"Human history is the sad result of
each one looking out for himself."

Mordred stood after she had. "It's quite a while after noon, though, and I am sure dusk is soon to come. Perhaps you should lie down, it would be safer not to travel overnight." His brow furrowed as he heard the sadness in her voice. It was something he hated, the sound didn't go well with her.

• "Alright," she said quietly. "But you need to get some rest too, remember that you stayed up all last night." Genivive told him sternly bu lovingly. She kissed his cheek and went to the only other room in the cottage. "I'm just going to change." she told him from her bedroom, pulling a long night gown out of a drawer.

Mordred nodded, only now feeling the tire in his muscles. "I will sleep eventually, I assure you. But you need it more." Genivive was now top priority. His life was second important now, he would risk it to protect Genivive and their unborn child.

• She sighed as she splashed her face with water, she looked up from what she was doing and called out, "Mordred, please." she insisted. She slipped out of her dress and it's slip and put on the silky, slim looking, white night gown. Geniveve walked out and returned to him. "You can't just exhaust yourself."

Mordred pursed his lips at her request. It really did matter more about her, but he wasn't about to deny her right now. "Alright, as long as you sleep as well," He said, nodding.

• She walked up to him and squeezed his shoulders, attempting to make him feel more at ease. Genivive smiled and kissed his cheek, hugging him gently then massaging his shoulders gently. "You're starting to look really tired Mordred, would you like to go back to the castle or stay here?" she asked him.

Mordred felt his muscles relax as he again felt Genivives' touch. Turning around to look at her, he answered. "You actually think I would leave now, leave you. I don't think so." He picked her up bridal style and walked toward the bed. Setting her down on it, he layed beside her.

• Genivive looked back into his eyes and held him. Her eyes widened and she laughed as he lifted her off of her feet. She lied down in the bed and turned to face him, running her hand through his hair again with her other hand on her stomach.

Mordred had a hand on her side, the other laying palm-down next to his stomach. He smiled back at her, stil thinking of the sound of her laugh, assuring it to memory. His blinking was slow as he stared at her.
"Try to go to sleep," He coaxed. "I promise I'll sleep soon after you."

• Geniveve scooted closer to him, her hand wrapping around his neck. She listened to Mordred speak and she doled her eyes, his words soothing her. She ran a hand through his hair and started to hum a lullaby, her voice quiet and angelic.

Mordred watched her eyes slowly close, loving every moment he was blessed with to look at his precious love. His hand beside his stomach slowly and gently rested over her stomach, feeling a small tear trail down his cheek. Then she began a soothing lullaby, better than he ever thought imaginable, even when hummed. He kissed her forehead, gentle again.

• Geniveve briefly opened her eyes to see the smallest of tears well up in his eyes. She wiped them away softly as she hummed her fingers gently passing over his warm skin. She put a hand next to his on her stomach and closed her eyes again, humming the sweet song still. She smiled when Mordred kissed her.
