Randy cleared his throat a little, then smiled. He looked back toward the water.

Randy didn't even hesitate for a second, and put his arm around her shoulders.

I am Longtail, of Thunderclan.

Hope's world went in slow motion. She saw Shadow's move, and prepared herself to set into a defense that only she knew- Well, and Gemmni. She'd learned it from him.

It would be simple. The attacker's main point would to be to attack the cat's stomach with one paw. So, a simple defense would to tuck all your paws over your stomach, mid flight, so that not only did you protect your stomach, you'd overpower the cat by tackling them.

You just needed precise timing, strength, and agility. But something caught Hope's eye.

At first it looked like a glimmer in the air- maybe from the heat. But then it turned harsher. It seemed to be turning into a cat...

Shadow watched Hope as she glided toward him. He was confused by her actions. She seemed distance, her mind somewhere else. In fact, she wasn't even looking at him.

Wham!

And it happened. Hope choked out blood, finding it hard to breathe. A quiet gasp had spread through the clan. Smiling calmly, Hope collapsed to the ground, finding herself suddenly weak.

Perfect.

Joel sat down on a cot, " I got this one." He then laid down, really actually feeling hungry.

Joel started fiddling with his bag, unsure of what to do.

Shadow's eyes widened. He wasn't sure how to feel. He could feel himself shaking. He stood in front of Hope, who was starting to breath quickly. Already, he was feeling the blood on his paw starting to dry.

Hope looked up to Shadow, with large, unseeing eyes. They were already cloudy. But the smile never left her lips. Why was Shadow sad?

"This was just the way I wanted to die." Hope coughed out.

Shadow was shocked when Hope started speaking.

"My whole family died this way- Mouse, Mist, even Fall... All in the loss of blood..."

Hope's breathing got quicker. Her eyes started closing a little. " I don't want to live anymore. Gemmni torturing me, seeing ghosts... And the one thing that could help me stand it left me. I want to join my family!" Her words started raising in volume until he last word came out in a wail.

Shadow could tell that Hope was referencing to him. Shocked, it slowly died upon him that he had wanted to die also. So that he could join Snowleaf. He didn't even think of it before, but Shadow knew now that it was true. But now, Hope had basically killed herself so she could get away from everything. She was the last cat that Shadow really knew; It it torn him.

Hope had closed her eyes now. It was almost her time to go.

Joel shrugged, " I dunno..."

OOC: Okay! And also: I am Ashpaw, of Thunderclan. And one question; When did Tigerstar kill Firestar? (As in when he brings Scourge to the clan, or before then.)

Longtail was a little ways away from Tigerstar, his eyes wide.

Shadow felt his throat tighten. " I-I'm sorry Hope. I-...This shouldn't have happened."

Hope pressed her nose into Shadow, wanting to take something with her when she died. " It's okay, Shadow. I swear to you-" She coughed slightly, her mouth filling with blood.

Shadow's eyes widened. What would Hope say? That she'd always love him? Or hated him?

"-I'll never trust again."

Then Hope fell into a spinning darkness.

Shadow's heart shattered. She swore to him, she'd never trust again.

The whole clan bowed their heads, in a mournful silence. Shadow did also, but the next part, only he must've seen it.

The gem on Hope's forehead exploded, sending tiny shards of it everywhere. Then, something sent shivers down Shadow's spine. He swore he could see a faint outline of Hope rising out of her body, but it wasn't a clean, blueish color that Snowleaf had when Shadow had seen her die.

It was a dark, hateful orange.

Hope's ghost seemed to not see him, but actually in pain. Then, suddenly, a tremor was sent through her body, and then it seemed as if the orange had slipped off of Hope. Then, Hope disappeared. But the orange stayed. It twisted it's head a little, staring at Shadow. Then an evil grin tore across it's shiny face.

" I'll be seeing you again, Shadow. But this time, it'll be in the depths."

And then it was gone.

" According to tradition, I will get to choose the next leader."

Ripple's voice snapped Shadow from his vision.

" And though usually a family mate takes the place of the one that has died, I cannot take that place. Instead, and I think you will all agree, Shadow will be the new ruler of The Invisibles." Ripple continued.

Shadow was already shocked enough, but now he was ridged. Yowls of agreement spread through the clan. Ripple turned toward him, finishing, " If of course, he accepts."

Shadow gazed out at the sea of cats. He and Hope had started this group. Could he really take control?

Shadow returned to Ripple. Nodding his head, he replied, " I accept."

Randy knew that Kristen was probably freaking out, and to tell the truth, he was a little also. But he was quiet for a little longer, letting them both digest the kiss.

Randy smiled, actually kind of glad. Not sure of what to say, he glanced up at the sky and saw some clouds coming.

Thinking carefully, Hazelflight back to their earlier training, " How about we practice bird-hunting? I remember you having trouble with that." Now looking at her apprentice, she could see that she was thinking the same thing. But they had to practice it in case Shinepaw would come across a bird during the assessment.

Sandy shook her head, " Actually, it's not that far. It's right next to the lake."
