Pebble laughed lightly. "It'll probably be a while before that happens. Shady's still a kit himself; he was only born three and a half moons ago."

As much as Pebble still loved to think of Shady as a newborn kitten, it was true. In a couple moons, he would be an apprentice."I hope he gets a good mentor," she mewed. "Someone who isn't too hard on him."

Pebble hoped Shady got Orangepelt as a mentor. Her little baby deserved to have the best training.
"Who mentors Pebblepaw?" she wondered.

Shady was also eager to hear another story about StarClan.

"He sounds like a great mentor," mewed Pebble.

"Well, at least he's hard at work making sure Pebblepaw becomes the best warrior he can be," she mewed.

"Ooh! Me too!" shouted Shady. After all, they'd already heard a story about StarClan and he was curious to know more about RiverClan's past. But then again, they had only been told a few details about the cats that watched over them from beyond. Another story about the stars couldn't hurt either.

Pebble thought about it for a moment. "I think I'd rather be a warrior," she decided. "I've got plenty of experience with combat. When I was a loner, I had to be ready at a moment's notice to fight off anyone that tried to make a meal out of me or my kits."

Shady bounced up and down eagerly, waiting to hear another story.

"I'm not sure if I want to have more kits or not," she continued. "Perhaps if I found a tom that was humble, caring, and selfless." As she mentioned this, she seemed a little aloof. Pebble thought back to her days as a loner, before her kits were born. She had met a dreamy silver tom named Cloud, with long flowing fur and stunning green eyes. Instantly, she was infatuated. Though he was a tad full of himself, Pebble decided to look past his flaws and accept him as a mate. They had two sons, Fleck and Shady. Pebble was so hopelessly smitten that she never saw how serious his narcissism was. Cloud never took a moment to think about anyone but himself. Instead of looking after the kits, he spent hours staring into the water, admiring his own reflection. Over time he became more and more selfish, egotistical, and neglectful. Pebble eventually left him, wondering if he had ever loved her at all. She never wanted to end up with a tom like that again.

Pebble gave Eeltail a sympathetic look. "My condolences," she mewed solemnly. "I know how hard it is to lose someone you love." She gently brushed her tail along her back to comfort her.

"I know Photoflash, he greeted me when I first arrived to the clan," she mewed. "I haven't met Rangerstar, though. Is he the leader?"

"I wanna hear a story!" Shady squeaked eagerly.

Shady sniffed indignantly. How dare this inferior little scrap of fur tell him to shush? He could talk all he liked, and nobody should have the right to to tell him otherwise. "Why don't you shush?" he retorted.

Shady glared at Galaxykit, looking offended. "What did I do?" he growled.

What a coward! Galaxykit had turned back to Newpaw, probably blushing intensely. Shady guessed that he had been humbled by his masterful comebacks. Feeling a sense of dominance coming back, Shady relaxed and began grooming his lustrous fur.

"Where did he go?" Pebble wondered.

Shady heard a sudden splash. When he turned around, he saw a soaking apprentice in the river. He snickered.

"I hope he's okay," Pebble mewed worriedly. "I wonder what happened during Rangerstar's time away that he's so hesitant to tell us about."

ooc: i know, i've seen it :P i'm just trying to stay in character, Pebble didn't join the clan until after Rangerstar came back, so she probably wouldn't know what happened to him

"What happened to Ravensoul?" asked Pebble. "Why isn't he deputy anymore?"
