She sighed. "Mei, you guys are the only really family I have around here at all." She was silent for a moment before speaking again. "Why did Sayomi give you wings? You never told me.."
Avery nodded, his smile growing wider. "And if I'm not qualified to be a king with you in an Elven tribe, then I can just be your knight!"
"Oh..." She looked a bit sympathetic now. "So you couldn't see any of your family, either..."
Avery laughed, hugging him back. "Then it's a promise!" He held out his pinky finger. "We have to swear on it."
The man soon landed gently onto the ground, handing Ezra over to a different soldier, who immediately set him down and began her work, disinfecting and wrapping the gash in his head. She then checked his breathing and, when she found it somewhat abnormal, began examining his rib cage, looking for any sign of a broken or fractured rib. Levi was standing a few feet away, watching the child be treated.
"Captain!" To this, he turned, seeing a slightly shorter woman land next to him.
"You were supposed to check with me earlier, Petra." Levi said in reply. The ginger haired woman gave him an apologetic smile.
"Sorry, sir, there was a bit of a hold up." She then looked over his shoulder to Ezra, a look of concern beginning to line her features. "Did you find him?"
"Yes. He was stuck under what was left of his house."Levi looked over to the boy, the same stoic expression on his face.
Petra frowned, looking back up at the Captain. "Do you think he'll make it?"
Levi didn't answer.
She sat up a bit, shocked. "What!?"
"You just lock your pinky fingers. It confirms a promise. After you do it, you can't break the promise." He gave him a smile. "It sounds kind of dumb, but still.."
She hugged him back. "You won't be." She then looked over to the Mansion, the rain now beginning to come down and help put out the flames. "What are we going to do? I doubt much if any part of the Mansion will be livable after the fire is put out..."
He nodded, interlocking his pinky with Mori's. "Like this."
"Yup!" He laughed a bit. "We'll be kings! and we'll make sure to protect your people and make sure nothing like this happens anymore! It's a promise!" he then let Mori's finger go, giving him a wide grin.
She looked down at Mei. "He wouldn't be coming with us?.."
"No problem, Mori." he chuckled, hugging him back.
"Okay, good..." She was then silent, watching as the flames began going out on what was left of the mansion.
The woman treating him saw Ezra's attention placed on the shorter man and gave him a small smile, beginning to talk to him while starting the required method to treat his ribs. "That short man right there, with the cravat, is Lance Corporal Levi. He's also the captain of the Special Operations Squad. " She glanced away from Ezra's chest to his face to make sure that he was still awake, hoping that her talking to him would keep him awake. She looked back to her work. "The ginger-haired woman next to him is Petra Ral, one of the members of his squad. I'm guessing she came to give him a follow up, although it doesn't look like there's much to follow up on..." She stopped talking then, continuing to focus on treating Ezra.
She soon finished, pushing her blonde hair out of her face and giving him a smile. "There. You should be fine now, just don't move too much... My name's Amy, by the way." She scanned over the debris as well, her smile now gone. "It's going to take a long time for everything to be rebuilt..." Amy then looked over to her right, her eyes widening as she saw another soldier carrying in a child that must have been around the age of eight, the poor girls legs mangled and broken. Amy quickly got up and ran off to help the child, not saying a word to Ezra as she left.
Levi and Petra saw the girl come in and both froze. Petra gave Levi a quick salute, running over to the girl in hopes to help. Levi, meanwhile, walked over to Ezra and knelt down in front of his view of the girl. "Don't look." he said in his normal monotone, thinking that the already scarred boy shouldn't have to see more of this.
Avery thought for a moment. "I'm not sure... We could send in boys to go as spys but i dont know how theyd be able to get us information from there."
