Inspite the more dominant tom's strong protests the other continued, "Well it's not like we have any good reason to attack you all, for one thing there's only two of us and quite a few of you. My name's Matt, by the way... not that you care."
Though he'd just pointed out that he and the other tom were in a fair bit of danger, he didn't seem very nervous any longer.

Seeing Dawnwish from his place in the tree, the tom darted down without thinking, hoping he'd be able to keep the kitten out of harm's way. Normally he'd never be willing to put himself in danger, even for a kit, but leafbare had worn on his thought process.
-
Lawliet wasn't unnerved by Forest's change in behavior, simply watching.
-
Seeing Dawnwish being carried away, the small tom came back to his usual senses. However, while unusual for him, he was conserned and quietly and quickly followed Nightpath and Dawnwish. He was oddly endeared to the kit, inspite having nothing in common with the little one. Even after losing sight of the two his nose led the way.
-
"I don't remember. I was young when I lost my family, my clan may have been destroyed." Lawliet licked his paws, cleaning them off having finished his meal.
-
"Believe me, we are not the only two of our kind." For just a moment the emptiness in his seemingly endless eyes fled, some insurmountable happiness taking its place, however the emptiness quickly returned.
-
"Loners, though trust me, Mello here isn't an easy fight. However, nether of us are looking for a scrap. Maybe we could help you out." The tom named Mello shot his traveling partner a dirty look. Matt didn't seem to notice and continued his attempts to lighten the mood.
-
Calmly the white tom guessed where the cat carrying Dawnwish would go, taking a route that would eventually lead to a meeting. He didn't want to be cornered if Nightpath turned on him and planned a way out if things became violent.
-
Matt's eyes lit up. "As a matter-of-fact we do."
-
The tom approached Nightpath slowly, unsure why he didn't just turn tail and leave. He was poorly socialized and didn't know how to imply his intentions though body-language only though speech. Stopping several tail lengths away from Nightpath, he waited.
-
"Near, I'm a loner." He replied simply. He calmed a little (though he didn't look nervous in the first place), still ready to run however. His breath came in pants, he wasn't very strong and the chase had nearly worn him out.
-
"Well of course." Matt headed only a hint more west then Dragonclaw and Songspirit had been headed originally, but in the long run the small change in direction would make a large difference.
Mello still hadn't completely relaxed and often looked at Dragonclaw for signs of aggression. -
"It is best not to take chances, I learned that very young." Pain flashed through the tom's obsidian eyes at the thought of the lesson he'd once learned. After the unfeeling look from before remained.
-
"Of course." Matt stretched and plopped down on the spot. Mello on the other hand headed off opposide the way they'd been heading.

Having no where to go, Near went back to the shadow clan's camp, climbed a tree and settled himself among the branches.
-
Near watched the going-abouts of the clan. Wondering what it would be like to be a part of it.
If I was in a clan would I be at all important? I can't really fight, so what good would I be? -
"He slinks off like that sometimes, honestly I don't know where he goes. Generally he's going hunting, though I think he uses that as an excuse sometimes. Don't worry about it, if you're really that nervous I can bring him back though."
-
Eyeing Dogface, Near thought of a cat he'd heard of from his mentor. The difference between the two of them was that the other cat would eat the victim of his attack.
-
Near darted down from the tree in a small white blur. He stood before Dogface, prepared to flee if attacked by the much larger tom.
-
Matt looked over the kittypet, but said nothing. He didn't think it would be much of a fight, but he didn't want to waste any energy on pointless spats.
