the shudders that threatened to possess his body. Seeing the signs that tears were about to flow Eli nodded and wrapped an arm around her shoulders comfortingly as they continued down the sidewalk. "I'm so sorry that I brought you there. I didn't think about something like this happening..." The mall steadily came closer. Cars exiting and entering cycled the constant flow of the parking lots.
-
"Right." Eli breathed as they hustled down. He looked behind him to see that the man wasn't there. But something in his gut told him that the guy wasn't too far away. When they entered the mall he removed his arm from Fey and put his hands in his jacket pockets. "So these demon hunters... Exactly how professional, or skilled can these guys be?" He had a sinking feeling that he wouldn't want to know the answer. Judging by the delicate design of the knife he knew these people were experienced.
-
His amber eyes darted around the crowd of people before they landed on Fey as she doubled over. "Hey, Fey what's wrong?" Offering support he helped lead her further into the crowd to find a store that would provide as cover or an escape. Seeing a clothing department he nodded to it, "We could take cover in there." As worry radiated from her he offered a weak smile, "Just think of it as a cliché movie plot to change our appearance. Plus I think there is a parking lot beyond it. Just hang in there.."
