BRIEF WRITTEN DESCRIPTION Phoebe is a tall, broad-shouldered woman, who would be incredibly intimidating if she didn't radiate motherly affection. Slightly paler than the average human because of her elvish descent, Phoebe is mildly prone to sunburn (although not in the mountains) and has freckles over her nose and cheeks. Her dark, thick hair is usually kept out of the way by a braid, although she lets it down occasionally, and she wears a pair of gold-framed spectacles due to being just a little bit farsighted. She has a small scar on her bottom lip from a fall when she was a child.

POSITIVE PERSONALITY TRAITS A well-rounded, mature adult, Phoebe is patient and level-headed, going at most problems with a steady hand a clear plan. She tries to always be kind (as there is no reason not to be) and is friendly and always trustworthy. She cares deeply for her students and colleagues, and tends to be very motherly. Although firm when necessary, one can rarely say she is truly mean.
NEGATIVE PERSONALITY TRAITS Surprisingly enough, Phoebe was quite fiery in her younger years, and some of this intensity still shows through in her formidable stubbornness, as well as her tendency to be fidgety and high-strung. HISTORY Born in the Elven city of Nymdor to an elven mother and a human father, Phoebe was quite a rarity. Detested by humans, it was many years before she met her human family, as her father kept her hidden among the elves. However, it quickly became apparent that Phoebe possessed remarkable powers, of a greater intensity than normal, and when her elven teachers warned her parents of danger, she was spirited off to the Elder Tower. The Elderstar at the time was a kind but aging man by the name of Lupin de Tauron, the exiled heir to the duchy of Tauron. Lupin quickly realized that Phoebe had great potential, and largely taught her himself, instilling in her his values of loyalty and fairness. When Lupin passed, the other mages all agreed: Phoebe was the best choice for Elderstar.
After some years, Phoebe married fair-haired Aldaran Silversword, the mage smith of the Order of Thaumium. Unfortunately, however, Aldaran was killed in a freak accident when their only child, Lupin, was four. Traumatized by how quickly she lost her love, she took a vow of celibacy and dedicated her life to the Order and to her son.

His sharp, aquiline features make him look much sterner than he really is, but his smile is enough to melt anyone's heart.

He is a very handsome boy and is well aware of it, using his soft prince curls and sweet smile to get girls and boys alike to do his bidding. His good humor and apparently ceaseless optimism makes him well-loved among adults, but kids his age tend to think he's too much of a ray of sunshine to have much going on in his head. The son of two experienced merchants and grandson of highly accomplished barons, Apollo grew up wealthy and sheltered, not only by his parents but by his sister, who was five years older than him. However, when he was just short of his sixth birthday, his parents were killed by marauders on a trip to the port city of Tauron, leaving him and his sister in the care of their grandparents. Only a year later, his sister fled the oppressive environment of the fortress to train with Elderstar, leaving Apollo with the simple instructions to follow her once he turned twelve. So Apollo waited five more years until he was old enough to join his sister at the Fortress. Since the two siblings left, they have heard nothing from their grandparents.

BRIEF WRITTEN DESCRIPTION Tall and lithe, Artemis resembles her brother in build and posture, although not as much in color. She is much paler than Apollo, with auburn hair and pale, almost colorless grey eyes. Unlike her brother, Artemis doesn't radiate nearly as much of a welcoming air, although her care towards small children and her brother is a reassurance of her gentle nature. She dresses practically, keeping her hair in a braid to keep it out of her face and usually wearing comfortable pants and an easy-to-move-in shirt.

Diplomatic but still firm, she is usually in control of herself, which is helpful in her preferred branch of magic. Although not rough, she is an excellent, efficient fighter, and is loyal and supportive in a...stoic kind of way. She adores her brother, Apollo, and takes good care of him.
NEGATIVE PERSONALITY TRAITS One thing that can be off-putting about Artemis is her apparent lack of significant emotion. Although known to occasionally give a small smile, few can say they've heard her laugh, much fewer than those who can say they've seen her truly angry. Bad-tempered, Artemis is not one to let go of a grudge easily, especially if it involves her baby brother. She's fiercely independent, often trying to resolve problems twice her size on her own. She is also known to argue with her teachers.
LIKES Artemis's gentle side is most apparent when she is in nature. An animal lover by nature, she practically begged Elderstar to teach her how to speak to animals, and she can now be found occasionally chatting with the squirrels that stop to rest on her windowsill. Like her brother, she favors the bow as both a practical tool and a weapon, and particularly enjoys spending time with him as they keep up with the rigorous upkeep required to keep a bow in good condition. As a sort of time-killing hobby, Artemis is quite partial to knot tying, and can often be found with a coil of rope in her hands. Whether or not she conveniently makes hangman nooses when angry is a different matter, however...
DISLIKES Deeply practical, there are few things Artemis hates more than when things go to waste. Growing up in the Outlands, there was really not much to go around, and despite her many years of living in the Fortress, she still conserves on instinct. She is also a very private, independent person, preferring her space, and is not hard to anger if you consistently violate it. Furthermore, her protectiveness of her little brother is very likely to get you on her shit list if you hurt his feelings, which means your chances of unfortunate mutilation have gone up about 500%.

Orphaned at eleven, she suddenly found herself not only as Apollo's guardian but with all the expectations of her grandparents directly on her. Desperate to find a way out, Artemis looked into the rumors of the mysterious Elderstar, a half-elf mage who trained humans and other peoples alike in the way of magic. So Artemis fled, even as the weight of leaving Apollo behind settled on her conscience. Unable to bear with the thought of never seeing him again, Artemis sent him careful instructions to follow her when he turned twelve, which is exactly what he did.
