ooc Sorry, in advance, for the almost-no-punctuation and semi-randomness... that's just how I write my poems.

there was nothing
now
nothing
obvious-
a hint of breeze, wet with water
sun
warming away
defrosting
though
there was nothing
nothing
that
needed it
nothing
danced through the fields
happier
than life
ready
waiting
for
something
something
in the form of
sadness
to end
its simple joys
simple sorrows
simple hopes
simple tomorrows
so there was nothing
to see
all
who was wise
was hiding
in burrows
dens
nests
protected places
free
of the clutter
of the warmed air
warmer air
moving
dancing
happier
than life
so
basanti
was the wind
with
a breath
of wet
racing
silently
paws
barely
touching
the over-
heating
ground
muzzle open
breath in
out
in
out
scenting
for anything
anything at all
suddenly
one
skips onto the spectrum
mouse
small
but-
worthwhile
something
is
of course
better than nothing
so
paws are clouds now
spring clouds
full of silent showers
silent thunder
like summer clouds
paws
ready
to bring the kill
the mouse comes
beaded eyes,
dusty fur
cat
swivels her ears
listening
silently
to the munch of grain
who knows
how that
creature
can pause
and eat
in the swirling heat
swaying
to a dance of its own
it sits
easy kill
though hard to find
basanti
freezes
ice circulating
from her body
to be eaten
by
the hovering
air
one paw
one step
she
moves
forward
it
stays
closer
she comes
then
as soon as
she could possibly reach
down
and
up
she flies
lands
kills
with
a bite
a snap
dead
in her jaws
prey
