Jael:
"No, not really," said Jael with a shrug, trying to pass it off as nothing. Her composure quickly fell apart. Well, a little...actually, yes. I am."
Jael:
"No, not really," said Jael with a shrug, trying to pass it off as nothing. Her composure quickly fell apart. Well, a little...actually, yes. I am."
Phoenix:
Phoenix could guess how that sentence was going to end.
"Oh...I'm sorry. Shouldn't have asked," he replied, silently cursing himself.
Jael:
Looking down for a few moment, Jael gave Rick a little smile.
"But at least we're all together."
Jael:
"You know what they say; birds of a feather flock together," Jael said, grinning, "All of us bird kids are like...family, in a way."
Phoenix:
As Ari looked at him, Phoenix couldn't help but look back. He found himself studying her, a smile creeping onto his face.
Phoenix:
Well that was certainly...interesting.
Phoenix had watched the entire ordeal, merely observing. Unless there had been a fight, he was not going to intervene with anyone else's affairs.
Jael:
Having remained silent for a while, Jael finally spoke up.
"So...where exactly are we going?"
(So, the flock's in town now?)
Phoenix:
After a rather uneventful flight, the flock seemed to have landed in a town in one piece. Phoenix set foot on the rooftop with the others, leaving his wings a little stretched out as they cooled off from the exercise. His stomach promptly began to rumble, complaining about food.
Jael:
"I'm hungry too," said Jael, simultaneously reading Phoenix's mind and hearing his stomach.
Jael:
Jael grinned, resisting the urge to jump for joy.
"Ooh, can we get hamburgers? Or hotdogs? Pizza? Oh, ice cream, ice cream!"
Phoenix:
"I'm sure we'll find some good chow," said Phoenix, rolling his eyes with a chuckle.
He looked over the edge of the rooftop, quickly spying a fast-food joint only a few blocks away. "That looks ideal."
Phoenix:
Phoenix raised an eyebrow at Ari because the amount of food she was ordering.
"I'm not sure whether to be shocked or impressed," he commented, "I'm surprised you're not fat."
Suddenly realising what he'd said, he quickly backtracked. "Not that I'm saying you're fat. You're very un-fat, like fit and good look-"
He promptly stopped talking before addressing the service lady. "I'll have three burgers, 3 large fries, a chicken sandwich, two apple pies, and a large coke. Please."
Jael:
"Oh, oh, and I'll have 2 burgers, some large fries and a sundae please!" Jael added, smiling happily at the lady.
Phoenix:
"Yeah, sure," he replied, after receiving his food.
Phoenix went over to Ari and sat down beside her. He cast a glance at Jael, sending thoughts her way.
Jael:
Hearing Phoenix's thoughts, she grinned widely and walked to Rick.
"We can sit together if you like."
Phoenix:
"I think we have an excuse for eating like pigs," joked Phoenix, running a hand through his hair and sending a casual look around the restaurant. In reality, he was checking for anyone suspicious looking or specifically watching them. It look safe.
"The beach incident is bugging me," he commented, "They shouldn't have been able to find us so quickly."
Phoenix:
"Which means either they followed us, which I doubt, or they were somehow tracking us," Phoenix said, finishing his fries. "Question is, how?"
Phoenix:
"I didn't want to say it, but I think so," he agreed, lowering his voice to a whisper. He looked Ari back in the eye, focusing on her.
"We both know it could be anyone in the flock. Even us. Either of us could be a traitor. Thing is...do you trust me?"
Phoenix:
"Yes," he replied without hesitation. "So I propose we try to find out who it is. Just us. If we can't trust the others, then we keep this between ourselves."
He held his hand out to shake. "Deal?"
Phoenix:
He shrugged in response, having no real answer for that.
"We'll figure that out at the time."
Phoenix looked down and realised he was still holding Ari's hand. He went to let go, then thought against it. He continued to hold it, smiling at her.
Jael:
Jael quickly sat next down next to Rick. She started digging happily into her food.
"Dis ish good," she mumbled with a mouthful.
Phoenix:
Phoenix continued to hold Ari's hand a little longer before letting go, feeling a little nervous.
"Ahem...but for now, lets just find somewhere to stay, and hopefully get a goodnight's rest."
Phoenix:
He nodded at Nathan as he finished his food, downing it with the last of his coke.
"Ok then."
Jael:
Jael frowned at Rick in confusion.
"...What do you mean?" she asked.
Jael:
Her eyes widened, staring at Rick.
"W-w-what?" she asked, his words having not sunk in. Or at least, her brain hadn't managed to understand the words.
Jael:
"No, I really didn't," she replied, still stunned, "You...like me?"
Phoenix:
Phoenix grinned at Ari.
"Haha, nice one."
Jael:
Another silence passed. Jael remained sitting, still in something of a daze.
"As in...like me like me?" she clarified.
Jay:
"Being childish has nothing to do with it!" exclaimed Jayden, just as erasers burst out of the tree line in front of them.
He ducked under one's punch, uppercutting his opponent in his morphed muzzle before kicking his legs out from underneath him.
