Firekit didn't suckle. "You aren't my mother!" he squeaked. He ran over to Thrushpelt and licked his foot.

Dawnfeather crept forward. "Thrushpelt? Can I speak with you?" she asked.

Thunderfang swiped his tongue around his muzzle. "It would be easier to find Winterstar if this place didn't stink of carrion," he growled. Suddenly he heard a twig snap. He whirled round, claws extended. "Show yourself!" he snarled. My apprentice better get here soon, he thought.
