You can check the OS requirements when you're shoppin' for it.
It's strictly used for drawing - it's basically a drawing pad for your computer.
can't do anything by itself. Some (like mine) can be used with your fingers like a trackpad, and can recognize finger things (like on a windows 8, you can swipe your fingers from the right hand corner towards the left on your bamboo and it'll open up a menu)
I'm actually using a wacom bamboo myself - a bamboo capture because that's the cheapest one asdfghjkl;
Some come with software bundles; for instance, mine came with photoshop, autodesk sketchbook express, and something else i couldn't download on either a mac, or a windows. it was like a photoshop so i really couldn't care. xD
When you download the driver, there's this thing called bamboo dock, where you can download some free stuff (games, other useful crap).
