It had become her personal mission to collect as many ancient trinkets - discovered in the nooks and crannies of the asylum - as possible, but this morning she hadn't found a single little bauble to fawn over. Not the tiniest earring or hairband, or even a plate fragment! No, just a thousand different breeds of dust bunnies and ten pounds worth of cobwebs.

Slightly cross, Rhyssie prowled the hallways, her tail lashing behind her. There had to be something that she'd missed; a mouse-hole, maybe, or a little crack in the wall she hadn't noticed. Someplace where such a trinket would roll and be forgotten...

A wink in the sunlight caught her eye, and, immediately intrigued, she dropped into a crouch. There, in a tiny space underneath the wall, she could see something shiny wedged, a vaguely circular shape. What is that? Frowning in concentration, she tried to cram her paw into the hole, to no avail. It was too large to fit. "Come on," she whined, setting her jaw determinedly as she tried again. "It's gotta work!"[/justify]

[justify]So intent was she on her goal that Rhys didn't hear another cat's approach until he spoke. She dimly acknowledged that the voice was Thor's, a tom whom she hadn't really spoken to up until this point. She knew very little about him, but he reminded her of her brother Benjamin; he had the same polite manner about him. He seemed nice enough, in any case, so she was willing to give him a chance in terms of companionship.

"Yeah," she grunted as she shoved her paw as deep as it would go. The shiny object was tantalizingly out of reach. "There's something stuck under here, and I'm trying to get at it." Gritting her teeth, she started to draw her paw back...only for it to wedge in the wood. Oh no. "And," she added cheerfully. "My paw's stuck. In the wall." She looked pleadingly up at the him. "Help me, please."[/justify]

[justify]Rhys was not bothered by his amusement; in fact, she had to stifle a few chuckles at the predicament she'd gotten herself into. "Yeah, well," she said with an experimental tug, wincing a little when the wood dug into the back of her paw. "I'm exceptionally skilled at getting myself into sticky situations."

Bracing herself, she prepared to yank her paw out at the exact moment he pulled on her scruff. Hopefully, the pair of them would be able to free the unfortunate appendage. "Yep, all set." [/justify]

Rhys yanked brutally on her foreleg as she felt her body slide back, but it was stuck well and good. She heard something crack, and suddenly there was pain, pain like none she'd ever felt before. She held out as long as possible, eager to free herself from her self-inflicted prison, but eventually she couldn't take it anymore.

"Ow, ow! Stop stop stop!" She tried to pull herself out of his grip to keep from doing more damage to her injured paw, grimacing at the needles shooting through her. Geez. She hoped it wasn't broken, but that crack...[/justify]

[justify]The pressure eased, but the pain did not. It throbbed through the appendage in white-hot waves; if she could see it now, it would be swelling up like a balloon. There was absolutely no way they would be able to extract it in that manner now. Panting, she rested her head against the insurmountable barrier that had captured her paw and thought. She shared Thor's sentiments; this most definitely fell under the category of not good.

"Okay," she huffed. "That didn't work. Now my paw's probably broken and I'm still stuck here. What next?" [/justify]

[justify]Ooh, they were beginning! Rhys shifted her weight into a position more conductive to learning, curling her tail around her paws and pricking her ears so she could hear Tango better. Marigold, huh? The calico was not well-versed in herbal knowledge and as such had to consider the question for a while, head unconsciously tilted in thought. Those were the round orange and yellow flowers, weren't they? They were common to see around in the summer, especially in gardens. Sturdy little buggers even came up on the sidewalk sometimes. But what were they used for?

"Infection!" Rhys announced confidently. In reality, she didn't have a clue if that was correct, but it was not her way to stutter uncertainly. If she was wrong, she would do it in a big way so that Tango would know to correct her.[/justify]

ANYWAY *coughs* Yes a thread with either of them is fine I have Aeth for Holocaust and Daenerys for Rhys. I originally planned for Aeth to be kind of like Luna Lovegood but she's turned into this little bundle of energy that has a tendency to shout and has the mind of a moon old kit when she's almost six moons old. Daenerys is the reincarnation of the former BHR leader Dusk, and I plan for her to retain most of Dusk's personality and memories. So far she isn't that much like Dusk other than her snarky, sarcastic attitude.
