December grinned and chuckled softly at Ophirin's analogy. When she came near a thick-trunked tree and grabbed ahold of the branch stumps and began to climb.
About half way up, she sat on a sturdy branch and smiled down at Ophirin. "Come on!" she urged him.

Okay, so this is just a short children's book type of story that I have written for school. Track, pm me what you think, and post what you think! Enjoy!

Black birds fluttered out of the tree tops as a large shadow cast over them. Branches swayed from side to side as a vividly colored Drizzle Wing dragon perched herself upon a tall tree. She folded her multicolored wings and shifted her feet on the thick branch beneath her. Her whole body was covered with every color that you could imagine. Blues, greens, bright oranges, pinks and purples here and there all over her scales. She scanned the forest around her that seemed to never end. Her stomach growled for food. With a sigh, the dragon unfolded her wings and stretched them out to her sides. The trees below her swayed as she flapped her wings up and down until she floated into the air. She stayed in mid-air for a few moments before taking off over the forest in search of food.
"Hold on, hold on," Saskia grumbled to her stomach. She watched the forest floor as she skimmed the treetops. "Ah-ha," she whispered to herself in delight. Saskia dove down and landed on a grassy clearing in the forest. She trotted over to a small bush covered in bright blue and yellow berries. She picked a handful of the berries and popped a few in her mouth. "Ah, Aldenberries, the best berries in Fire Breath," she said, her voice muffled by the berries that she had stuffed into her mouth.
After she finished her meal of Aldenberries, Saskia searched the area around where she had found the berry bush. It was not long after she had started wandering that she noticed that she had never been in this part of Fire Breath Island. Not a split second after noticing this, Saskia realized that she was lost.
Saskia started to backtrack back to the Aldenberry bush, but ended up even more lost every time she tried. She finally stopped and rested under a large tree. Just as she was about to fall asleep, she heard a voice call down to her.
"Are you lost?" The small, high-pitched voice awakened Saskia from her sleepy trance. She sat up and looked into the tree above her to find a small baby squirrel.
"Well, a little bit..." Saskia murmured as her voice trailed off. "But I can find my way home," she continued confidently.
"Are you sure? Because I have a map in my tree," the small squirrel offered. She held her tail in her tiny paws. She shifted her feet on the thin branch that supported her as she looked at Saskia with big brown eyes.
"I'm fine, but thanks for offering," Saskia smiled warmly as she said this. She began to walk off into the forest again.
"Okay, bye!" the small squirrel called to Saskia as she waved a dainty paw.
Saskia continued wandering the unfamiliar forest in search for home. The sky was beginning to grow darker and Saskia became sleepier. Her legs were sore and started to slow her pace. She decided to stop underneath a tall tree and lay down. She soon fell asleep.
The hot summer sun woke Saskia as soon as it hit her. She sat up, stretching her stiff wings to their full extent. She stood, still in a sleepy haze. She stuck her snout in the air and sniffed. Her head turned to her right, that was where her breakfast would be found. Saskia stood and headed towards the smell of a Frapple tree.
When Saskia arrived at the Frapple tree, she flew up above it. She hovered about an inch above the tree and beat her wings as hard as she could. The tree shuddered, causing many Frapples to fall from the tree. She flew back onto the ground and collected a few of the fallen fruits. In one bite, Saskia bit half of the Frapple off. She then finished the rest of the dark red fruit.
When Saskia bent her head to get the last Frapple, she noticed that a large chunk of it had been bitten out of it. She looked up into the Frapple tree to find a large Midnight bird. With his beak, the bird brushed its feathers that were so black that they were blue. It looked down at her with small golden eyes.
"You took fruit from my tree," he squawked. He pecked at the chunk of Frapple that he had taken from her piece of fruit.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know that-" Saskia began before being cut off by the bird.
"I don't care, I'd just prefer if you were to ask me first," the bird said, obviously caring more than he said he did. "Are you far from home?" The bird's golden eyes became more intense as he asked Saskia this. Saskia's eyes were filled with confusion. Why is everyone asking me this? she wondered silently. Do I look lost? I hope not...
"No, why do you ask?" she replied to the Midnight bird. Saskia's tail curled into a tight spiral and she shuffled her feet. She didn't like to lie, but she didn't want to look like a lost little dragon.
"Well, next time you come upon a fruit tree, ask the owner before picking them," the bird squawked. He looked down on Saskia with golden eyes, he was suspicious of her. He knew that she had lied, but he didn't say anything about it. "Have a nice day." The Midnight bird turned and walked into a hole in the tree trunk. His black feathers caused him to disappear into the shadows of the leaning Frapple tree. Saskia nodded and slowly walked back into the forest.
After Saskia began to become even more worried about if she would ever get home, she heard a sound that brightened her spirits. The rushing sound of falling water came to her ears. It was a more familiar sound. She was close to home! Saskia ran toward the sound of the waterfall that the dragons called Moonlight Falls.
When Saskia arrived at Moonlight Falls, she layed down on the warm sand that led to a small lake that was formed by the waterfall. She smiled and sighed. "Moonlight Falls! Home, I'm coming!" she cheered. She sat up, her back covered in sand and the shape of her body had been printed into the sand. She brushed off the parts of her body that she could reach and quickly stood. Saskia then flew up into the air and took off towards the top of the waterfall. She flew right next to the thousands of pounds of water rushing off of a cliff. She soon arrived at the top and settled right by the river that created Moonlight Falls.
Saskia rested there for a while, looking off into the distance for something familiar, but the only familiar thing was the waterfall.
"Hi!" a voice greeted to Saskia, making the dragon jump in surprise. She looked above her to find a small dragonet, or baby dragon, flying above her.
"Oh, hello," Saskia replied with a smile. The dragon above her was of Saskia's kind. Since that dragon was younger that Saskia, he only had a few colors. On his head, dark purple and a bright orange, on his tail, light green and the same bright orange, and in the middle, light blue and some of the same dark purple.
"I'm Silas, what's your name?" The dragonette landed down beside Saskia and looked up at her with the same green eyes that every Drizzle Wing had. Silas scratched his snout and curled his tail around his feet.
"Oh, I'm Saskia. Nice to meet you, Silas." Saskia patted Silas on his orange and purple head and grinned. I hope he doesn't ask me if I'm lost. I bet he won't, she thought. Maybe I do need help. Maybe I should ask him for directions. But wait, he's just a small dragonette, he won't be able to give me directions. She then decided to see if he were to ask him oif she was lost, then she would find out if he knew Fire Breath enough too lead her home.
"I know this is a weird question ask, but..." Silas began, pausing before continuing his sentence. "Do you need any directions? You look kind of lost."
"N-" Saskia stopped herself, she wasn't going to say no this time. She would just end up even more hopelessly lost. "Yes, yes I do need directions. I'm lost."
"Do you live in Avon?" Silas asked. He shuffled his feet and stretched his wings out, as if about to fly. He then folded them back up and waited for Saskia to reply.
"Yes, I do," Saskia responded, wondering how the small dragonette knew. Could he tell in some way, or had he seen her before?
"Oh, good! I live right next to Avon, in Kadar. I can take you there," Silas informed her excitedly. He unfolded his wings and flew up into the air. "Come on, what're you waiting for?" Saskia stretched out her wings and flapped up into the air. Silas turned to his right and began to lead Saskia home.
Silas stopped in mid-air right above the busy village of Avon. "Home!" Saskia cheered, twirling in the air and flying in circles. "Finally home! Thank you Silas, I would've gone in the completley opposite direction. I needed help after all."
"Your welcome," Silas replied with a grin. He joined in on Saskia's happiness, flying in circles and chasing her around in the air. "Remember, I'm right over there," he said as he pointed to the village next to Avon that was only separated by two rows of trees. "If you need me or just want to visit. And if you ever end up lost at Moonlight Falls, I'll probably be there."
"Don't worry, I'll come to visit." Saskia gathered Silas up into a hug and patted him on the head once more. "Bye Silas." She then flew down towards her home.
"Bye!" Silas called to her as he waved, then he flew off towards Kadar.
Saskia's parents rushed up to her and squished her in a hug as soon as they saw her. "We were worried sick about you!"
"You got any Aldenberries?" was Saskia's only answer.

"I won't fall, silly," she began,"And I came up here to see what we have ahead of us. You know, just to be prepared for when we get farther." December scanned the area, unhappy with what she saw. Just a bunch of forest, no sign of any other city whithin a 5-mile radius.
