    [thanks]

"Thank you," Paradisefalls meowed pulling the meat closer to him and began eating it. Homepaw had dropped it nearly right in front of his paws. Sometimes she didn't seem to be blind at all the way she moved around so confidently. If he didn't know better he would've thought she wasn't blind after all. "Have you ever been near the two leg place before?" he asked between mouthfuls.

[sorry it's short I really don't know what else to type at the moment.]

After she was settled into a nest the medicine cat went to get some catnip. Luckily there had been some freshly gathered herbs. He pulled out a few of the older leaves, he always tried to use up the older ones first since they would go bad quicker. He brought them over to the warrior. "Eat these," he said. "I won't help your systems but it will treat the greencough in the long run. I can give you something for a cough or whatever else is bothering you if you want it," he offered.

"What's all this commotion?" Paradisefalls meowed limping into the medicine den. He had a mouthful of catnip but he had a nice injury on his hind right leg. He had made daily trips to two leg place to gather enough catnip to treat all the sick cats. But the yard he got it from had recently gotten a dog, and well he hadn't been able to get away before the dog attacked him. He hardly seem to pay attention to it thought when he saw everyone apparently worried about Indencre.

"Homekit?" Paradisefalls answered uncertain by the tone in her voice. "HOMEKIT!" he cried out in worry when he padded out and saw her. He hurried to her side and picked her up by the scruff. She was small enough he could still manage to do it relatively. He didn't want to see her in pain trying to get to a nest for him to treat her so he would carry her. Very carefully her moved and placed her in a nest trying to be careful not to hurt her. "What happened?" he meowed worriedly as he looked over her poor leg.

Paradisefalls flicked her tears away with his tail and nuzzled her gently to comfort her but was careful not to hurt her. "It looks like it was quite a fall then. Shhh, it's alright," he said licking her on the head out of concern. He didn't like to see his daughter like this at all and he didn't want to have to fix her leg, not exactly because he knew it would cause her a great deal of pain. But the sooner he fixed it the better. "I'll be right back...I need to set your leg," he said. Then turned and darted into his herb store.

He came back out shortly with a bundle of supplies. He pulled out a poppy seed and held it out for Homepaw. "Eat it," he encouraged. Then he lay down next to her curling his tail around her protectively. He didn't want to set her leg until the poppy seed had time to take effect. That at least would dull the pain some.

Paradisefalls held her close in something like a hug when she buried her face into his chest. "Your welcome, just hang in there...I'll take care of you," he promised emotion filling his voice. It indeed was a heavy burden for him to handle seeing her like this. For the first time he realized why medicine cats having family was forbidden. In situations like this it was so hard to accept and handle and if he failed or she died from it he would blame himself forever.

After waiting for a while he knew he needed to take care of her leg while the poppy seed was at it's strongest. "I need to set your leg now...it will hurt a lot," he said sounding reluctant. He pushed a stick towards her. "Bite it," he explained. Even with poppy he knew she'd still feel it. He waited for her to take it or refuse it, it was up to her but he hoped she take it. Then he went to her broken leg and looked it over carefully for a moment then grabbed her leg and quickly jerked on it and aligning it correctly so when it healed she could still use it.

He wanted to comfort her but he had to make the split to ensure he didn't have to do it again to her. he had brought out everything he needed when he had gotten the poppy seed. So he took two sticks as well as some cobwebs and a few herbs and wrapped her leg tightly in the splint. Something that probably would cause pain as well with him bothering her leg so he worked as quickly as he could.

Paradisefalls flinched when the pain as he set her let set in and Homepaw yowled in pain. He wanted so bad to go comfort her and it was unnerving to see his adopted kit in so much pain. He was shaking as he began wrapping the cobwebs around the two sticks to prevent movement so it would heal properly. He had done this only a few times before, but it had never upset him like it did this time. Sure he felt bad for causing pain whenever he had to set a broken bone but this was different, this was Homepaw, his daughter.

He wrapped her leg tightly to allow as little movement as possible. He gave an audible sigh of relief as he wrapped the last of the cobweb around her leg. He sat down trembling as though his legs wouldn't hold him if he had to stand up and walk. "Sorry..th-that's it," he said to her tripping over his words a bit. Well that was it for now as far as her leg went. She still had other scratches and there would be at least a month for the leg to heal and then getting used to walking on it again. He slid down to lay on his belly, the movement brought him closer to Homepaw without having to stand up. Something he wasn't sure he could do at the moment. "You a-alright?" he asked hoping it hadn't been too much for her.

Homepaw's words seemed to calm Paradisefalls some if not just hearing her voice. "No, of course not. You will stay here with me until your leg heals," he said his voice a bit more sure now than before. He got up an still shaking some lay down next to her and wrapped his tail around her and pulled her close to him. He wanted to stay with her and comfort her. Had he been able he would've taken the broken leg himself instead of her.

"It will be...sometime before you can go back to the apprentice's den," he added. "You should rest if you can." Rest would at least give her relief from the pain and unless something went wrong from here on out each day would be better as her leg continued to heal.

Paradisefalls stayed with Homepaw for some time after she fell asleep before he left her side. He set to taking care of the much more minor injures she had, being sure to apply a generous amount of dock to help with the pain of those smaller ones. Once he had seen to that he went about his normal duties in his den, but checked on Homepaw every time he passed her if not more. He was keeping a close eye on her and was avoiding leaving his den unless he absolutely had to.

    [time skip?]

Paradisefalls was sorting through some freshly picked marigold and lavender. He hadn't picked it himself as he didn't want to leave Homepaw. Instead he had his apprentices gather it. He was sorting through the leaves picking them off the stem to dry them out in the sun so they would store better. Or well dry them when the sun came out that was. With the rain it would be pointless to put them out. If he didn't like being tied to his den with Homepaw he never showed it. He only seemed to be concerned for his adopted daughter as was obvious by the attention he gave her checking on her often.

Hearing her call him he finished pulling the last leaf of lavender off the stem and tossed the stem into a pile to toss out later. It only took a second or two to do before he answered Homepaw's call. "Yes?" he asked. He wanted to add on 'is something wrong' but well he had bothered her enough by continuously checking on her more than needed. If something was wrong she'd tell him.

Food, that was it? It was somewhat of a relief to hear it was only a simple request. He worried about her way to much. "Sure, what would you like?" he asked. He unfortunately didn't have any freshkill in the den and would have to get wet to get some from the pile. But he didn't mind fetching it. He just felt bad that Homepaw had broken her leg. He knew it would be hard for her to be stuck in here all the time. It would for any young cat. Plus he felt that Homepaw tired to prove to him she could do things on her own, he had never brought it up but he was pretty sure she tired to once in a while at least. And now she couldn't even attempt that.

[ last post for tonight. I need to go to bed. G'night. =) ]

Paradisefalls was exhausted having taken care of Homepaw all the time and attempting to collect herbs in time for winter. It wasn't all that surprising he didn't wake up at first, but it wasn't long before he did. By the time he realized what was going on it was too late to save Homepaw from the blow. "NO!" he yowled his white fur standing up on end. He usually was one never to raise his voice or get angry but he was now. "Who are you! Get out of here now!" he hissed and moved to place himself between the intruder and Homepaw. He hesitated to attack though as fighting was not something he'd ever been trained for. "If you want herbs or something take them but leave us!"

"Homepaw...HOMEPAW!" Paradisefalls screamed. He knew better than anyone surviving that was near impossible. When the apprentice didn't get up or move he knew she was gone and a blind rage filled his eyes. Homepaw was his adopted daughter, he had failed her, he hadn't been able to protect her. If her leg hadn't been broken maybe she would've stood a chance...

In anger and grief and flung himself at the larger wildcat and claws and bit were ever he could. It was clear he wasn't trained for battle as he left openings in his defense and was not attacking with as much expertise as others would. But he was doing so for Homepaw, in her memory and in his grief. He would make this intruder pay!

[he's not an experienced fighter at all so he's likely to not do too much damage.]

Paradisefall's grip easily was broken by the shake of the cougar's leg. He tried to dig his claws into the cougar's fur to hold on but to no avail. He only yowled in response to his words. "You killed her!" he said his voice rising. It didn't matter if he had meant to or not, Homepaw was dead. His daughter was dead. He wanted to go after the cougar but he knew deep down he was no match for it.

Tears already filled his eyes and grief over came him. He didn't even seem to notice his two apprentices had come. He padded over to Homepaw and curled himself around her small form one last time. "Homepaw no...I'm sorry...I couldn't protect you...I couldn't save you...don't leave me," he cried knowing full well she was already gone. He buried his head in her fur his heart broken.

"Ah I see, there is a scare going around with green cough," Paradisefalls meowed knowing it was most likely an over reaction of the others. If one of his apprentices came down with it surely he would catch it relatively soon. He sat down and stretched out his injured leg to let Indencre and Sorrelpaw treat it. "I'll be fine," he said in reassurance to the worried looks by others. It wasn't particularly bad but it hurt enough to make him limp. "The Two-legs I take catnip from got a dog. The little bitter chased me and pulled me off the fence as I tried to get away," he explained.

The white medicine cat limped over to them. His hind leg was wrapped up in cobwebs hiding his injury he'd gotten in two-leg place from a dog. He glanced at the owl quickly noticing her injured wing but he said nothing, instead letting Popstar handle it. If he was needed to fix her wing he would. Though that had not been originally why he'd come here, he had been meaning to speak with the pitbul leader but well it seemed that would have to wait now.

A snow white cat padded into the den with a mouse in his mouth, presumably his lunch. He looked surprised but happy when he saw the queen awake. He stashed his mouse in a corner to eat later. "Your awake, good," he said coming over to them. "I'm Paradisefalls, I found you on the border unconscious and brought you here. Are you alright? Not hurt?" As far as he could tell she wasn't injured but he might have missed something.
