Flight's mind churned. What had happened to her apprentice? She thought she believed him- he could be trusted; at least, she hoped so- and she wanted to give him a fair chance. Then she leaned forward to peer at her Future's paw, and serious doubts were placed in her mind.
"Kyka? All I see are three small holes. Are you sure you didn't hallucinate?"
The holes, forming a triangle, could have been caused by anything. A thorn, perhaps. Perhaps Kyka made up a story to keep her from thinking he had stumbled in a thornbush. This thought was dismissed almost as soon as she had it. No! He would never do that. She had to take his claims at face value. Trust was essential in a relationship with a Future.

Flight glanced in the direction he was staring, but she couldn't see anyone. She peered into Kyka's eyes for a heartbeat or two, then nodded decisively. "I believe you, Kyka. I don't know why, but I have to believe you. What can I do to help you?" She sent a quick prayer to Fortis that there was something she could do, that Kyka would be safe. And that he wasn't lying to her.

Flight nodded briskly, squashing alarm that bubbled up inside her. "Give me a detailed description of the idiot who decided to mess with you." She settled back on her haunches, thinking of what she would do to the cat who had treated her Future like this. Flay him. Rend him. Line her nest with his fur. Several things came readily to mind.

Flight nodded as her apprentice spoke. "That's really easy to remember. Good. When I find him, he's going to wish he never thought to mess around with my Future. C'mon, let's go back to the camp. We need to get you calmed down, and maybe get some prey in your belly." She motioned for him to carry her catch and stood staring a challenge at the dark trees. No one was going to mess with Kyka. No one.

"May I join you?" Flight drew in beside the toms, paw pads silent on the cave floor, a jovial grin on her maw. "I wouldn't want to stay in the cave too long with Jedi lurking around like that, and it's always nice to hunt with others." The Skull's black pelt slid smoothly over lean muscle as she padded alongside them, already sniffing the air with an eager smile.

    "Hello."
A lithe form materialized from the undergrowth, black fur swamped in shadows. Flight stretched languorously, kneading the moist earth beneath her paws, but her green optics studied the three alertly. "Betrayal, I believe? Betrayal, who is this she-cat? She smells foreign." Flight took the time to smile at Cobalt, waving her tail over the young kit's head for him/her to play with if he so desired.

Flight matched his pace, always a step behind her Future, ears pricked for any sign of the tom Kyka had described. She seemed calm and collected on the outside, but it was a struggle to remain that way- she wanted to lurch at shadows, spin around with her fur raised along her spine, back up all the way to the cave. A bird streaking from a nearby bush had her flinching in alarm.

    OOC: Sounds cool!

IC: Flight shook her head vehemently. "I'm helping you," she growled in a voice that suggested there was no chance of disputing it. "There is no way I'm going to let you deal with him on your own! What kind of Skull do you take me for? You're my Future, and if I'm a little spooked, it isn't surprising enough to comment too much on. I have a duty to protect you."

Flight hissed in alarm and scrambled to her paws, glancing around for Sundiata, Kyka, and Nebuchadnezzar. "Oh, Fortis," she breathed, praying desperately, "please, please help us to all escape. Twolegs! H*ll!" She knew they weren't officially worshiping Fortis anymore, but she refused to give him up. Panic was starting to take hold, and she fought to avoid hyperventilating.

Flight nodded wearily. Wench? Sounded okay, she supposed. At least she was still the same rank. A glance around the ship did little to help her mood. Where was the forest? Where were the trills of the prey birds, the rustle of leaves in the wind, the feel of pockmarked stone beneath her paw pads? They were replaced by the crash of waves, the harsh screams of sea birds, and the rough splinters of wood that seemed to sway constantly. The brisk scents of a forest were no longer there; instead, salty, humid air stung her nose. Flight took a few deep breaths, straightening her back slowly. She'd get used to it, she supposed. Something had occurred to her, though, something important. "What will we hunt?" she called loudly, so as to be heard over the infernal crashing of waves. "And where?"

Flight trailed behind her Deckhand, tasting the air constantly for any hint of the predator that threatened Kyka. She was here to help, if it could be called that, and to see firsthand what Kyka had seen. What, not who; there was no way the cat could be living. She couldn't pick up a scent, she couldn't see anyone; either this demon cat was the epitome of stealth, or it wasn't a cat at all, and she preferred the latter.

    OOC: It's awesome! Really fancy.

Flight emerged from the nearby forest, fury blazing in her eyes and a sparrow swinging in her jaws. Dropping the bird and spitting out a few downy feathers, the Wench glared daggers at Quarantine. "How dare you speak to Damage like that? He's one of the best cats in the Skulls, and his tail alone is worth ten of you. Shut your d*mn mouth and don't spew that kind of stupidity at him, 'cause he doesn't deserve any of that."

    EDIT: OOC: Oops, ninja'd.

Flight, seeing Leon's step toward Quarantine, mirrored it. She wouldn't attack unless he did, but she wanted Quarantine to know that she wouldn't balk at a fight. Two good fighters- she considered herself rather accomplished at the art, and what she had seen of Leon showed that he was, as well- against a coward. If Damage joined in, too, the ex-Skull member would be fighting a bear.

Flight | Skulls | Wench | No kill; injure & capture allowed

Flight mirrored her Deckhand's pose, following his gaze to where she assumed the shadowy cat to be. "Tell me where he is," she breathed into Kyka's ear. No one else would be able to hear her. "I'll attack him at your cue." She was training him, but there were times when a Wench had to step back and follow her Deckhand's directions. She was proud of his courage and his ability to lead. Her only hope was that she would be able to lead him just as well.
