  • The darker the better! (They call me Dark One right..)
The more sickening the riffs are; the better ;)
    And of course lyrics matter.

This is pretty much the first time you will catch me really posting here on wcrpg and it will be the last time other than in this thread for a while to come as well (busy busy!) but I was just curious because of the average age and origin of most users here...: Are there any fans [of (black) metal] and if so: Which band(s), what album(s) and what song(s)?
    And perhaps even: Why? ;)

    Thanks,
    - Me

[NOTE: Please do !not! post your age on the thread, thank you :)]

  • [font=georgia][color=black]The age and origin? I'm thirteen and I live in the U.S.

But, may I ask, fans of what in particular? Music, I must say I like Coldplay and their album Mylo Xyloto. I have many other favorites, but I've liked that album a lot, as well as Coldplay's other music. Why? Well, it has a nice sound to it, and their songs often have a meaning behind them.

  • Yeah there's so many kinds of metal that's derived from type ... or type ... :)
For example I listen to many "melodic" types of (black) metal as well.

Last band I heard that was labeled "Extreme powermetal" was Dragonforce. A band which I unfortunately hate because the guitarist is incapable of finishing a single note, no idea how they got so popular.
Hope your brother is in to good bands! :)

Indeed, I was referring to people being quite young here on average; hence I'm interested in what people listen to these days. :)

Well, the thread title already suggests it; Black metal :)
Nevertheless, I think I should have probably been more clear in my post. As such: Clarified in OP! :)

  • I ADORE black metal. Old and new.
My favourites.. hm. For the older ones, either Megadeth or Metallica
and a newer one would be Bring Me the Horizon or SOAD.
I love megadeth probably because I've grown up with metal and hard rock, so I've loved it and Dave Mustaine is the bomb. Ginger's rock, especially headbangin' ones.

Metallica for obvious reasons, and those are quite similar to that of my love for SOAD and Megadeth.
and I just love BMtH because they're a good band.. I dunno.

And my favourite album is peace sells.
    asdfghjkl
And i'm in the 13-15 age range.

  • [font=georgia][color=black]Well, the site does seem to have quite a lot of people of a younger age, true. Black Metal, I actually have listened to it before and I must say I do like it. It's quite unlike me, seeing as I usually go for the softer, quieter songs, but I do like it c:

Darkthrone, and their album Circle the Wagons is nice<33

  • SOAD / Megadeth

^ those two I like from your post :)
SOAD I know since the first album, and Megadeth I actually got to know from the first version of the popular game Duke Nukem. (Duke Nukem 3D) They made the intro ;)

On behalf of Metallica, I don't like them too much to be honest. They have some nice songs, but the majority of their songs I don't really like; plus it's way too commercial, overkill.
I don't believe in commercial bands being crap, for example I listen to Dimmu Borgir, but Metallica really overdone it, hehe. :) It's not black metal by the way, but that doesn't matter! :)

Haha well you don't have to like it right :) Each to their own!
Glad to hear you like Darkthrone, they are superb.
I actually prefer the album, and song, transilvanian hunger :)

  • [font=georgia][color=black]That's one of my favorites of their songs, I also like Under a Funeral Moon, Valkyrie, and Dead Early c:

    All good songs indeed! :)
I misinterpreted your previous post by the way, I read "I don't" instead of "I do", heh.
    Good to hear it! :)

I also can enjoy relaxing music by the way, I don't listen to (black/melodic) metal exclusively, although apart from my ambient and classic music collection; everything I listen to is usually in the (hard) rock direction... But that's relaxing and quiet to me. :)

  • [font=georgia][color=black]Hey, I misread things a bit to much for my liking, but we're all only human so it makes perfect sense c:

Hard rock has actually been helping me a lot lately, just because of school, stress, and everything along those lines. So, thank you to hard rock and people like you who are allowing me to discuss it with them c:

    It happens :)

Well, I find Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, UFO, Urian Heep, Pearl Jam, Black Sabbath, Nirvana and all kinds of rock to be quite relaxing when stressed indeed :)
You should try a "avant-garde" metal band perhaps... But you may not like it, of course. It's name is "Arcturus" and the album is "Sideshow Symphonies". It can be found on youtube.

Which reminds me to post some black/melodic metal bands I like:
Immortal, Darkthrone, Dimmu Borgir, Windir, Mistur, Vreid, Ensiferum, Wintersun, Gorgoroth, Borknagar, Arcturus, Dark Fortress, Naglfar, Project Hate MCMXCIX, 1349, Burzum, Thorns.
Those are bands among my list.

  • [font=georgia][color=black]I've listened to a few of those, The Doors, Immortal, Wintersun, and Burzum, all of which I've been really pleased with c: As for the others, I'll be sure to listen to them, seeing as I've really enjoyed this style of music a lot actually.
