"...it came undone again." Heart murmured.

Shika grabbed her meister my the wrist.

"We should be going soon, too." she chirped.

    ---

Kage glanced at Death the Girl, then shook her head.

"I'll catch up, Shika. There's something I need to do first."

"I try..." the redhead rambled. "I try to be careful...but I'm no good at staying out of trouble...that's why I need such an amazing meister, so that I don't have to struggle on my own..." his cheeks tinted pink, as though he hadn't meant to rant out loud.

Kage's bangs were covering her eyes, but the tear that slipped down her cheek was still visible. She grabbed her phone from her pocket, texted Shika a message stating she'd be back later than expected, then returned it to its proper place.

"Cerberus..." she hissed her skateboard's name and held out her left hand to summon it.

"You both irritate me." she growled.

"H-he lied to me..." she whispered. "That (censored) lied to me!"

Shakily, Kage stood. Tears stained her pale cheeks as she walked over to Cerberus, lifting the skateboard from where it had fallen and dusting it off.

    "I'm...fine." she lied.

With a final glare at Roseus, Kage allowed Cerberus' wheels to flip over in that odd, rocket-like way that Kid often used with Beelzebub. By air, they'd be in Lord Death the Kid's chamber in two minutes tops. The beauty of floating skateboards...

Just as Kage had anticipated, it was two minutes before she was standing outside her father's chamber, retracting her board into the palm of her left hand. If what Roseus said was true...she had been lied to. Her stupid parents, and her stupid aunt. They all lied.

"...we have no reason to knock. You first, Death."

Kage followed, a cold gaze in her uninjured eye.

    "Father..." she growled.

    ---

Kid was sitting in the center of the room, the room that was Lord Death's before Kid took over. Lord Death never showed his face, or, rather, mask, anymore. Kid looked very much the same as he had all those years ago. The only notable difference was his cloak, which he wore rather than his suit with the skull. He never wore a mask, though.

His gaze went from one girl to the other. Kage knew too much, from the looks of things.

"Your eye is injured." he stated finally. "You aren't very symmetrical with one eye swollen shut..."

    ---

    "Save it!" Kage snapped.

    OOC: Liz, not Patty XD

IC: "Well, then what more do you want to know?" he was beating around the bush, and doing a good job of it. To anyone else, it would seem as though there was nothing else to say. Not to Kage, though, and probably not to Death.

    ---

"Father...why did you lie to me?"

"There are some things that children weren't meant to know..."

    ---

"Yeah?" Kage shouted suddenly. "Well guess what? We don't want to know the answer because we're children. Tell me, tell Death, as fellow shinigami, what the hell is going on!?"

    ---

"...you're stubborn, Kage. That will get you into trouble. I was hoping you two wouldn't meet for this reason exactly...two young gods of similar motives...it can't be helped, though. You are both aware how a shinigami is born,' correct? From a fragment of their 'parents'' soul. That should be clear enough, right, Death? Your hair is asymmetrical."

"So what you're saying is that Death was made from your..." several words came to mind, but she discarded them all. It made sense, though. The kishin Asura was created by fear, and he was a coward, right? So then, was Death made from Kid's faults? No, that was wrong. He still had those, after all, and it wasn't as though Death was clumsy or stupid. Faults wasn't right.

    ---

"She was created from a fragment of my soul. That is all." Kid cut into her thoughts. "You, on the other hand, weren't. Logically speaking, would that not make Death the Girl a more fitting successor than you?"

    ---

"But I was here first!" Kage protested.

    ---

    "Exactly."

    ---

"...I don't follow. Did you catch any of that, Death?"

OOC: Oh, nice. That will be useful.
