A tiny kit scrambled in the snow, her cloudy blue eyes endless searching. "Mum!" she mewed loudly, the she-kit's wavy white fur blending with the snow. A pink collar was strapped on her neck, and it jingled everytime the snow sunk a little deeper and the kit stumbled.

Hazelpaw knew it was a kittypet by the sound of the dingling. She raced off, the snow obviously not a challenge for the SnowClan apprentice. When she spotted the smaller kit struggling, the pink collar tightened around her neck, she stopped. "Who are you?" She asked.

"Cloud." she shrunk back slightly.

Hazelpaw glanced at her neck. The collar was so...obvious. She gently walked over and took the collar in her teeth, snapping it in half. It fluttered softly to the ground in the snow.

"Why'd you do that?" she stopped shaking and looked at Hazelpaw with her clouded eyes.

"It was choking you." Hazelpaw explained, covering it up with snow. "Besides. The Clan doesn't welcome Kittypets warmly. If we make you look like a loner, then they'll be more accepting."

"Oh, okay." she wanted to ask whats Clans and loners were, but she didn't want this cat to get mad at her. The runt shook snow off of her long fur and followed Hazelpaw

Hazelpaw started off slowly through the snow to let the kit catch up. "You seem trsuting of me...knowing that I'm a Clan cat."

"My mum told us to respect those older than us. Even if the cat is only a month older."

"Month? You really are a kittypet."

"What do you Clan cats call it?" she asked

"Moons." The apprentice replied.

"I like that, sounds better than month. Where are we going?" she mewed, shaking snow off of her paws once more.

"To the camp." Hazelpaw replied. "I'm Hazelpaw by the way."

"That's a pretty name. Are there others with 'paw' at the end of their name?" Cloud said.

Hazelpaw nodded. "Yeah. All Apprentices must end their name with paw until we earn our Warrior name. When I become a Warrior, I could become Hazelstep, or Hazeltail, of Hazelshine. Or something like that."

"Would you want to become a warrior?" Hazelpaw stopped and looked at the small kittypet kit.

"It sounds cool, yeah, I'd like to become a warrior!" she squeaked happily

"Well, we'd have to get you permission from Fadingstar or Popcorn." Hazelpaw replied, mentioning the SnowClan leader and deputy.
